Sequel Complete | Karma in Glorious Splendor | Chapter 20
Thank you all for following along on this multi-year journey to completion of Wednesday's senior year. I appreciate the patience of my readers for enduring multiple hiatuses during the writing of the Chaos for the Fly sequel - but alas, the official two-part series is complete!
The next continuation in the series will be the College Years Collection. This will be different in format / possibly mixed-POV. There is not enough story left for this to be an official 'trilogy' though I'm sure you can expect me to get carried away with it lmfao. I will be taking a break from the Chaos Universe for the summer and anticipate the third installment will start in September.
A graduate school AU featuring Wednesday x Enid will be up within the next week or two as my Wednesday summer project. Lovely Thorns (and Singing Vultures) will continue to have one-shots featuring OCs from the universe as well.
Thank you again for all the support, comments, kudos, shares, and general love for the series!
The Boroughs is the worst show I've watched in a long time.
I keep picking shows that everyone is raving about and watching them feeling like I'm living in a different reality because I do not understand the hype (Sirens, Wayward also watched in the last year that on that list for me).
I wanted to like The Boroughs. I wanted to give the Duffer Brothers another chance (I have tried Stranger Things so many times and it just doesn't do it for me, either). We need more representation of older people doing non-stereotypically 'elderly' roles in Hollywood...though I'll say the actresses in this show really don't want to show us a naturally aging woman (and I love Gina Davis but goodness whatever she's got pumped in her face is tough on the eyes).
I'm not sure how this show was about grief. Found family is generally my weakness but I thought they really never brought out the best in each other and consistently made me wish they were back to their own agendas. I was not rooting for a single character. Why was I supposed to care about Mother? The lack of backstory there (likely due to the never-ending strain of the eight-episode "season") and lack of consistent universe rules, on top of terrible dialogue, oftentimes rough acting and some REALLY BAD WIGS made this show a chore to get through. The most interesting parts of the show were already gone by the third episode (Ed), and the place I really wanted to explore (The Manor) could have had so much potential and was drastically underutilized.
Oh well. I'll just get back to writing my own version of other shows that disappointed me, too.
There's a snake named tofu that showed up in my scrolling multiple times for having beef with a random youtuber named markiplier (https://m.youtube.com/shorts/wWG_7u7bqCQ) and i immediately thought of GusGus and Altair. Altair is absolutly silly enough for it, but unless its a one-shot I think that gusgus is more fitting in the present.
Now i hc (yes your chaos universe is big enough to have hc of OC animals) that in the college years gusgus would find someone (or something) mundane very offensive and would have a one-way-all-consuming beef with said something/someone lol (enid of course takes it very seriously and tries to reconcile them).
I absolutly adore your work and clearly my mind is trying to reconcile the fact that we wont have new chaos content for some time with filling in the gaps💔
I love Tofu! I haven't seen him on TikTok in awhile, thank you for reminding me about him so I could search and get him back.
I want a snake so badly, but I haven't proved to have a great track record with pets. When I'm older and more responsible, like when I'm forty-two, maybe I can have one.
As a special treat for my trip around the sun, I took the day off and am going to hold snakes tomorrow at a reptile house and I'm VERY excited!
Altair is sometimes jealous, but certainly just generally irritated with GusGus because he's just a baby and he's annoying. He'll be entering his angsty teen stage (two years old) as Wednesday transitions to college. That should be fun for all of us!
So glad you love my make believe danger noodles! There will be a Josie one-shot coming sometime this weekend, but it's pre-Altair, sadly.
Summary: A deadly disease is sweeping through Republic City — no one has immunity, and no healer has discovered a cure.
While Katara is working on helping those affected, one of her own children comes down with the illness, forcing her to find the source of the disease so it can be healed, or lose her only daughter.
This story was on Tumblr originally sometime between 2012-2014 and hasn't been here in almost a decade. Revised and edited - sharing again on AO3!
Summary: Josie and Emiliana have been broken up for nearly a year. When Josie accidentally runs into Emiliana in the midst of a surge of visions, feelings come soaring back.
aka: the JosiexEmi breakup makeup alluded to many times in CftF and KiGS
Also: Karma in Glorious Splendor officially ends this weekend. 😭🐍
Chapter twenty will be up by Saturday night (EST) at the latest.
I've finally figured out what to do with all my OC one-shots, which was what I intended to do with them in 2023 before I became distracted by Holly x Larissa.
All of my original character one-shots for Wednesday (currently, Holly x Larissa and Josie x Emi) are now housed and updated in Lovely Thorns (and Singing Vultures) to make them easy to find/read on AO3. The story is attached to the Chaos universe for continuity.
Chapters 1-8 are currently Holly x Larissa, Chapters 9 - 13 are Josie x Emi. Very few of you have probably read chapter eleven, which was written in 2023 right after chapter 16 of CftF. Now available for all, along with the new one-shot above. 😘

I'm very close to being finished with Karma in Glorious Splendor! This summer, I'll be completing my Abbott Elementary multi-chapter fic and working on editing some old Avatar: The Last Airbender stories to match my current style/posting those in honor of the new movie coming out this fall*. I have had some Wednesday fics brewing in my notebook since 2024 that I want to work on as well. I can't decide which short story to start first! Thanks in advance for assisting me in narrowing down the field.
Those are VERY vague descriptions of fics in the poll, but I don't want to give too much away! Just a general concept. At some point, I'd like to write all of these. ALL STORIES WILL INCLUDE AGNES! I haven't gotten to write her yet and she was the ONLY part of season two that I enjoyed, so I'm eager to do so.
I don't see myself working on the Chaos College Years Collection right away after I finish KiGS. I'm taking the summer off from that universe (remember, it's not a trilogy either - just a collection of highlights from life after Nevermore) so that's not a choice! I want to write something a little less all-consuming while I finish other stories that I can complete in just a few weeks.
I'll also be tackling the Josie/Emi prompts that have been sitting in my inbox - but those are just one-day, >10k writes. I'm looking for my "summer project."
Also - confession...there will be heterosexuality 🫠 I am forever and always a Kataang shipper. I have been on that train for TWENTY-ONE YEARS. I was on the first Kataang message board that existed in 2005. I wrote some of the earliest fics! Those will NOT be the ones I revisit, lol, but I'm holding onto them with a fist - they've been an always and forever fandom and ship for me. I haven't written anything A:tLA since 2014 and am eager to edit / share some of my stories that I remain proud of from that era.
By just 1.2% - the grad student AU wins out for my summer short story! The 1920s AU will be the next one, which is great because the more I think about it, the less I think I can make it a short story that I wrap up in just a few weeks.
I only have two scenes left to write then editing for Karma in Glorious Splendor. Low-key I am very sad that it’s over lol.
I’m also finishing up another Josie x Emi prompt from my inbox and am so glad I invented these tragic idiots and that I can just write about them whenever I want.
It’s so great to be a writer even if you sometimes devastate yourself.

I am really unwell at the thought of kigs ending and not having Josie and Emi in fics anymore. I can read eleven thousand other wenclair fics but there's only one chaos universe with the most interesting, best written ocs of all time.
For the college years, are we still going to see Josie and Emi as often as we do in the two main stories? I will literally miss them so much. They might be my favorite characters even more than Wednesday and Enid at this point and I’m not going to lie I am stressed about losing them.
😭🫶🏼 I am thankful they are so loved!
Of course we’ll still see Josie and Em in the college years! In fact - the first main arc is actually going to be about them in a way. I’ve been dropping hints since chapter seventeen. There has been a trail of foreshadowing I’ve been leaving that will lead up to a massive reveal and plot for the first installment of the college years collection!
Since the post-sequel fics won’t be the same type of story (it's not a trilogy), I’m even considering playing with POV and structure so they won’t all just be Wednesday’s limited, narrow view of events.
I also have six prompts sitting in my inbox (keep ‘em coming) for Josie x Emi one-shots. Once KiGS is wrapped, I’m going to work on those and do a little bit of re-structuring up on AO3 for my bonus content to keep it all in the Chaos Universe series tab.
About to start the new chapter! I've been anticipating this all day, and on one hand I'm so excited and I can't wait to see what happens, on the other hand, that cliff hanger I know I've got waiting for me and the mention in the Emi oneshot with Joannes that Wednesday is being a brat again (which don't get me wrong is quintessential to the fic, I just love it when everyone is getting along) has me feeling a bit cautious lol
Ahh - thank you for reminding me - I meant to link that lil ficlet in the text of KiGS Chapter 19!
Enjoy your light torture! It really would have been soooooo much better if I'd have just finished writing as I was supposed to, it could've been a way worse cliff to hang off of, but alas.
Wednesday's surliness is finally coming to an end for the two-part sequel...but something tells me we'll see her crashing out and taking it out on everyone around her in the post-high school college series as well, not to fear!
Happy reading - I'll be working away at chapter twenty. 🫡
I lied. I said I'd post the entire ending when chapters nineteen and twenty were finished, but I loved where I stopped the penultimate chapter. I simply couldn't resist dangling the readers off the cliff for one final time in the Chaos universe.
The conclusion of my epic will be posted before 'Tish and Wednesday's Litha traditions aka - before summer.

hey! i've noticed in some of your fics that you have a few welsh/wales references, and as a welsh wenclair shipper its so exciting to see these little references to my country, because it usually feels like no one knows we actually exist lol. i guess i was wondering if you had any connections to wales, or whether they were just coincidental references?? either way im so happy to see them and just know that they are appreciated!!
Tragically, I'm a sad-ass American from the Midwest (though I have lived on both coasts) who has never traveled outside of North America. 😭
Any UK-based references are due to heavy research for Larissa Weems and her storyline.
Though I've never been, my current DREAM is to get to the UK - particularly the West End - so that I can see this MAJESTIC BOY in person:
I literally cry whenever clips for the Paddington Musical show up on my FYP because I love him sfm 😭
Anyway - I also leaned a bit into some Welch lore for Morticia because there isn't anything official and CZ-J is from Wales. So creative, I know.
Hi! I have tried writing and have some WIPs but it didnt proceed to completion and was just stuck there. I don't know how to proceed and just have no motivation or inspiration anymore.
And I am just wondering where you find the inspiration to continue writing? I remember you also had some hiatus during cftf and also now with karma. How did you decide to continue writing? Is it because someone talked to you? Was a comment from a reader enough to start a new chapter? Was it someone, or an event? Or a scene from a movie?
I actually did not take a hiatus during CftF. That was purely fueled by my longest mania episode ever. 😈 I think the most time I went between updates was three weeks and that’s because they were 75k chapters that were coming out lol.
What works to motivate me? I guess my last ask about this wasn't satisfying enough lol. Here's more specifics, but they're like, super specific and I don't think the actual circumstances can largely be replicated lmfao.
Um…to find my inspiration for KiGS after an eleventh month hiatus?
Well, I moved across the country for the third time, was promoted to an administrative position, had one of my worst mental breakdowns of my life, went back to therapy, returned to teaching for the third fucking time in my career and made peace. 🫶🏼 I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this trajectory to anyone looking to finish their WIPs. There’s gotta be a better way.
When I was going through it from like - August through November - I wasn’t writing any fic at all but I did watch the 90s Network television masterpiece Touched by an Angel. I am not a religious person, but Della Reese really helped get my shit together. Maybe you need to watch some quality Network television (I’d also recommend the original run of CSI Las Vegas - season seven/Miniature Killer arc and all episodes featuring Lady Heather, the first three seasons of House, and the VERY wholesome Young Sheldon really surprised me these last few years as to what a quality Network television show could be if we let it and I hated BBT.)
Already said it, but: having a clear outline from the beginning to refer to is my writing holy grail and it gives me motivation to see items crossed off. I never start writing without Habit #2 from my boy, Mr. Covey, “begin with the end in mind.” My outline will almost always change. The first drafted outline certainly doesn’t have every detail, and I do absolutely surprise myself along the way. I cannot write a multichapter fic without one, no matter how much it might change. If you didn’t have an outline for those WIPs, that would be my number one suggestion.
Also already said this, but: Pre-write on paper. There’s something about that old school ‘hand to mind’ brain science that a NotesApp / word processing doc cannot replace. Do a brain dump, make word webs, write character schedules / scenery maps - hell, for my Abbott Elementary fic, I’ve got Melissa Schemmenti’s Eagles '25-26 season schedule printed out and pasted into a notebook with other dates/appointments in it like I would my own calendar. It really does help.
Stay the fuck out of the fandom. Engage minimally. Don’t seek out tags / discussion groups, etc. It’s toxic and I know that I personally am too fucking old to be meddling around in fandom drama online with people who are half my age.
Setting deadlines helps me. I’m extremely good with time management and I love exceeding expectations. I am damn determined to finish KiGS before my summer break. 😤
Being angry at how poorly written season two of Wednesday was helped. Like - I wouldn’t watch it again, but if that’s the fandom your WIPs are for, maybe it would help to torture yourself with a rewatch because you’d be fueled by rage?
And lastly, having someone I love is the biggest key. You just can’t underestimate the Power of Friendship. (And love 💗)
I am blessed and highly favored to have my girlfriend, who is sitting next to me writing her lesbian Stranger Things fanfiction while I write my lesbian Wednesday fanfiction is just a treat and a half. She’ll beta through my slop and help me turn it into something that makes sense. She’s been my beta for seventeen years and I am so damn lucky to have her. 💕 So, find you a mate/partner for life/a ride or die! That'll do the trick. I cannot overestimate the power of being supported and loved unconditionally.
Honestly though, this WIP of mine, THIS WIP OF MINE - I’m ready to chuck the ending of KiGS into the lake that hasn’t been depleted by the data center. I only have like, 15k more to go and it's eating me alive lmfao.
It’s always so stressful to think about everything that happens in cftf and everything after. Especially being a high school senior. Bro how any of them do it is beyond me. I’d lowkey just drop out and never look at a school again.
The good news: You probably won’t have to stab anybody nor will you be metaphysically tortured in another realm.
So there’s that.
The bad news: I graduated high school into the “worst economy since the Great Depression” and I think yours is somehow managing to be even worse than that.
But - congratulations on being close to the end and near graduation!
As for the Chaos crew, they’ve only got a few a few more months! Girlies just need to suck it up. They mostly just need to get the fuck out of Jericho and things will improve significantly for them - seems like their problems are largely environmental.
For continuing on with school, Enid should REALLY reconsider. A theater degree is about as useful as wet toilet paper. And I’m pretty sure AI will be replacing lawyers in the next five years, so Wednesday’s pretty screwed, too.
These girls should really look into the trades.
Hi I have a serious question as an aspiring fanficker and someone who looooved your fic Break Even… how do you write such long fics? Like, how do you plot them? How do you keep going? Do you have any advice? Cheers. And thank you.
Thank you! Break Even will come back / finish this summer!
I think sometime around 2010 in The Dark Ages (in a fandom that will not be named), I was both reading and writing fanfic (the last time I actively did both for the most part). I was so utterly unsatisfied with everything I was reading - not because it was poorly done, but because it was just all so short and I finished reading it so quickly. I decided to Be the Change I Wanted to See in the World and for any multi-chapter fics, I would never write chapters with a word count of less than 10k. That felt satisfying to me, like “watching an episode,” compared to a snippet of content.
Obviously, that’s spiraled out of control since then.
As for my process, I just pre-write. I have an extremely general concept and a Main Outline with a brain dump that I do in a notebook because that’s how they taught us to start writing anything in the ‘90s. From there, I try to project how far I want to get to each chapter of the Main Outline. Then I make an individual Chapter Outline every time and get to gettin’.
As for motivation to keep writing…I just love it? IDK I wouldn’t be writing a story that I wasn’t interested in telling. It certainly isn’t for views or clicks lol. And writing is really one of the last free things you can do in this world, so that’s generally how I choose spend my free time. If you’re not motivated to write your own concept for a long story, I’d suggest start by writing smaller one-shots to get the hang of it until you’re ready to commit to something longer - I remember seeing a stat that less than fifty percent of multi chapter fics ever get completed.
Not to be doom and gloom about it, but the phrase “aspiring fanficker” makes me think that if you haven’t done this before and are looking for a certain amount of attention / feedback, make sure you set your expectations with the worms. It’s pretty brutal out here, and in 23 years of fandom, Wednesday is probably twenty times the number of follows / subscribers / kudos and comments I’ve ever previously had, and my engagement rate is less than one percent lol.
So I’m going to assume, since Josie is type-cast as Amy Adams (specifically a picture of Camille from Sharp Objects), that you’ve seen Sharp Objects.
I just finished watching it last night, it’s all I’ve been thinking about. Thank you so much for introducing me to the talent of Amy Adams and the beauty of Camille Preaker even though you have no clue who I am and had no intention of doing so.
THAT SAID. If you have seen/read Sharp Objects, are there any similarities you took from Camille and gave to Josie?
I’m sure I could find them myself but I’m desperate to talk to someone about this damn show bc it’s changed my entire brain chemistry. 🖤
I completely understand not being able to think about anything else after watching that show.
No spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it here, but the last five minutes of the last episode of Sharp Objects haunt me frequently. I’ll be sitting at a red light and think about the dollhouse and Camille’s face and “don’t tell mama.” Like ohmygod.
I also did not base Josie on Camille. I actually didn’t watch Sharp Objects until about halfway through CftF during one of my school breaks! When I needed a ‘cast’ to help me visualize OCs, it was right after Disenchanted came out, lmfao, and my beta suggested Amy Adams since I was currently spiraling over how much I fucking loved her, and it was a very easy sell.
I think all of her kids’ movies roles are my favorites of hers actually outside of Sharp Objects, funny enough - Enchanted, the Muppets and Night at the Museum franchise. I hate Superman as an entity with a passion, so I’ve never sat through those. Sunshine Cleaning is great - also features Emily Blunt (rip to her character in Devil Wears Prada - just got back from the sequel, how awful was that...I didn't want to watch the Devil Finds Humility good lord). The Woman in the Window is a pretty good Amy Adams movie, too. I mean - she’s also been nominated for six Oscars for other movies that aren't my favorite - the woman’s got talent out the ass. (Also - Amy Adams isn’t a main character in Drop Dead Gorgeous but it’s an LGBT cult classic if you haven’t seen it, you need to put it on your list.)
Far more than even if I had seen Sharp Objects for Josie, if I haven't mentioned it e-fucking-nough over the years, I was inspired heavily by Eva Green’s performance in Penny Dreadful for Emiliana (they couldn’t be less alike outside of the witchiness and Emi’s occasional ‘woe is me’ surliness but the vibes are there). If you love dark content, please give Penny Dreadful a watch. (It’s sometimes got like nodes of a Ryan Murphy-level production of ‘was this strictly necessary’ but overall, I love it.)
And suck it, Wednesday - Penny Dreadful did the blood ball first - and they did it way better. (And did it in one take.)
Though, do I love that show? Or do I just love the character of Vanessa Ives, lol? Upon the seventeen rewatches I have done, I absolutely fast forward to strictly watch Eva Green’s scenes after my first time lol.
I do not care for most of the men (there are so many of them in this blasted show) and also I generally find Billie Piper unwatchable, which likely led to some of my dislike for Wednesday Season Two, lol - but she’s insufferable in this show, so she’s an instant fast-forward for me.
Not to embarrass myself, but I DO SHIP A HET SHIP, OKAY!? I LOVE ETHAN x VANESSA, those tragic babies. I DO, I ADMIT IT! I WROTE A MILLION WORD FANFIC ABOUT THEM THAT I NEVER PUBLISHED ANYWHERE, TOO! I had to fix the horrific ending to that show. (Because I needed more work to do for myself when I was working full time and getting my masters degree.)
I have a type, okay? I love a batshit-crazy witch-coded type x werewolf with mommy issues type, g’damn.
