I’m so great full for everyone that is reblogging this. I totally forgot to take mine
Me: *sees post on tumblr* Shouts into the back of the house* Hey, mom, you remember to take your pills?
Mom, faintly after a minute: dammit.
(So it’s not just helpful for the person seeing it, lol)
I actually forgot to take mine.. thank you, Tumblr
This is great! thanks for the reminder!
A picture of an unknown flower taken at the Liberty Lake Loop. This photo was taken on 4/16 when the weather was still cool and damp. Many of the wildflowers where blooming and had not wilted yet.
More samples! These 2 samples are green argillite with hematite smears caused my faulting. This was a cool find because we had several faults that split making two fault faces. This allowed for slabs of rock to slide off the ribs after blasting (slightly freaky when your tapping the ribs and a giant junk of rock smashes to the ground). Plus side it allowed me to get a double sided sample of this smearing. Extra cool points for the fact that the dip of the smears are slightly different on both sides! Its one thing learning about faulting from a lecture and textbook reading compared to being 6000 ft. plus below the surface looking at the real thing.
So I have been very busy! I got an internship at a silver mine! I have been working there for a month now and have accumulated several awesome samples (and stories). The goal will be to post sample pictures and stories when I get a chance. This is a sample of cubic pyrite in grey argillite. The pyrite located on the left side of the sample is about 3/8 of an inch wide. This was taken from about 6500 feet below the collar (that is where the skip/elevator enters the mine). I found this sample by accident when I was in the process of mapping a ramp that was in development. I noticed some large pyrite in the argillite on the rib (wall of the tunnel) grabbed a lose piece, turned it over, proceeded to jump up and down and exclaim, “ Oh hell ya! Best day underground ever!”.
[Prehistoric] Any chance of getting a rough sense of what we’re looking at here?
Woho Geology major time! Agreed it looks very similar to a weathered (would classify as rounded) bioclastic limestone (would need to preform acid test to confirm). As for dating, that would require more information like location the sample was originally taken from and some closer looks at thous fossils. As for the fossils themselves, I defiantly see a mollusc (bivalve) or two and coral. From this picture its hard to say more about them due to lack of detail. Thous other oblong solid pieces are other rock fragments.
So my favorite pet amphibian was being super cute today (hunting for more food) and I thought I would share. Felsic is a leucistic axolotl if you are curious. He turned one this July and I am very confident he is male. Yes there is tiles in his tank. Before anyone gets flustered, these tiles have been tried and tested in my native cold water tanks (for more than 9 years with no problems). If you have questions about Axolotl care or Felsic’s set up let me know! I will happily answer your questions and concerns.
Yaaaaaay! I finished my Xbox 360 controller paint job. So excited to put it back together and play some games. :3 All of the sharks where drawn free hand will looking at photos for reference(the photos will be listed below). the drawings where then transferred to the primed shell of the controller. This painting was done with acrylic paints, alcohol markers, illustration pens and sealed with clear matte varnish. If you have any questions about materials, process or anything let me know and I will happily answer them. :)

As part of my work/art uploads here is my first quilt! This quilt is based off Shepard’s N7 armor from the Mass Effect games. If you haven't played them I highly suggest you do. This quilt is made in a slightly non-traditional way with large blocks that are sewn together, layered with batting and a back and quilted.
SUMMER!
Since its summer and I have more free time I will be posting some of my art! I mostly do mixed media, watercolor, sewing, and photography. I will try and post something everyday or at least queue something up. :)
Weird Movies
Wow so the official weirdest movie I have ever seen goes to Barbarella from 1968. It is somewhere between soft core porn and a space James Bond. That is if James Bond was played by Jane Fonda and naked 25% of the movie. Oh and if there was man eating parakeets. I would definitely recommend watching it for just for the weird awkward jokes and crazy costume and set designs. (and hey you get to see Jane Fonda’s boobs at least 4 times)
