what specialization are you doing in your msw program? i'm torn :/

i’m actually in an advanced generalist program!! and honestly i really recommend it, especially if you’re not entirely sure of what route you wanna go down after graduation. with an advanced generalist program, you can explore micro, macro, and mezzo work to get a feel for which one(s) you’re more suited for/interested in. i’m still conflicted about what i want to do with my msw after graduation, but taking classes in a variety of social work sub-sections has shifted my views/narrowed down my focus quite a bit

peak disappointment is looking up social work on tumblr and seeing practicing and licensed msws sharing clients’ stories and immediately following them up with insults and shit-talking like that’s not a direct violation of the code of ethics and grounds for suspension of your license and also the whole fucking reason people are scared to start therapy in the first place :)
