brooding men who cannot communicate their feelings if their life depended on it are only hot when they're fictional. if i have to deal with one in real life i will curse him and pray for his downfall every night before i go to bed
It's because the writer communicates their feelings for them. If people wanna pull that off in real life they need to hire a guy to walk around behind them narrating.
#can i be the guy#ill narrate SO incorrectly#theyll all learn how to talk for themselves just to shut me up (via @cirrus-grey)
i'm loving the implication that this isn't something they hired you for, but something you'd do as some sort of public service.

i want a game that uses disco elysium's same insanely well crafted narrative system and wonderful writing...
...but it's about a young man who was hollowed out by worms and exiled from the wake returning to the bombed out ruins of his homeland after devastating wars have ravaged both europe and heaven itself
Maybe the most damming thing about Nolans odyssey is i haven’t seen a single gifset from it

see when people try and nitpick me because i call my dog "my dog" when it's technically "the family dog".......well first of all i still call my brother "my brother" and not "the family boy". although maybe that should change. second of all sorry i'm still thinking about the family boy. btw i fell asleep while making this post last night and i think you can tell
Very tenuous link to one of my favourite tweets
Always exciting to get a chance to photograph Brown Thrashers. I was really excited to see this juvenile with one of it's parents. The juvenile, in the front, has blue eyes, as it ages they will turn the bright yellow of the adults.

Of the two, Pratchett is surely the better author, but the way he's talked about on here does occasionally make one think of Rowling
He's good! He's legitimately very good, at some points. But a lot of the quotes that get passed around are only a step above Harry Potter's "Racism is Bad" standard of analysis. You might need to flesh out some of the ideas yourself
One thing to chew on: despite being good enough at character writing that he can portray people who are radical, he is fundamentally a Liberal in several small ways. He's big on diversity and feminism and freedom, but he does seem to have some ideas about people's proper place in the world and their place in governance of it.
I kinda think Vimes being this suppressed radical who is also local nobility is in tension, in Pratchett's work; I think at the end of the day Vimes is meant to serve the public and be good because he's a Good Cop; not because there are actual controls on his power by the people he rules. His only actual limiter, besides the Good Cop in his head, is just a higher level of Noblesse Oblige Tyrant in Vetinari.
Which is not a great look alongside the fact that he took a knighthood from the Queen
one time i was making potato soup and i needed broth for it but i was out of broth. but in my dog food cabinet there was a carton of chicken broth that i had bought for my dog. now the box did say HUMAN GRADE and the ingredients were just bog standard chicken broth. it did say something about joint health for dogs on there. but the ingredients were normal. i even compared the ingredients list to some normal person broth and they were the same. so i did put dog broth in that soup and it did taste completely normal. but i did use the dog broth.
