Just found all of your pregnant Robert stuff and I am OBSESSED OMG
So one of my favorite things to think about is Robert already having a kid by the time the events of the game start, like the coma and him being a dispatcher and shit. And I personally ship Flambert, so what do you think works best for this AU:
Neither Robert nor Chad remembers one another from so many years ago that resulted in the conception of their son
Only Robert remembers Chad
Only Chad remembers Robert
They both remember each other (but probably pretend they don't lmao)
Like all of those options are SO GOOD, but I'm curious as to what you think and how you think it would go? Especially with the z-team learning that Robert is a dad, like omg how do you think that whole reveal goes?
Sorry if this ask is all over the place! I have so many thoughts but my brain won't cooperate with me 😭😭😭 anyways love your blog 💙🩵
I love those ideas too . Ty for much <3
However, I have yet to see an idea where Robert lets Flambae/Chad *know* about thw baby and visit him. And I do love ideas of Mechaan visiting Flambae in prison so...
In my "Fourth Time's the Charm" au, I mentioned giving Robert a young son named Teddy, who's a big fan of Flambae (much to his poor papa's dismay). What I didn't mention, is that I had initially conceived him as a Flambert baby! >:3
Basically, Robert had a health scare in his twenties where the doctors told him it was extremely unlikely he'd ever have a child naturally. Robert is... surprised by how bummed out this makes him. Outside of his own problems, he kinda assumed he'd have kids no matter what (Mecha Man legacy be damned). To learn that he had such low chances of having a kid naturally was like a stab in the heart.
In the FTtC au; witch he saves gifts him a plant tl take care of that will "grant your greatest desire". Robert fumbles the plant care instructions cus he doesn't put much faith into magic, and gets his "firstborn" Rosie. A tiny little girl with rose plant powers.
After two or three years of hectic new parenting, Robert needed a night off. He leaves Rosie with Chase for the day, and goes on the town. Aka, goes cruising for a love & for villains to fight.
He finds both in a fiery self-destructive arsonist that fails to recognise Mecha Man's face without the mask.
Flambae aka Chad was impressed by the skills of the "normie" that put him in his place. Half-joking, he asks if he's free for a drink. Much to Chad's surprise, the man agrees.
It's a fire-whirlwind of a romance. One where both accidentally let down walls they normally put up for simple flings. Both come away satisfied, but yearning.
They probably would have called the other back if not for Flambae's arrest at the hands of Mecha Man.
Robert visits Chad in prison. The fire wielder secretly wonders how he knew he was in supers prison in the first place. Chad isn't... in a great place mentally. He's swinging between rage at his predicament, and despair that he'll forever be branded a felon in the eyes of the law and in his family.
Robert continues visiting, both as *just* Robert, and occasionally as a "merely concerned" Mecha Man. Even if Chad starts out extremely defensive about seeing either of them.
One day, Robert slightly slides a roll of photographs beneath the meeting room's separation screen.
Its a sonogram.
Chad, near speechless: "This...?" Robert: "I was told it was a million-in-one chance. Looks like we defied expectations." Chad: (*shocked silent*) Robert, thinking the worst: "Hey. I get if you don't want to be involved. I just want you to know about him." Chad: "Him?" Robert, small laugh: "Yeah, the gender got spoiled for me when he decided to flash the ultrasound tech. It's in there." Chad: (*looks down a photo or two, starts laughing*) Chad: "He has pride in himself... any powers that can be detected?" Robert: "No, nothing significant. I get really warm, but apparently that's normal." Chad: (*goes quiet again, staring at the photos and back at Robert*) Chad: "What's the plan?" Robert, confidently: "I'm keeping him. I want him more than anything. And my daughter deserves to be a big sister." Chad: "Oh yeah, you have your Rosie." Robert: "You don't have to do anything. You don't have to... drop everything to be his dad or anything. I just..." (*gets emotional*) "I just wanted you to know..." (*gets up to leave*) Chad, calls after him: "HEY! Get back here! You don't get to make that decision for me!" Robert, genuinely surprised: "Huh?" Chad: "This is my fucking kid too, Bob-Bo!. And I'm going to be in his life, even if it kills me. His sister's life too. I don't care you fucked someone before me." Robert, heavy with emotion: "So, what are you saying?" Chad, carefully: "I'm saying... I want this too, ok? I'm willing to... not be such a bitch if it gets me out of here early, and seeing you." Robert, smiling, nearly crying: "This... I didn't plan for this..." Chad, proud smile: "Get used to it! As you said, we defy expectations!" Chad: (*melts a hole in the separator so him and Robert can share a kiss, much to the panic of the guards*)
Flambae is still in prison for some time. The only time he's released for a daytrip is to visit Robert and his newborn son in hospital.
Robert chooses the name Teddy (short for Theodore), on account of the baby being velcro'ed to him almost 24/7 like a teddy bear. Little man has the most unimpressed expression either have seen a baby make. Chad adores him already.
Robert continues visiting Chad in prison - the ex-villain gaining enough "good behaviour" points to level up to in-person meetings with his family without a separator between them. Teddy clearly has Chad as his favourite parent - Chad is very smug. The fire wielder doesn't lie about stepping up for Robert's daughter too. Little Rosie is prickly in both form and personality (it's the rose thorns), and Chad's confidence bounces off of it expertly. He picks up her up without complaint, he's stronger than some prickling pain.
There's also conjugal visits, but Robert leaves the kids at home with Chase on those days. ;)
At some point, Robert acquires a baby girl that looks an awful lot like him named Abigail. Chad doesn't question it. (The power-copying baby girl was actually the result of a science experiment gone rogue, but thats Mecha Man business.)
One day, Chad hits Robert with some big news; he's being paroled.
Chad: "Some new scheme with the Dispatch Network. Rebranding low-risk villains into heroes or civie help. I'll be monitored like shit, but I'll be on the outside again." Robert, knowingly: "Any idea who put your name forward?" Chad, trying to hide his frustration: "I have no idea." Robert, sly smirk: "Was it Mecha Man?" Chad: "I refuse to answer." Robert: "Well that confirms it."
It's around the time of Chad's parole that Shroud escapes prison.
Robert's heart is torn in two different directions; his duty to his kids and lover, or his duty to his father's legacy and revenge.
He still goes to the Steel Mill that night. And Mecha Man's destruction still lights up the sky over Los Angeles.
From his sister's home, taking care of the kids, Chad watches the news footage with a strange dread building in his stomach.
Then he gets a call from Chase.
Chase: "Get your ass to the hospital. Robert's hurt."
His blood runs cold.
Chad wouldn't call himself a detective by any means. But he's starting to piece together the links between his azizam and his greatest enemy. And he isn't sure how to feel about it.
He still visits Robert in the hospital. He feels that he at least owes Mecha Man for the years of visiting him in jail. And he owes the father of his child the decency of well wishes.
Chad and Robert end up on a bit of a break. Robert catches on from context clues that Chad knows something about his secret identity, and he understands why he needs time to process it. Even if it hurts emotionally to not see him for some time.
Flambae and Mecha Man still collide after the press conference. Just not in an entirely violent manner.
It starts with a private brawl. Then it turns into emotional half-hearted kicks and punches. Then it turns into a passionate tumble into Chad's bed, all clothing that defines their secret identities tossed aside for the night.
Blonde Blazer has to call Robert's phone to invite him personally to SDN for a more formal interview.
Robert wants to at least have the money to treat the kids and fix the suit. Will he ever wear it again? He doesn't know. But the kids able to talk are protesting that they want to take up the mantle someday. Robert vetoes that idea until either of them are clear-thinking adults.
The day Robert starts his first shift as dispatcher, Flambae is uncharacteristically quiet.
The two lovers quietly walk into each other's arms once the shift ends. Super-identity problems or not, they missed each other. And Flambae wants to brag and show off his little family to the rest of the Z Team.
The Z Team are understandably both shocked, curious, and a little envious.
Sonar, dismayed: "Why is dilf twink taken?" Prism, appraisingly: "So this is the Roberto Robertoson you've told me about!" Chad, proud grin: "Yep!" Robert, fond sigh: "And you must be Alice. Chad told me you have a very distinct style." Prism: "Damn straight!" (*sees the baby in Robert's arms*) "Shit! Sorry." Robert: "Don't worry about swearing around the kids. Chase is their uncle. They've heard it all before." Chad, still overwhelmingly proud: "Teddy's first words were Fuck You." Robert, clarifying: "Chase switched the channel to sports when Teddy was watching his cartoons." Malevola: "Oh, that's definitely Flambae's kid." Z Team: (*all nod in agreement*)
Jokes are tossed around the Phoenixes about Flambae's feral-looking twunk boyfriend, but they turn more lighthearted whenever there's little ears in the office. They all agree there's no mistaking the four-going-on-five year-old boy as being anyone's child other than Flambae's. The small boy raises fiery havoc wherever he goes.
So life is going smoothly for the Flambert pair. Family members reunited and contacted, wounds healing, and careers blooming.
What could possibly throw a curveball in these plans? >:3
The pregnancy test buried in Robert's waste bin is positive.
Shroud is still on the move...
