“The UN is wrong, you can’t just throw $30 billion out there and solve world hunger for good” This is correct, under capitalism it’s impossible to solve world hunger or poverty because a level of destitution is necessary for the availability of cheap labor so we’re limited to ‘solutions’ that don’t last or never happen–but, the $30 billion statistic, when compared to annual earnings of top income earners, shows it would actually be possible to consistently do such a thing (seven times over in 2017), which is crazy and should be acknowledged in the conversation surrounding the actual effectiveness in profit leading to human wellbeing.
