People like Yui Komori are told they’re not enough every day. They don’t speak up enough, aren’t outgoing enough, confident enough, or badass enough- (as her character is often criticised, despite the fact that the boys would…you know, kill or torture her if she fought back or was verbally aggressive.)- or that their body shape or general personality isn’t appealing.

Despite the fact that she is a victim of abuse and carries the burden of being abandoned by her father- showing a quiet, resolute strength to carry on even in hard times, all I see are comments from people disparaging her choices or attitude. Yui does have strength. It’s just not the type we’ve come to glorify as the ‘right’ type of strength. She’s not a knife wielding sardonic hardass, and not every character has to act that way to be strong or courageous.

Sometimes just carrying on through adversity with the tools you have is enough. In Yui’s case, that is her innate kindness, empathy, integrity and fortitude. 

You are enough, even if you aren’t what everyone thinks you should be.
