One reason I love Rose Tyler is she had this raw, "illogical" compassion. No one had to tell her to do the right thing or throw herself in front of someone else to protect them; she just DID IT. Instinctively. Because it was the thing to do. She was a normal girl, raised by a normal mom who did her best, and when the pedal hit the metal, she always did the right thing. Bravery was a habit. She was born to slay dragons.

sometimes i think about how nine yelling at rose during father's day was so much more than anger at her for not listening to him

he was terrified

he thought she'd betrayed him, used him this entire time just to get to her father, that none of the adventures they'd been on meant anything to her like they did him

and that's why he wanted to hear rose apologize. not just an "im sorry i disobeyed you" but an "i didn't mean to hurt you. i was scared. i care about you. i love you"

on the subject of (classic) doctor who, i watched all four episodes of Spearhead from Space earlier today, another instance of just-so-happening to catch a really meaningful one when it was on. In this case, the first to feature the Third Doctor and the first to air in color.

Yes, he is like that for the rest of his run!!! And you’ll love Delgado’s Master in this, there’s a reason the character endured as long as it did and it’s because of Delgado bringing that role to life in it’s first iteration ❤️

The Brigadier really shines in this Era too as one of the Fandom’s enduringly favorite characters. The Third Doctor Era is usually overlooked because “he’s stuck on Earth yuck” but it’s criminally underrated and (to me personally) has some of the best acting and stories of the entire run
