Are you being brainwashed by a complicated woman again?
Can't a man have hobbies!?
itās okay if today you:
-needed space
-didnāt finish everything
-tried your best but still fell short
-got frustrated with yourself
-had a hard time getting out of bed
-didnāt have the motivation you wanted
-had a hard time loving yourself
things will be okay. you got this. youāre still making it through things even though itās not simple. iām proud of you.
Some might say Tumblr is a terrible place to advertise a wood carving club. Some might say you can learn to carve wood for free with Kitsap Carvers three times a week from kind people eager to share their special intrests with anyone who wants to learn and there's more info at www.kitsapcarvers.org. Whose to say whose right and whose also right?
What if we got this post to ten thousand notes, my friends

this clip makes me so emotional. i feel like this sometimes, at night especially. That the whole wide world may swallow me whole. That iām wide-eyed in the face of god. that Iām not a victim of smallness but rather its loving disciple.
I love how these are from an Unreality subreddit but to my eye they just read like regular Tumblr shitposts. Did we cross-pollinate or something

If you havenāt heard, today PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome has been renamed to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. This change reflects that this is not a reproductive āproblemā but a whole body disease.
For reference, from the WHO website:
(Text: PCOS affects an estimated 10-13% of reproductive-aged women. It is estimated that up to 70% of women with PCOS worldwide do not know they have this condition.)
The Lancet link about shift to PMOS. Spread this to everyone who works in health care now. People with uteruses and ovaries are in agony - yes, the whole body suffers a crisis every fkn month - and health care should help
This may not seem that significant but it is.
PCOS currently isn't managed or "owned" by anyone. The people who typically end up caring for these patients are OBGYNs because "ovary" is in the fucking name, not because we are the best people to be managing it. And the reason for that is because, yes, one of the treatments for PCOS and its oligomenorrhea component and protecting the patient from an increased risk of endometrial cancer is birth control and we are the experts in that. But these patients also have other symptoms that need long term management and his is often not what OBGYNs are most comfortable treating (outside of pregnancy) like increased insulin resistance, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. These patients are often on 3 or four long-term medications that most OBGYNs don't prescribe or manage in our day to day practice. So what typically happens is that a patient has this disorder but ONLY ends up on birth control because that's what their OBGYN can manage and because the name PCOS biases us to JUST treat the reproductive/ovarian component.
The BEST people to manage PCOS now PMOS are the same people who manage other long-term, life long metabolic syndromes like diabetes: primary care providers and endocrinologists with OBGYNs as consultants for patients who want to get pregnant or are planning to get pregnant.
Changing the name makes this a medical problem that is less "hurr durr women problems" and more "systemic metabolic disorder that needs multimodal treatment and affects 20% of half the population" which means it will be taken more seriously by the medical community at large and when it comes to research funding. Patients will also get better, more long-term treatment because we will actually send them to the right people.
This is a huge paradigm shift and it's a good one that will lead to better health outcomes for women.
Agreed.
I medicine a massive part of the deal is the decision around which speciality is most skilled to treat a particular condition - and this is necessary to avoid nobody taking ownership or people being treated by clinicians who are less experienced in their condition.
Getting people to understand the nuances of PMOS and discouraging people from JUST seeing it as the "spots, no periods and put on weight disease" could make a big difference.

using violence to liberate people from sweatshops, unsafe mines, and grinding poverty isn't the same as using violence to impose those things on people. the idea that violence is morally repugnant regardless of context is a belief that every oppressor throughout history would love for the oppressed to hold
I just googled this and⦠yes, itās absolutely real.
And there are so many articles and videos and discussions. Like, the scientific community is buzzing about this.
So much research will have to be redone because the data was absolutely compromised, off by orders of magnitude, by using standard lab gloves.
The world is probably not horrifically contaminated by microplastics. Sterile laboratories, however, are contaminated by latex and nitrile gloves.
Thank God someone bothered to check.
I have a wild idea. what if we supported our claims of fact by linking to a reliable source. better yet, what if we went hogwild and just straight up linked to the actual unpaywalled study
