Just a tired Panera employee

At my Panera our catering person, shift lead, and a manager quit within a month. Also almost every week they schedule at least one shift out of my availability, they fuck up everyone's scheduling and it's so obnoxious

It’s amazing the fact that sooooo many people hate working there and so many people quit, especially lately, and yet no one cares. no one pays attention to the way that employees are treated and the fact that everybody is miserable all the way up the fucking ladder. my old DM quit because she got more stressed and unhappy the higher she got in the company. She said that after she quit she was immediately happier. 

and personally, my mental health greatly improved after I quit working for Panera.

So we have this regular who we call Crazy Cab Lady (I don’t know why, that’s what I was told when I started). She comes in at least three times a week and gets the same thing.

She gets a UP2 with half Green Goddess Cobb salad and half Turkey Avocado BLT (BUT MAKE THE SANDWICH TO-GOOSHSJSGRDVSJ). No drink, but she still complains about not getting the pastry for 99 cents every. Single. Time. And she always wants the same pastry.

“A blueberry scone with the least amount of powdered sugar.” Its half and half. I can’t take it off. It was brushed on before it was baked.

She then proceeds to go to the pick up window and leeeeean over the counter, reach out her arm, and direct everything because she obviously knows where everything is and knows how to do the job better than the line workers who are paid to know it.

She also makes the other customers super uncomfortable all the time. She’ll come in, stand at the counter like she isnt about to order the exact same fucking thing, and try to make small talk with the other customers who are trying to figure out what they want. And it’s always compliments about Panera? Like, lady, you dont need to sell this place to them. They’re here. You’re going to make them either leave or end up eating YOU because they couldnt concentrate long enough to pick out a damn panini.

So I went inactive at panera because it was ruining my life being full time lmao

A few weeks ago, I picked up a shift because everything was fucked(like it always is) and I wanted to be nice.

The owner, the district manager, and the general manager all came up to me within 20 minutes of me coming in to kiss my ass and try to get me to come back. And then for the entire lunch rush I was the only person on sandwiches, they took advantage of me at every chance, and I have not been paid for it yet.

Panera is trash.

"for your side do you want the bread, Apple, or chips?, "ummm half and half please" bitch what.

Or they say they want the apple chips and it’s like...,.do I need to speak more slowly? Also who tf..what restaurant has apple chips as a side?!

Only at panera can a coworker no call no show for a week and still have a job

The closing manager didn’t ice the soups last night so we had to throw away $600 worth of fucking soup this morning

So this whole cream cheese issue is getting really old. Customers are angry and asking us what exactly they expect us to put on their bagel, managers are incapable of stocking out the cream cheese properly so then we have online orders coming in aka more angry customers....I just wanna know one thing. Do you want listeria????? It’s not our fault the shit was contaminated and you’re welcome for not poisoning you.

So like yeah panera is a shithole and everything but the amount of garlic herb spread that I’ve eaten by itself is astounding

Found out my GM was adjusting the catering lady’s hours and cheating her out of 18 minutes without her knowledge. Which isn’t a lot but it’s super illegal and this company/franchise has turned into such a money-grubbing shithole.

So I am going down to 2 days a week at panera. I’ll try to stay as active as possible!

1/23 Today was one of those day where your all over the place. I was running around doing a million things. I was the bakery opener. Someone poured their coffee in the small trash can when I directed them to put it in the larger bin. Then this one guy comes every other week and orders 2 dozen bagels the night before but whoever took the order put it in random place (and since no one communicates, its never ready)when I tried to find it and then we got in a mini argument about butter. I know our butter is free but having me fill a whole bag of butter is dumb. Buy a tub.

Yesterday a guest walked up to the counter where I was QC with a plate piled high with trash and half eaten food. I let her know that the trash can was right next to the door, about 15 feet away. Her face scrunched into a VERY ugly look and she said “I don’t have time to do your job for you!” And she roughly put the plate on my counter, which sent napkins and food scattering across it. She then stomped out of the building, passing the trash can on her way out...

Please stop shitting on food service workers, thank you, have a nice fucking day.

People who walk to the cold drink station and then get angry because we don’t have any coffee out

Panera, oh Panera....what the fuck, man. It was snowing since about 2am this morning and I had to go in and open..90% of the staff for the day called out..there were almost no customers at all...I was not allowed to leave early to ensure my safety.

We didn’t cancel delivery until 9:30, when there was already about 3 inches of snow ON THE ROAD.

I made it home thankfully, but the roads are still a disaster and I have to open again tomorrow.

Sorry for the inactivity!! I’ll be back at work on Friday and 2.0 just started in my cafe so I’m sure I’ll have some horror stories for you all

I took some days off of work to get my wisdom teeth removed but now I have the flu on top of that and I’m scared to see what my cafe looks like after I’ve been gone for so long

Yesterday was half awful but half good. I opened Bakery and the Line opener couldn’t get the egg machine to work. So no eggs for a while which was awkward. Also we have these bakers who are so rude even my GM has argued with them. Everything was so behind I didn’t have pastries until almost 7:30-8 and was getting bread in parts. Also they always cover the bagels and leave the racks in front of the registers.

I open tomorrow...New Years day. The morning where people usually throw up and cry and sleep it off. I didn’t get enough sleep the last two nights and I certainly won’t tonight.

Please dear customers,...stay home until 3 tomorrow. Nurse your hangover with something other than panera. Thanks in advance.
