Hey! So, about that fat shaming post, when I was about 20, I was Christmas shopping with my family and most of them have always had an issue with my weight, anyway my mum says something, I exactly can't remember what and my aunt goes 'Of course not! We don't want G to end up as fat as F (me).' And they said that right in front of me, which honestly was really hurtful because at that time I was still in college/uni and I was top of my class, with a part time job in the field and you know, any parents dream and just because I was fat, nothing else mattered. I was the fat cousin with no future, and nothing to offer.

I’m so sorry. I know exactly how that feels. It sucks so fucking much that no matter how successful and happy we are, all anyone will see is our body shape and suddenly none of it matters. It’s amazing (terrible) how being big can make you feel so small.

For all my fellow humans who struggle with their weight, what was the moment that made you feel so much less human for being fat?? The moment that made you realize no matter what you do, there will always be people who take that away from you just for being fat??

I’ll start. I was 12 or 13 years old and an artistic roller skater (it’s real, I promise). By this time I was already a national champion and even though I was fat, I was more athletic than many members of my team.

My coach was weirdly obsessed with our weight, and at one point I had lost like 5 pounds and she said, “If you keep this up, you’ll be really pretty by the time you’re 15/16 years old.”

Even now as a (mildly) successful adult, I feel like all she sees is that I’m still fat.
