I hate you Ozempic craze I hate you 'heroin chic' I hate you weight loss ads on public radio I hate Burn Fat Fast ads every thirty seconds I hate you I hate you I hate you
I grew up before the term 'thigh gap' was invented I grew up before 'hip dip' was invented I was born before 'muffin top' was a thing before 'clean girl look' was a thing before 'glass skin' was a thing before razoring off peach fuzz was a thing and I'm so so so fucking tired of us inventing new concepts purely for the purpose of convincing people to hate their own bodies enough to buy products
Poverty is just poverty. I just don't think a country this wealthy should have homeless people.
theres a reason u associate east asians with femininity and black people with masculinity and it has nothing to do with actual masculine or feminine “behavior” and everything to do with race science 😭 u have been taught race science, u haven’t unlearned race science 😭😭😭😭 READ A BOOK ABOUT RACISMMMM

people get so mad when you tell them that their lowbrow entertainment they enjoy is actually lowbrow
everyone wants their self-indulgent romantasy to be considered high literature and whatever new mainstream pop boy/girl to be treated as the next beethoven and their gay fluff show on streaming apps to be revolutionary art changing the world and like, they're not. and that's okay. i'm literally watching the stupidest show right now and it's fine. it doesn't have to be more.
there's also the argument of how pop culture used to be the trickle down from high culture for the longest time but now it's an ouroboros eating itself as access and willingness to engage with high culture have been systematically destroyed and diminished through the last decades so your popcorn flick moviemaker now only gets inspiration from other popcorn flicks when their foreparents used to actually read literature and see art of all kinds and your pop musicians used to listen to all sorts of new and old music rather than just their contemporaries/competition and maybe this absence of any sort of culture outside of our easy algorithms is why everyone's so defensive of what they passively consume and so attached to it as a part of their identity but that's a discussion for another day
is it a hot take to say that there is racism/colorism in the way kabru is portrayed and characterized in both labru and kabumisu a non insignificant amount of time. will i be hit for saying that.
Many of you may have seen the horrific news out of Biddeford, Maine today: Joan Sebastian Guerrero, an innocent 26 year old man on his way to work, was murdered by ICE agents—reportedly in front of his family, including his young child. While there is no world in which anything would justify this act, reports indicate that ICE agents stopped the wrong vehicle while attempting to execute an arrest warrant; Guerrero was not the target of this warrant. He committed no crimes, was legally authorized to live and work in the US, and was murdered in the street where his body was left for more than five hours.
While Maine experienced a surge in ICE activity at the beginning of the year, national coverage of this activity ceased when out-of-state agents retreated. ICE activity did not stop here in Maine, as made very clear by today's events.
The Maine Solidarity Fund was created last year by a collective of frontline organizations, cultural anchors, and direct service providers with deep ties to Maine’s Black and Brown immigrant and trans communities. The fund was designed to provide rapid-response funding to members of our most targeted communities. Since the fund's creation, well over $1,000,000 has been distributed to nearly 500 immigrant and trans Mainers.
Prior to today's events, the fund was running very low. Donations have begun to pick up in the aftermath of this shooting, but more are desperately needed. The organizations at the heart of the MSF are in contact with Guerrero's family and are at the helm of the state's anti-ICE structures and initiatives, including upcoming actions related to this shooting.
To those wishing to support immigrant communities in Maine, donating to the Maine Solidarity Fund is a wonderful way to do so.
(Please note that on the donation page, you may see that we've raised more than $1,000,000 out of our $2,000,000 goal. Almost all of what's been raised has been distributed—that number does not reflect funds currently available.)
Other important resources tied to the MSF and affiliated organizations include:
The Maine Immigrant Defense Hotline: A statewide and community-led rapid response and resource network providing real-time information, safety monitoring, and mutual aid for immigrant communities across Maine.
LighthouseME: A statewide resource hub connecting immigrant communities with trusted services and support.
Thank you, all. Please share if you're able.

the thing is that it's really not ur business if someone isn't doing all they can to "get better" or "live life to the fullest." accepting that other people are allowed to do or be "less" than u think they should – that they can be unwell or unhealthy or unconventional or restricted or unambitious or unaccomplished in your eyes & not strive to remedy this "fault" – is crucial to unlearning ableism, sanism, fatphobia, & anti-addict sentiment, among other prejudices. someone not trying to live ur idea of the best, healthiest, most interesting & fulfilling life does not give u the right to be cruel to them or insist they "fix" it to earn ur respect. fix your main character syndrome first.
for real tho it feels exhausting that ive seen this whole "woman should be allowed to abstain from X beauty standard" -> "i perform X beauty standard, am i evil? do you think im evil? please forgive me i came up with a dozen excuses 🥺" since like 2015 (and i know its been going on longer than that) like girl thats not the poiiiiint
look me in the eyes. repeat after me. "i face societal pressure to perform this beauty standard. i should not face that pressure. i conform to this standard. i am rewarded for performing to this standard. i need to respect women who do not perform this standard. this is not about whether or not i am a sinner for wearing makeup."
