since I’m about to leave this blog anyway here’s my take on the transandrophobia debate :)

I believe we’ve lost the plot.

The only effect the question “does transandrophobia exist” actually has is dividing us. Whether trans men are or aren’t systemically oppressed for being trans men is a purely theoretical distinction because what would it change? The answer is nothing. The existence or lack thereof has zero practical consequence. We’re arguing for the sake of being right, and no one outside the trans community cares. It’s unnecessary, divisive, and purely internal.

Of course I have my opinion on it but I believe there’s upwards of maybe 10 000 more pressing issues for our community and if we have to drop this topic to become more united then we should just drop it. why is that so hard. The cost is infinitely higher than the gain. It’s a pointless thought exercise and we can cross that bridge if we have the luxury to get to it in our lifetime, but until then I keep my mouth shut and support ALL my trans siblings regardless if I can relate to their struggles or not.

When did we make oppression into a prerequisite for being taken seriously, anyway. When did the existence of oppression determine a pecking order within the community. “You can’t be depressed because someone has it worse” ahh take but that’s the entire foundation of this nonsense debate.

I want to puke when I see trans men talking about things they consider oppression being met with condescension like they’re 14 year old sheltered kids making things up for attention, and it makes me sick to my stomach to see people resent other parts of our community over their oppression olympics. Supporting trans men doesn’t take away from supporting trans women, btw. This isn’t a zero-sum game. If you support one member, you support the whole group. It’s far more harmful to seek to gatekeep and actively limit who you’re supporting when you didn’t have to. First we had Drop The T try to cut us off from our fellow queers (& the reason we even got in a position to be cut off was this obsession with defining ourselves by our specific labels so the trans could be seen as separable from the queer in the first place, btw) and now we as a community have accumulated enough terminal brain damage that some of our own end up trying to further rip the trans community into tiny bite-sized pieces just because they’re so obsessed with this pissing contest of theirs, consequences be dammed. This infighting does not help any of us, but it weakens all of us. It’s just self-destruction over theoretical classifications. Are we actually that stupid.

All in all, people who spend their time seriously and publicly debating this hogwash strike me as self-absorbed, obnoxious people who have no grasp of the bigger picture, or of the fact that we have more things in common than not and no one but the most contrived strawman would ever accept one subsection of us but despise the other. So get a grip already, learn to prioritize, shove your pointless bickering up your ass, and start acting like grown-ups and support all your trans siblings unconditionally, you egocentric fucking cunts.
