Day 3: Silver - @monthlywritingchallenges
For Moon June, I’m going to be writing excerpts from a current project of mine, The Language of Wolves. These are all out-of-order and -out-of-context; They’re mostly just to get my creative juices flowing. Keep in mind that they’re also unedited.
Niv fumbled around in her satchel. She hadn’t taken much money when she left; She hadn’t known how much her mother had left.
What she found was a handful of silver coins, each one engraved with the Olgravian seal. She held them up sheepishly.
The wagon driver raised an eyebrow, and Niv registered for the first time how strange she looked compared to the people of Kerest, auburn-haired and pale, with thin, angular features that made her gaze look all the more critical. She hadn’t realized quite how far she had traveled.
“That won’t get you far, here,” she said, her voice gruff. “You’ll need some of this,” she dug around in the pocket of her apron, “To get much out of anyone.” She held up a small rectangle of blue paper with a pattern Niv couldn’t make out.
Niv straightened, resisting the urge to smack her forehead. Of course she would need Thastan money.
The woman turned and made her way back to the wagon, and Niv sighed, preparing herself for the long trek ahead. But the wagon driver held up a hand and waved her over.
Perhaps she didn’t need Thastan money yet.
Damn this is a great idea I’m in and inspired

Hey I’m back and I have a full rough draft of my movie, EDGELIGHT
If you can please give it a read and tell me what you think.
Alestyna sits in a mirror in a beautiful wedding dress with the most depressed face. She is being married off to a person of mutual despise but her back is against the wall for the sake of power consolidation, the merge prize? A greater catalyst crystals and the end of a war.
Warned beforehand by her true love, Daes, that this is a death sentence and that she should run but the only thing strong enough to set her free is a power from the catalyst crystal a plan is hatched to save her life. She is punished for the thought of running away but that sets her resolve.
Daes visits her for one last time to embrace and hatch her escape. They spend this time saying their fair wells and wishes that they could have had that peaceful life. The plan is set, he vows to give her an opening and swear that he will be safe
Before she’s led to her doom, alestyna uses the plan catching all attendants in shock at her action and the catalyst crystal of the joint clans are in her hands, her radiant glowing body stops the room as a crack in the space opens pulling her into the void. As she falls through the void, and even though she looks more powerful than before, she falls crying and alone, not sure if she deserves a new world.
We wake up late in the afternoon, a man Tut wakes up in bed to the orange from a proto hightech window. He grabs his phone and he has 5 messages and 3 of them are late bill alerts the other 2 are his mother reminding him to take meat out the freezer. He gets up and gets dressed for work heading down stairs to grab his lunch and head out into a cramped barely cared for neighborhood that is swarmed with S.H.A.D.E. (Super Humans Against Devesating Events)soldiers that are similar in style but dressed in different attire. Their high tech suits and gear catches the eye, especially Tut who wanted to be like them to have a hand in helping his province rebound from its downfall but was sent to work in the factories making their gear.
After a long shift it's nearly time to go until tut makes an accident that puts his job on the line and in the end after pleading he is given a suspension and sent home. While on his way home thinking about what he is going to do when suddenly a crack in the open and out flies alestyna with the catalyst and once the crystal hits the ground, it shatters sending most of its shards across the world.
Tut tracks down the impact site and once he arrives he finds alestyna in a crater with crystal shards around ground zero of the event, after waking her up she frantically starts to regather the shards until Tut started to help to her dismay and at that moment Tut was overwhelmed with flashes of realizations that was forced on to him, the visions of new dimensions were too powerful for him he couldn't contain his fear of facing the unrecognizable and in the physical world around him, its began to rain granite ore sideways across the earths horizon causing devastation in the city he dreams to protect.
Alestyna catches him and helps him calm down helping him control his powers in that moment. Sirens approach and after finding out that they would be in trouble if they stay and he should run but Tut kept his faith in S.H.A.D.E. praying that he could use the powers for good but once they ran test on Tuts ability all they talked about was how they could use his for infrastructure or a secret soldier, in those moments S.H.A.D.E. said too much, letting it be known that S.H.A.D.E. is the occupying force that robbing Tuts province, he remembers what alestyna tells him and he makes his escape.
After escaping tut goes into hiding and stays hidden in an abandoned messy home in the worst part of town as a manhunt is underway shutting down the city. He doesn't know what to do and he contemplates the unthinkable to spare himself from this fate thats when alestyna finds him again to stop him “if you are brave enough to face that fate into the unknown then imagine using that fearless resolve to stop what is bring you to these ends” Tut agrees to go on this mission with her, she teaches him how to use his powers, he helps her collect all the lost pieces of the catalyst crystal and together they learn how to survive in this new mode of life.
Act 2
Alestyna teaches tut about the basis of his powers while he teaches her things about the history of Edgelight. Realize a great deal of his issue is the ability to stay calm enough to stay in control of his powers in order to collect the shards
Alestyna picks up on an active shard and realizes its time to act but they ran a risk of running into S.H.A.D.E. but the thought of them getting the shards before them propelled them in action. The crisis kicks in when dealing with the crystal shard, S.H.A.D.E. starts to learn what the crystals truly are fully mobilizing to collect them and fighting Tut along the way
Show down over a particularly dangerous shard that puts Edgelight into crisis danger once S.H.A.D.E. unleashes its energy a city block was put in danger. Tut and alestyna spring into action to get to the shard before anymore damage can be done.
The treasure at the end of the ordeal is won by tut and the shard and adds it to alestyna collection making the catalyst full again, S.H.A.D.E. watches and plots to make a move.
In tuts meditation to find more shards they were ambushed and caught off guard by S.H.A.D.E. the catalyst is stolen along with alestyna who managed to help tut escape. Tut now alone enters a new trial.
Act 2 part 2
Tut realize what's fully at stake. If alestyna is placed in the same situation he was in they were gonna turn her into a soldier and with the semi complete catalyst they would have more than enough to enter a period of world domination. So he begins to train with what he has
While tut is fighting out in the streets to get to Alestyna, he stops to gain more fire power from the shards that were still lost. In S.H.A.D.E. HQ alestyna is being pressured to talk about the catalyst. Feeling like she is being reminded of her home she ran from she becomes really defiant and will not cooperate until they silenced and began to look through her memory on how to use the crystal properly soon all the soldiers became stronger mobilizing for something big.
Platoons of soldiers flood the streets blocking S.H.A.D.E. hq and they are using powers they told the citizens to stay away from and a fight between the helpless citizens and S.H.A.D.E. begins. People are getting hurt until tut steps in with his arsenal where he fights off many soldiers until wolfgang and macintosh appears. It was a hard fight, tut lost most of his arsenal but he came out victorious as he enters his place of business where he was suspended to find a tapped out brain washed alestyna and they being to fight
Tut uses the same method alestyna used to bring him back to reality and after being beaten to a pulp tut manages to break through to alestyna saving her life.
Alestyna and tut teams up and use a team attack alestyna promised to show him once he did something amazing or worth her while and they begin to destroy S.H.A.D.E. HQ tut finds the control panel to all the used and hoarded resources and programs some codes
Act 3
Commander Brine is still alive along with the most dangerous members of S.H.A.D.E. though they declared themselves victors, that thought faded once dams reopened, food and seeds delivered by drone dropped goods and packages over the city and proof that they do live in a good world/the powers that be were behind the degrading of lives across the province.
A new public service team steps up to the plate for edgelight with Tut on its team to help maintain the catalyst problem that still continues and help open the world to its new source of abundance and security. Even though its been set by a higher power and packed with people that were the problem, tut vows to keep an eye on them all, setting a new stage behind closed doors for…change.
A new era is shown to be formed, though the citizens are weary and timid for the future. Tut makes himself the example to flow through meditation like alestyna showed him to control his mind and imagination.

I recently got married 5/23/26.
I said that me and my wife looks like bowser and peach and I’m not changing that head cannon. (She spun the world into motion making this event btfw)
I hate to admit it, but I’m so glad I noticed it, but I think I’m not progressing in my writing the way I want to is because I keep forgetting to go back to my character reference sheet. And if I’m forgetting to go to my character reference sheet, then there got to be something in that sheet that isn’t complete.
May I please get some help staying on track when it comes to making my story?
When it’s time for me to get started, it’s like I think too much of the plot and end up forgetting to reference my character sheets and I think that is my biggest disconnect
Can anybody relate? Can somebody help me out make a solid character sheet or what I would be missing to make that solid character sheet.
Nearly 10 lbs of cookie dough.
So I’ve been in my main character timeline of events for the past few weeks and I swear it feels like a tv show and I’m sorta just writing this with as much anonymity and vagueness as possible to fictionalize it a bit but this is literally how it’s been running for me. Like a fictional non fiction because anime ruined me.
I call it my main character timeline work because it’s deeply engrained in what I do for a living.
You see, I’m living the life of a modern worker by day and a member of a counter culture lead movement to infiltrate and take control of a powerful workers union.
Yeah that seems like a lot but you don’t understand what it’s like to be there, my family made there living from that hell hole for 5 generations. I’m the 5th; before i entered that place I’ve been through rougher places but I was still advised to talk to 4th generation to see what they had to say. 4th mostly avoided answering, passing off the honor of obvious trauma spilling from their thousand yard stare before they could even form a sentence. I see now, I see now. Life is not meant to be lived like this as a way to survive.
In fact being there has only made me see so many things. If I don’t do something now my life would be trapped and i nearly believed it was. Until i met the counter culture.
“Would you believe working in a union that takes a part of your check and still some how can’t stop the unfair treatment of the workers?”
“Do you realize how much time you will spend at work and never break even with bills?”
It was those few questions that made me feel like for the first time someone understood what I was saying.
How peculiar, someone so far off in age where my contemporaries have failed to inspire me this random old man who should be retired spoke to my soul for a second and made me realize I hated everything this world wants to force us to play in, to die in.
That is my main character life so far and through my teachings I’ve took my step to make my path in uniting workers in my generation to restore the power to the working class before the next workers contract or global event set upon by our mad tyrant of a king and I’ve finished my first arc gaining 122 votes to change the trajectory of workers rights in our recent election
Post election and growth results
I’ve gained allies, realized there are many others counter cultures under the same banner looking to change the world (but can we work together) I met a city elected commissioner and his daughter who was running in the same race as me and surprisingly more youthful.
In the middle of the elections I became engaged and through my studies she has been patient with me and I realized I’ve spent too much time with the effort and I must spend time with my greatest teammate at least until the summer, you see to put the cherry on top of this I’ve been selected in a raffle to go to solidarity house, the unified workers guilds resort and teaching headquarters, The bane of my counter culture groups ire.
I’m not sure how to feel about this place. In fact in all of my time researching and getting to know workers I found out quick what to and what not to say, at least too soon without support and I do admit I’ve punched too high with my first addresses to the complex of workers uncovering information that should have been long buried. I’m not sure if I even should have said what I’ve said to be honest but no time to think about that, I’ve been invited into their prestigious Hall this coming summer.
My family is shocked at how my life is progressing as if I’m in places i shouldn’t have been so soon, truthfully they are right to wonder, the reason why my life have been progressing this way, is because be beneath it all I’m following the rules of my astrology chart and numerology energy.
I know it sounds like bullshit but honestly after I learned my astrology signs, life path number and lost my mind*(Leo sun, sagittarius moon, Scorpio rising, my life path 1 and *I spent and entire year losing my mind and gained a new one with an understanding and conclusion that if we are made be god and what he created is good then at all cores of humans are good, then it’s my mission to help people remember and reconnect with that good by helping people lose their current mind)
Honestly I’m coming to a cross roads. I’m sorta shocked too, I’ve imagined being in a position to change the world and now invited into its halls not to mention a glimpse of there struggles maintaining workers rights. I know I can make a change and seeing that the guild already have the strength why not become the change from the inside. And in my current Astro chart i knew I was lined up to go an a trip and expand my learning experience so ending up in this position I know it’s made for me. I haven’t told my team yet because I know how they feel about the place but I see how I can change the world with the established power that’s facing a strike and unfair attacks from the company over heads.
I’m starting my second season in a position where I have to make my next move regardless of feelings now this is the part the gods ask for something more from me.
writeblr 75 hard challenge
Hi! I’m Ruchi, an aspiring SFF (with a side of romance) author with a severe case of “writes 8k words in one day and then disappears into the fog for a week.”
I’m usually a pretty productive writer, and I’m super proud of how much I’ve improved at the craft over the past year. A lot of sweat and blood and studying went into that.
BUT.
My writing process is complete chaos.
I’ll spend one day drafting nonstop, then the next four days I’ll work on random fanfic or start outlining an entirely new WIP.
So I’m productive, but not focused. I think the next things I need to learn as a writer are consistency, structure, and finishing things on purpose instead of accidentally.
and that’s why I’m making this post.
A lot of people probably remember the whole “75 hard” challenge trend from youtube. If you aren’t familiar, the gist of it is that people take on a set of daily challenges (usually fitness/self-development related) and publicly post their progress. Some people take it a step further and reset the 75 day counter back to one if they miss a day.
I’m stealing the concept and making it writer-flavored (definitely not the first person to do that, either).
So: I’m doing a writeblr 75 hard challenge and posting my progress here as accountability, and you’re all welcome to join in if you want with the tag #writeblr75hard.
I’ve come up with a set of rules for myself, and you’re free to follow them if you like. But life (and its demands) are different for everyone, so please be kind to yourself and come up with realistic goals that you know will work for you. The goal here is consistent growth, not making yourself overwhelmed and burning out.
RULES:
🐸 draft 1k-1.5k new words every day (I’ll give myself some leeway here, the key is consistency)
🐸 edit my WIP novel/study craft for 1 hour every day (this involves ACTIVE engagement, which will likely include editing)
🐸 read for 30 minutes every day
🐸 no gaming/youtube binges/scrolling before writing
🐸 post progress to tumblr daily
🐸 stick to one main project but allow myself to work on side projects IF I complete my main goal for the day.
I choose to not restart the counter if I miss a day, but I will restart the counter if I miss 3 consecutive days in a row. My main goal with this challenge is to finish editing my current novel that I intend to publish this summer, and finish drafting my fantasy novel WIP.
If I’m gonna do this as a solo thing, I hope posting my progress will keep me consistent and stop me from wandering off on fifteen different sidequests halfway through drafting.
But if anyone else wants to join in, I’d genuinely love to support each other and cheer people on. Either way I’ll be posting with the tag #writeblr75hard
