American Jews, Muslims, etc: this country being Christian-centric is oppressive and harms people of other religions. We are constantly told not to participate in our own culture in public and Christian holidays are forced on us and we are told theyâre secular.
White neo-pagans: this is about me, clearly, because one lady once looked at my pentagram necklace and I could tell she was judging me and I am therefore also oppressed
broke: handwriting your grimoire in an unsecured journal
woke: typing your notes in a dedicated encrypted USB drive
bespoke: typing up your notes in a conlang and printing them out to paste in your physical grimoire
The US shouldnât be banning fighting cocks in Puerto Rico unless weâre ready to ban cornish cross meat birds in all the states but weâre not ready to have that conversation.
Im going to get some hate for this but basically:
The US government, thanks to militant animal rights groups like HSUS and PETA have banned raising birds for and participating in cock fights.
Iâm in no means supportive of the sport, which is cruel and painful for the animals involved.
However, cockfighting has been a part of the Puerto Rican culture for about 400 years. It is the livelihood for many people, and without it they would not be able to support their families.
They love their birds in the same way I love my birds. Treat them with love, honor, and respect, until the day they die, be that for meat or for cockfighting.
Again, Iâm not saying it is something I support, but itâs an important part of their heritage that many people would be devastated, financially and emotionally, to loose. There are farms that have been breeding these game birds for generations.
If Americans are going to police the practice of cock fighting in Puerto Rico, we need to get rid of cornish cross first.
Cornish Cross, also called white broilers or just CX are a line of hybrid (not genetically modified outside of breeding) chickens raised purely for meat.
They grow so big so quickly that it is impossible to raise them humanely. Trust me, I have tried. They can barely hold their own weight up. They sit by their feeder all day, just waiting for more food. The only way to keep them somewhat healthy is to practically starve them, keeping them on set meals and stunting their growth. That is what I had to do, and it was heartbreaking to watch birds I love being in pain and being so hungry all the time.
(Image description: Six large white cornish cross chickens standing in woodshavings and eating grain)
They are killed when they are still so young that their voices havenât completely deepened. If they arenât killed, they grow so large that they end up dieing from various conditions, like slipped tendons, heart attack, egg binding, or peritonitis.
Thatâs what happened to a CX I raised. She was the smallest in her clutch, and my dad got too attached to let me kill her. (I would have, if it had been up to me.) Because of her size, all the eggs she tried to lay got stuck inside of her, cracked, and killed her.
(Image description: A massive cornish cross chicken in front of a metal feeder. She is very dirty from sitting in poop all the time)
When living with my flock, she would sit in one spot all day, in her own feces, so that no matter how hard I tried, she still got horrible ammonia burns on her underside that stripped her of feathers.
As someone who breeds and farms chickens, I canât possibly support the existence of these birds.
But game birds? Theyâre healthy. Strong. The ones that win live long lives and are cherished by their owners. The standard for living for them is also much higher. They are kept healthy, given plenty of exercise, and have none of the health issues I had described earlier. Their owners treat them very well until they meet their end.
CX arenât ingrained in culture. But game birds are.
I would like to do away with the mistreatment of both of them, but frankly, CX are more of a priority in my eyes.
The typical sport of cockfighting sickens me to my stomach, but it is inherently racist and classist as hell to demand change from another culture when my own current system exploits these broilers to the degree it does.
Our priority should be fixing the things within our own system first rather than targeting others. How about we end puppy mills before we âban the dog meat tradeâ? How about we demand an end to inhumane Cornish X birds before we âabolish cockfightingâ? How about we work to improve standards in our own fur farms before âexpose and destroy this Chinese fur farmâ?
I donât deny all these things need reforming or abolishing, but we have to take these things one step at a time. You canât have the double standard of saying âIâll never support cockfighting since itâs cruel!â And then sit down and eat chicken for dinner. Every chicken you buy from a non heritage farm IS one of these Cornish X. You canât have those double standards for cruelty without accepting this movement to end cockfighting, end the dog meat trade, end all these things stems in racism and classism.
Cornish crosses should not exist. I have seen countless rescues and sanctuaries try desperately to save these birds, and while my heart bleeds for them, you cannot save them. Every single Cornish bird Iâve met who was a pet/rescue died of cardiopulmonary failure under a year old. Itâs absolutely gut wrenching. Iâve pulled these birds bodies off highways where theyâve fallen off transport trucks, and every time it shocks me that this giant is a baby. These meat birds are bigger than any of my 2-4 year old hens, and theyâre only 10 weeks old. Theyâre so big, but if you cut them open, thereâs a chickâs lungs and heart inside. Their organs and bones are so underdeveloped that they simply shut down under the pressure of their overdeveloped muscle and body. They truly should not exist.
Iâd ideally like to live in a world where cockfighting, bullfighting, and all animal blood sports donât exist. But it is nowhere my place to demand change in those areas until I change my own broken system. Isnât it an awful situation we have currently when I can say with absolutely certainty that those birds used in cockfighting live a far better life than those on our plates?
We need to reform those systems weâre actively a part of or rely on first and foremost rather than use classism and racism to harm those who have different cultures to our own.
Tarot and Geomancy Readings
Hey guys, so someone currently owes me a lot of money and I suspect it'll be paid back especially with the action I'm taking to make sure it is but it might take a while and I need a little something in between. I recently took Al Cummins geomancy course as well and will learning more from him in the coming month so my knowledge has improved since the last few readings.
My services
I offer tarot readings for $10 and geomancy readings for $15 USD, though I am best at geomancy. What is geomancy? It's a type of divination system utilizing the random generation of figures via a binary system, which originated from the middle east and northern Africa, before being adopted in the west during the renaissance, and getting a few more western techniques. I can answer all sorts of question from the more basic ones such as general advice, love, money, education, to the more specific or unusual such as spell/ritual advice, the value of a book, lost items, gardening, and so on. One type of question I automatically refuse to answer is health as I'm not a licensed medical professional. However, I may refuse any request that's sent to me if I find it unsuitable.
How to Request a Reading
Simply DM me with a request of a tarot or geomancy reading, and we can discuss payment methods. I prefer Cash App, PayPal, and ko-fi. I'll be able to generate your chart or pull your cards and give you the reading by 24 hours, and if there are any problems involved, feel free to let me know. After you've gotten the reading, feel free to ask any additional questions or clarification on it.

"Lucas is a fantastic geomancer, drawing out the details of each placement in a way that weaves both a sharp lens on the details and a helpful larger-scale map of the big picture. Each reading feels like a good set of directions, illuminating the road before you as well as pitfalls and rest opportunities. Very helpful, very useful." by @empyrealmoth
"Iâm glad I requested I poked Lucas for a reading! I posed a rather vague but personal question about my life. From the reading he was very skilled at ascertaining specific details I had not told him, exactly what I had been doing and thinking at that point, and recommendations on how to proceed with more concrete steps. I was especially impressed with the second part; he clearly has a very good handle on the meanings in each reading and definitely did not speak in generalities. This is so important to me in making a reading worthwhile." by @owl-core
christian zionism is so fucking dangerous. it subtly roots itself in evangelicalism and spreads to various churches. its based on a theology that is inherently antisemitic and is driven by islamophobic rhetoric. it is an extremely politically powerful ideology that influences us foreign policy and the current administration. what's terrifying about it is that the general population is not fully aware that it exists.
âBreaking the spell of useless superstitions - and embracing the magic of our healthy ones - may seem like a lot of work. Why not just jettison superstition altogether? Simply put, we canât. Our superstitions compose an essential part of the greatest enchantment of all, the one which wraps our souls up in this material world, so full of mystery and wonder. For all the trouble they cause, they also fuel our burning desire to discover the truths of this world, and we wouldnât be human without them.â

âi think it could be cool to honor ap/ep because death and decay is natural and should be honored, not shunnedâ
âitâs a shame that kemetics are so afraid of nonbeing, the main thing holding the kemetic community back is their unwillingness to worship entropy itself~â

Review!!!!!
I just had the privilege of being offered a free geomancy reading from @sola-invinctus. Not having had much experience with geomancy before, I decided to snatch the offer and see what it was like.
Iâm glad I did! This is so important to me in making a reading worthwhile.Â
@sola-invinctus is a talented reader - if you are looking to get an idea of what geomantic readings are like, consider checking out his services.
Thank you for the reading!
Shout-out to Jewish converts out there
The fact that you put in the work to be more observant and knowledgeable than I, a born Jew, have ever been, and put up with the judgements of others (inside and outside the community), all to be part of the Jewish people and the Jewish religion, is extremely inspiring. You are a force for good in the world, an inspiration, and should always feel appreciated.
Hey. I've been so tired and busy lately that I feel completely disconnected from my craft and I've no idea where to start again. Do you have any advice? x
I wrote a whole post on this at one point but I canât find it! Hereâs some general advice:
Be gentle with yourself. It will take a while to get back to where you were, but not as long as when you were first learning.
Know that your craft may be different. You had to step away (happens to the best of us) and now youâre returning. You may be different, and your craft may reflect that. Thereâs nothing wrong with that!
Rebuild the foundations. When was the last time you boosted your wards? Cleansed yourself and your space? Create a good base for yourself.
Start small. Enchant your morning drink, keep a crystal in your pocket, make a simple spell candle and burn it. Familiarize yourself with the craft again.
Start with what youâre excited about! Like I said, your craft doesnât have to be the same. Something about it wasnât working with the rest of your life. What makes you want to go back to it? What are you excited to learn about/try? Do those things!
EDIT: Found the original âhow to return to the craftâ post!

An Evocation of the Ancestors
Ancestors! Beloved Shades! We call to you in your realm of Shadows! We call to you from near and far, and deep below the earth. You to whom we owe our very existence, You are the highest of our loves, Come now unto us here, from your Undying Lands. Here to drink and feast with us Upon this water and bread we have set out of you. Come forth, mighty dead, here unto this space. KA!
How to Deepen Your Craft
Connect with land spirits. This need not be just trees and flowers; urban inventions are a part of the environment too. The land will teach you much, and it is always good to be on safe terms with the ground you walk on. Your surroundings are varied and rich and have seas of depth to them to both love and fear.
Keep in touch with the spirits. Make a habit of connecting with the spirits you know, not just with offerings, but with regular, enlightening contact; bargain with them, talk to them, work with them, know them. You are associated with them because they are important. Let them show that. This alone can make for an enriching experience.
Identify your place in the spirit world â or, know yourself. This can be an analysis of what you most deeply desire, what drives you to do magic, the types of spirits you connect to; what are you suited for? Who are you? What is your fetch like? What are you made of? What do you want out of this? Consider what you are naturally bound to, what you have chosen and been molded into, and what you want to become. Then actually pursue it.
Daily practices. Some people perform banishing rituals, some recite prayers with incense, some do automatic writing, some do awareness/attention practices, some meditate, some scry, others do other things. Find a way to touch this âother sideâ regularly and feel it. Boredly reading cards or drinking tea doesnât count. Actually enter the altered magical state we all know and love; stillness meditation and breathing techs work nicely if you donât want to do anything else.
Practice awareness. There is much more than the surface to just about everything, including yourself. There is a serpent in the ground and there is a mutual darkness in the sky, in the trees, in between your ribs. The world is a web. Look at it closely, and do not forget the body inside of your body; it moves just as much as you do. Not only is this just peaceful to practice, but it will also assist in actual magical work.
Study. Just donât get stuck in the armchair.
Do not do yourself a disservice by lying to yourself about your progress or effort. You are only stunting your growth to save from the creeping notion that you didnât do something right. Treat yourself better; accept when you do something questionable and adjust accordingly. You can do this. You owe it to yourself to be honest.
Actually do magic. Design workings, plan them, study them, create changes, record your results, fail, try again, get better. Work with your spirits, work with your soul, heal, hex, cause storms, draw attention to yourself, render yourself invisible; do magic. Itâs what you were made to do.
