ahhh i meant to post this earlier! as a player since 1.3 (i missed 1.2’s the chalk prince and the dragon event so i don’t have festering desire… clenches fist), i’m so so so happy that durin is finally playable! i can hardly believe it… i love his design, his story quest, his gameplay, and that he turned out to be such a sweetheart 🥺🥺🥺 i would protect him with my life haha

so yeah i love everything about our new little durin!! BUT… (unless i understood it wrong) i don’t like how the writers made out OG durin to be a purely “evil” dragon and implied that he was fully dead… when in truth he was just a scared, confused, lost creature, tainted by the abyss and abandoned by his creator… he didn’t want to be evil. his dying thoughts from the text of the dragonspine spear inspired me to make this piece. i want to believe that a part of OG durin lives inside this durin, so he can finally experience all these happy moments, like singing and dancing with venti and getting along with the people of mondstadt, that he desperately wanted in his first life 🥹

it’s a shame more vampire media doesn’t pull from vampire bat behavior because they’re such sweeties. they can only survive their incredibly specialized diet because bats will share blood with colony members that didn’t find a meal! there’s evidence that suggests the donors sometimes initiate this behavior themselves by approaching hungry bats! the colonies are mostly harems of females with a few males but they’ve been observed letting unrelated males in when it gets cold so they can all stay warm! cute little social critters!

I'm fascinated by how the animators for TADC handle Caine's impossible anatomy so well. There's so much to balance and they've somehow engineered a solution for his expressions to hold during speech.

I also traced Caine answering the phone from episode 4 to demonstrate his phonemes and mouth shapes.
