Hazbin Hotel Season 2 spoilers
Let's talk about Alastor.
I feel like his overall character was fumbled.
During season 1, Alastor was built up as this incredibly powerful individual. His power was hinted at, and it even seemed like his mysterious deal was hindering his abilities somehow. Then they had him lose the fight with Adam, Alastor barely lasted 5 hits before he was down for the count.
Do I think Alastor should have won that fight? No. But, I do think that the fight should have lasted longer, with both Alastor and Adam dealing damage to the other. The fight could have ended with Adam getting a good hit in and Alastor going down, which could have triggered Charlie to step in and defeat Adam.
Instead, they made an allegedly powerful character fall so easily.
Now, this could have been caulked up to the deal Alastor made. But that's not the case.
Am I the only one who finds it kinda lame that Rosie owns Alastor's soul? I do like Rosie's character and her relationship with Alastor. I just don't like the new dynamic. It would have been really interesting to see Alastor in league with a powerful demon, like Lilith or Lucifer or one of the other Sins.
The Lucifer angle could have been cool. While Lucifer doesn't openly support his daughter, he also doesn't want her to get hurt. So, he sends in a caretaker to protect her and the hotel. This way, Lucifer himself doesn't have to make an appearance and completely overshadow Charlie's moment in that final battle.
Hazbin Hotel has a really interesting concept, but a lot of weird choices were made with the overall story. Like Lucifer's presence and Alastor's deal.
