On an added note, there’s a power dynamic going on between Varian and Cassandra.

And Varian is the one with more power here. By all means, Cassandra should have the advantage, but she’s actually losing in this scene.

Look at their body language.

Varian is standing his ground. His movements are limited and controlled. He’s constantly reaching out to Cass, and his focus is solely on her, even when she’s exerting power over him and pushes him away. He’s not wavering. He’s full of conviction and knows what he needs to do. He knows he needs to reach her somehow, even if that means getting brutally honest.

“You’ve lost your grip and lost your mind.” Seriously, that’s harsh, and he’s man enough to say it.

Cass is losing ground. She’s all over the place, her gestures are all over the place, and she looks like she’s trying NOT to believe what Varian is saying. And when she’s about to lose the argument (because she has no argument), she retreats and resorts to using force to try and silence him.

I think it’s because she knows he’s right. In fact, he’s practicing what he’s preaching. He received forgiveness, and he’s offering it to her. But in her mind, to accept it would mean admitting she was wrong. And Cass is too prideful for that.

But Varian’s been there. I believe he is the one who can reach Cass. Maybe not right now, but he’s persistent. I do believe he will reach her somehow.

All the members of the brotherhood are so huggable but have at least 1 thing that just keeps them from reaching maximum snug.

Wow. Over a month later, and my S3 premiere piece is finally finished. xD

I’m so happy that these two are back to being friends again, I love their sibling-like relationship so much! And although I still feel like there was a lot of potential left untouched with Varian’s role as a temporary villain - I have to say, it’s worth it if I get these two back in my life again.

I’m so excited to see how much more they’re going to grow in the final season!!

Saw some Cosplayers looking for S3 Varian costume reference so I thought I’d upload my designs and turns of him. These were all colored by the Amazing Teri Shikasho!

Also you can all thank Kaitlyn Ritter (whose “K” initial appears on Varian’s Villian Costume gauntlet) and Anna Lencioni for getting rid of Varian’s goatee! Look, I thought it was a good idea until Anna came up with the gag of Lance wiping it off. Judging from the fandom’s reaction I’m sure glad she did! Ha ha!

A gift piece I did for an old friend!

*S2 SPOILERS BELOW*

Basically it’s just an AU where instead of yeeting his infant son into an orphanage on the other side of the planet, King Edmund gives Eugene to Quirin to take care of, so Eugene and Varian grow up as age gap brothers. They still enjoy the heck out of the Flynnigan Rider books and in all their adventures Varian looks up to Eugene as the legendary Flynn. Also Eugene helps Varian steal chemicals and stuff from other scientists and magicians because he’s a sucker for his brother. Eugene always gets blamed for it because little Varian couldn’t possibly have done that! So Eugene is still one of the most wanted thieves in the kingdom.
