I think this was genuinely one of the most insane Doctor who scenes like. Ever.
Ten was expecting something evil to be his demise. He was expecting to go down as a hero, and he almost did when he saved earth from the time lords. But the signaling of his upcoming death wasn’t alien, it was human. A human who had become the closest thing to family he’d had in a long time. He didn’t die as a hero in the end, I think he died as a human.

A theme of this week's episode which I really think more people should take away is this:
You are not immune to being racist.
The signs are there. The microaggressions are abundant. And can you honestly say that you didn't notice them? Or did you notice them but make excuses, and only realise at the end what they truly were? Because that's what I did. With the exception of the 'I thought you looked the same' comment, I made excuses for EVERY SINGLE ONE unconsciously.
She immediately rejects the Doctor? Oh, that's just because he's not on her friends list. She's shocked that Ruby and the Doctor are in the same room? Oh, that's just because she never sits in the same room as anyone else (despite it LITERALLY JUST BEING SHOWN that she works in the same room as other people, this is where my brain went). Her looking forward to the Doctor being punished? Yeah well she's just a dick, right? Even when she saw them face to face at the END, and walked away from them, I didn't clock on as to why. And not once did it occur to me that Ruby, who was in exactly the same position as the Doctor, didn't get this treatment.
So yes, one of the most important takeaways from this episode is: you are not immune to being racist.
“we’re so back, doctor whos so good now.” did nobody watch 13’s era? the king flirted with ryan. there was history episodes, like actual good ones. earth had alive goo in it. there was an alien who collected teeth and stuck them in his face as a trophy. the doctor and the master were straight presenting but queer. the master did a whole dance to rasputin. there’s MI6. they meet mary shelley. the doctor just keeps finding companions. jacks there and he kisses graham. dan lewis is there and i love him. there’s one too many gravestones. the doctor and yaz have a whole episode which feels like a fanfic. i don’t like chibnalls writing of the doctors backstory but like the seasons are good. we’ve been back for a while. just say you don’t like 13 and move on.
goddd the episode's premise does such a good job of setting up potential "justifications" for lindy's micro-agressions.
she immediately blocks the doctor? well, he wasn't on her friends list, of course she would! she's shocked that the doctor is in the same room as ruby? of course she would be, everyone here communicates through the bubble, not face-to-face!
her racism ISNT subtle, the episode just guides you (ESPECIALLY if youre white) to overlook it up until the reveal at the end! it SHOULDNT be a surprise, but for some people watching, it IS, because theyve been unknowingly making excuses for her the entire time!

While the extent to which dot and bubble handled its racism themes well is something I cant comment on due to the fact my skin tone is approximately the same as a sickly raw chicken, I do think it was a ballsy ass move that I do really like to have the Episode Where We Confront The Doctor Is BlackTM be set in the future rather than the past.
