You ever think about how in The Headband, we're introduced to a side of the Fire Nation that's had its culture whittled away by a hundred years of imperial wartime propaganda. And how perhaps the most damning expression of this is that students are forbidden from dancing. And so Aang, maybe the only person on the planet who still truly remembers the Fire Nation of old, from before the war, brings it back to them.

And then we get to The Firebending Masters. Zuko's entire young adulthood has been spent using his anger towards the Fire Nation's enemies, his drive to capture the Avatar, as a crutch. And now he doesn't have that crutch anymore. So he and Aang set out on a pilgrimage, going to the birthplace of firebending itself, in search of answers. In search of a way to express the power of fire that isn't fueled by rage or smothered by fear. And they find a dance.

not sure what happened but i have live snoozed and it used to prevent it from showing up in the bottom navigation bar on mobile (ios)

but it has since stopped doing that so now even with live snoozed it’s still there, and i would like it to Not Be

it’s not on my dash at least but i don’t want it on the navigation bar either

Answer: Hey, @jellyfishdotorg!

As you might have noticed, there have been some updates to how snoozing Tumblr Live works. Snoozing will continue to hide Live from your dashboard, but the navigation icon will remain in your navigation bar.

This means you’ll be able to watch anyone you follow go Live without having to unsnooze the whole thing! Additionally, we’ve increased the snooze period from 7 to 30 days.

Snooze means to turn it off. Not half off - off. Not front and center on the navigation menu so it can be accidentally hit and require extra steps to back out of a feature one doesn't want to participate in. Off.

Absolutely vile move and completely patronizing and nonsensical explanation. How many people have complained about having to go through the terrible ordeal of unsnoozing Tumblr Live to watch a stream? How many people have complained about not being able to permanently opt out?

au where sokka and zuko are neighbors and a young izumi keeps wandering over to sokka’s yard when he’s outside and talking to him or asking him to play with her and so on and zuko always walks over like “sorry if she’s bothering you, she seems to really like you for some reason” and sokka always beams and insists it’s no problem and finds a way to start a conversation with zuko for the next twenty minutes while izumi chalks his entire driveway or something and it happens over and over again. because zuko keeps bribing izumi to go over there in the first place. and sokka keeps finding things to do in his yard or open garage.

That was the point of the agni kai. Not that zuko had disrespected him. He just saw an opportunity to do it in a way that benefited him

And then well zuko did the one thing that could have forced ozai to allow him to live. He very publicly refused to fight. And a fire lord punishing and banishing his son is one thing, a fire lord publicly executing his kneeling, sobbing son is another.

Banishment had the same effect anyway.

Zuko would have died right there if he had actually tried to fight back. It's what he was supposed to do.

one aspect of avatar canon i feel like isn't talked about nearly enough is the fact that zuko canonically has prophetic dreams

like during zuko's Morality Coma in season 2 he has an incredibly vivid dream about two red and blue dragons, and then in season 3 he just fucking. meets the exact same dragons for real? there are slight differences in how they look but otherwise he genuinely just dreamed about ran and shaw months before actually seeing them in person? and it's never elaborated on but huh???

They’re also shooting for 100% renewable plastic sources by 2030! All of the soft plant/leaf elements in sets right now and going forward are made out of bioplastic made from sugarcane, and they’re working on getting the regular hard plastic bricks out of that, too.

They’ve done it, actually! The full bricks are in the prototype stage now, and are expected to be 100% biodegradable without the need for a commercial compost facility. It’s very cool. Right now they’re testing the durability and playability of the bricks and seeing what needs to be revised/reworked on their final model.

Actually, this isn’t “easy” and is huge news. You see, Lego is absolutely meticulous about their quality control. Their standards for manufacturing are stupidly high, as are their safety requirements. You know that distinctive “click” when you pop two Lego bricks apart? They engineered that. That sound is so distinctive that it can be used to tell genuine Lego bricks from counterfeits and it’s a sound that would be based on shape and material.

Furthermore, one of the hard requirements for a Lego brick is that it must be compatible with any other Lego brick. If I buy a set today and pull a set from the 1980s? Those bricks would fit together perfectly. This requires a huge amount of precision engineering and controls on manufacturing quality. (I can’t remember the source, but I’ve at least heard that once the brick molds wear to a certain point, they’re pulled from the line and either melted down or turned into construction material for Lego HQ. Point being, no one is getting their hands on a worn Lego mold)

Recycled and non-petroleum plastics are different from other plastic. The chemistry is different. The timing and process to use them is different. This has been a reason why more companies haven’t moved to them, because there’s a drop in quality for material (so they claim).

What Lego just did is completely obliterate that argument. The corporation with some of the strictest quality control requirements for plastic just kicked the basic foundation of the “bad quality” argument out from under it, because if they feel confident enough to guarantee the same experience as using a brick from over 40 years ago, if they are confident enough that they can meet their own metrics at a huge industrial scale….

Nobody else has any excuse.
