My first week’s animation homework! :D
every week we have to animate 8-10 seconds, and our first assignment was open ended so i decided to challenge myself to animate dancing~
Tourist-y Places of San Diego
For my LCD class we had a Wayfinding assignment, you know those circles with Letters and stuff in them at airports that let drivers know which terminal they have to go to? My professor wanted us to design a set of those for a place of our choosing. I chose my hometown San Diego, because that is what I’m most familiar with, and I felt like if it was home I would try harder not to mess it up. The point of the project was to design a set of symbols that would be immediately recognizable, and make them noticeably a set.
I think I’m finally comfortable with my design for Wynzir, the main character of Child of Lost Dialects! I’m still developing her character, I found a bunch of character development questions that I’m working on for her, which I’ll post once I’m done with so you can know more about her
I drew and inked her by hand and then colored it on photoshop cs4
I finally finished my logo animation for my 4D class!
we had to design a logo for ourselves, animate it and then add sound
Wynzir
This is the main character of my most developed comic idea, Child of Lost Dialects, her name is Wynzir, and you will discover more about her eventually
Words on a Rather Odd Fool
this is a typography portrait I did for my computer art class in high school, I’m very proud of this one to be honest
Sea Slug Mermaid
I’m actually very fond of merfolk with a variety of different sea creatures besides fish. And sea slugs are possibly my favorite variety of sea creatures so of course I felt obligated to combine the two
I’m actually particularly fond of this sketch because of the story behind it
I came home from being picked up one day, my ma was driving and one of my brothers was in the backseat. As we pulled in front of our home, I noticed a shirtless guy sitting on the grass in front of our complex. He seemed to be meditating, he had his eyes closed and would occasionally change positions, so very much like a model for an art class would, so of course I decided I reeeaaallly wanted to draw him. I was thinking I’d just run in, get my sketchbook and pencil and sit out on the grass in front of him and start drawing. But my brother rejected the idea, said it was too weird, so my ma let me sit in the car to draw instead so that I wouldn’t be as obvious about it. But because my brother and I had argued about it for so long, I only had a short amount of time to sketch this before he stood up and left, I never even got to his face, so it sat faceless for a while.
Fast forward a couple months, and my older brother who lives out of state came home for a visit, I like to keep my brothers updated on my progress as an artist because they are the ones who’ve helped me improve the most. So as I was showing him my sketchbook, I came across this again so I related the story and before I knew it, he had taken the pencil from my hair (I used to keep pencils in my ponytail when my hair was long enough) and he lightly drew the smiley face. My sketch was henceforth no longer faceless!
I decided to keep the face because I felt like we had a great bonding moment over it, I don’t get to see him often because he goes to a different college than me, so this reminds me of him and his antics, its very nostalgic for me~
I really don’t have a title for this, I’ll come up with a name for it later
Nyx: Goddess Enjoys FireworksÂ
I really enjoy this one because during the Summer I shoot fireworks(legally, with a crew and fire marshal, for concert events in my hometown) with my dad, and this piece was heavily inspired by a particularly amazing show we put off, plus imagine actually having fireworks go off in your hands without hurting you, oh gods that would be the best~
