This is literally how I did all of Spectacle. It made coloring so extremely easy and looked amazing. I had a master file where I put all the characters base colors on the bottom layer, and then above it I had an overlay for bright daylight, indoors by candlelight, nighttime, spooky green glow, romantic pink, and low saturation flashbacks. I'd just turn on whatever mood that page was supposed to have, and it was a breeze from there.
