okay this is going to be SO long. it’s probably going to be a few ppl over and over, depending on how i feel about them, but we’ll see how it goes!
ideal characterizations for the Flashfam and adjacent characters
the flashfam as a whole: i love when they’re messy but like. they should be ready to support each other always full stop. LOVE and COSMIC POWER and ENJOYING HANGING OUT !!!! there’s of course some tension in various smaller relationships (thinking about like,,, bart&wally especially early on, wally&jesse, bart&barry, etc) but genuinely they all do love each other so so much even though they suck at showing it sometimes. this answer is so so vague i kind of hate it sorry asdguk BUT YOU KNOW!! YOU GET THE POINT!! tangentially i do think (**most but definitely not all) superhero groups & families in dc should be formed on the basis of respect at the least, and friendship and love and care on top of that. this is so cheesy but i truly do think it !!!
linda should be a little more of a jerk :((( (and so should wally of course but i’m more forgiving of his characterization) like i understand that she’s mellowed a little since she was uhh mid 20s maybe?? yk around the first waid run/the messner-loebs run in the flash (1987) but like !! where are her flawsss ough 😔😔 idk if im phrasing this right but i wish she’d be allowed to be wrong sometimes? like in the flash (2016) & occasionally but imo less in the flash (2023) she feels like,,,,girlbossified yk. and it sucks !!!
AND HER DRIVE HER PASSION IDC AT ALL. i mean they’re there!! but also AMPLIFY THEM BY 50000% PLEASE!! also make her a more distant somewhat more awkward mother >:3 linda park perfectmotherification i hate you i hate you i hate youuu
also going to someone else i feel like max should be long-suffering and exhausted and bad at articulating his care for others & feelings about their actions and someone who learns & grows even if it takes a while & is also kind of a jerk (in a different way) even when he’s mostly well-meaning. and bring back helen pleasee not just for their complicated relationship with each other but also just HELEN. and also make him be outwardly mysterious and in control and privately like the opposite. i really want to reread impulse (1995) but im suuure it’s hard to tell (/j)

OBLIGATORY LINDA PARK CHANNEL 4 TV NEWS REPORTER MENTION. I MISS IT SO MUCH I’M SO SERIOUSS
the civilian aspects!! the flashfam is so connected to civilians in general through their identities & cool supporting casts & interactions w the general public and i loveee when that’s focused on!! in north’s current run for example the social media challenge bits were really cute
honestly wally’s identity being public was so GOOD. GAH. and im sure it’s not actually going to happen again at least not anytime soon bc the twins (&wade) aren’t adults & wally’s too connected to the flashfam (not ina negative way just like!! when his identity was public at the start of the flash ‘87 the wider flashfam as it exists now did not back then; i think he was close w the titans but their identities weren’t threatened by wally revealing his & iirc jay’s was (?) also public maybe?) but anyway the consequences of wally going public again willingly or otherwise would be so many and messy…..okay i would be SO willing to see that tbh but i don’t think it’s happening 😔
also. bring back jesse’s public identity tbh. have them clash about it mayhaps (in an argument way not a cosmic speedster way). also does quickstart still exist?? i really loved her running quickstart
bart’s picture thoughts I LOVED YOU. THIS IS SMTH DC COULD FR BRING BACK WITH SUCH LITTLE EFFORT BECAUSE IT DOESN’T IMPACT THE ACTUAL PLOT IT’S A COOL CHARACTER DETAIL !!!!!! LIKE THE HUMOR OF IT THE CALLBACK TO IMPULSE ‘95 IF ANYONE’S OUT THERE….this really doesn’t matter as much as the other things ^^ but i did like the picture thoughts impulse ‘95 utilized them so well!! they showed bart’s personality amazingly!! he was routinely thinking about enacting violence against people he was annoyed with and it was awesomee

(not civilian but white lightning & her mom also they were fascinating ambiguous and sympathetic villains) (morlo was cool also & i wouldn’t mind in-character as of impulse thad) -

i’d so love to see linda digging into a dangerous story of her own volition & unconnected to wally’s exploits. like maybe they end up in a situation together somehow (or linda & hartley i love their friendship) but it should start w her picking it up bc it’s a News Story!!
