I post some things that people may be uncomfortable with, in particular, fictional incest, fictional relationships with predatory age gaps, and pictures of bugs (including spiders and wasps).

Some notes on tagging for blacklist purposes under the cut
Bugs are all tagged #bugs, insects are tagged #insects, spiders and wasps follow the same pattern.
Incest ships are tagged as #shipcest, non-shippy incest will be tagged as #incest, predatory age gaps (regardless of shippyness) will be tagged as #age gap. The #age gap tag is rarely used and mostly Hatoful Boyfriend ship art.

Visual novels are great! I love to read a book on my computer where there's music and I can look at the characters' faces. Really great for my attention span

the extended atla franchise is really proof for why an IP-based approach to art does not work because while it is true that michael dante dimartino and bryan konietzko Created atla, it should be clear from the quality of the rest of the installments in the franchise with their name/stamp of approval on it that they were not the deciding factor in the quality of the original show. in fact, many if not Most of the series best episodes were written by head writer aaron ehasz and his then-wife elizabeth welch. neither of theses two have the Right to make more avatar even though they're a big part of what Made It in the first place.
ehasz then went out to put out 'the dragon prince' for netflix which was not a show i was crazy about but i think i feel pretty confident in calling it better than legend of korra.
now what's also notable about this situation is that ehazs is a notorious enough misogynist to have a section of his wikipedia page devoted to his alleged professional mistreatment of women
elizabeth on the other hand has absolutely no presence online whatsoever. ATLA is her only writing credit. She wrote eight episodes of the show including Zuko Alone, The Avatar and the Fire Lord, and The Southern Raiders. She and aaron are now also divorced.
Now, if you know anything about how misogynist male creatives working in the same field as their wives operate, then you can probably reach the same conclusion I have. If a man is willing to treat female coworkers like his nanny and assistant as a baseline, imagine what he feels entitled to expect from a female coworker that is also his wife. I would not be surprised if much of the work on ATLA that ehasz was able to build his career off of would not have been nearly as good without a lot of behind the scenes assistance from elizabeth.
so of the 4 people mentioned here, the one with the absolute least claim of any entitlement to the Intellectual Property of the avatar franchise is overwhelmingly likely to be the most responsible for the meaningful character and narrative writing that caused ATLA to even earn enough accolades to be worth franchising in the first place.

I've been thinking about trans woman egg Vash again and how I really, genuinely think it's a plausible reading of the text.
The main thing that brought me here is Vash's fundamental discomfort with his own body, both in being embarrassed about how it looks and his fear of it being dangerous. Which obviously are already explained by other factors in the text, but still lend him more easily to a transfem reading than a transmasc one, imo
Like... Vash is hot and powerful and he doesn't particularly take any pride in this! That doesn't read as someone who has happily taken initiative to shape his own body to be as masculine as it is!

Instead his body is understood as a site of violence, both violence done to him and violence he's afraid of inflicting against his will. I don't think it's a stretch to take the angel arm as a phallic symbol, given how sexually charged the July incident is (and to a lesser extent, Fifth Moon, as well). If you're reading it that way, you could have what happens in those scenes representing the fear of being a dangerous man and the idea that using a penis sexually is a violent act. Even though Vash is the one being violated, it's his arm which is forced to become a weapon. Which is the kind of fear a woman who sees how dangerous men can be under the patriarchy might have about herself, when she's told that she's supposed to be a man and that her body is a man's body. Even if she isn't consciously thinking about it in those terms
In contrast, the main ways Vash takes ownership of his own body are through clothing and hair that draws attention away from his body and towards his own personal style, including a long coat that covers the shape of his body and defines his silhouette
In conclusion: someone tell her she can be a woman. Please. It wouldn't fix all the shit Knives is doing, but it might help her feel a tiny bit better about herself
