Max Mayfield Headcanons

1. She is 100% the friend that trauma dumps as a joke not realizing her experiences are not universal. (El is the only one who laughs, also not getting it) 

2. She goes through Billy’s things after he dies and grabs any small thing Neil won’t notice gone. It’s mostly cassettes, and it’s here she finds Kate Bush. Max thinks a girl must have given it to Billy but she also thinks that if it was him who bought it, it might have been one of the only things they could have talked about.  3. Max is quiet in class 

4. She has to go to the school counselor because she punched a kid on the first day of freshmen year. 

5. Max tells herself she doesn’t open up to Miss Kelly because  she can’t without mentioning the upside down but really there’s a lot she could say but it feels like a betrayal of Billy because all they had were secrets. 

6. She never got the belt like Billy,  but she has had to stand over the sink with  soap in her mouth a lot. 

7. Max can sing, like really good. The only person in the party that knows is Lucas.

 8. Neil makes them all go to church and when he finds out Max can sing he signs her up for choir. Billy thinks it’s hilarious and the only reason she continues with it is because A) no one else in the party goes to their church, and B) Neil gives her quarters after every performance.
