Hello, my name is Pastel! Welcome to my little corner of the internet.
I do lots of writing so please do drop a request if there's anything you'd like
me to write <3
Hello, welcome to my little corner of the internet!
My name is Pastel and I am a writer who has fallen completely for the cookie run fandom. The hyperfixation is real with this one I fear. So I am handling this new interest the only way I know how: writing fanfiction. If you have any requests, please send them my way and I'll do my best to make them happen!
My only real rules apart from obvious stuff like not writing adult x minor are that I'm only doing Cookie Run: Kingdom characters for now since I have neither the time nor the money for more than one cookie based gambling addiction. That and I'll only be doing X reader stuff for now because I've seen ship wars in this fandom and I don't want to get anywhere near that. Also no smut, I just don't like writing it and also I'm horrible at it.
There are some more things to note about sending requests but I don't want to clutter up your dashboard too much so I'll put the rest of it under the cut.
. I can write romantic, platonic and anything in between.
. Adult x minor is allowed as long as it it strictly platonic.
. I can do plot based writing or I can do headcanons which I haven't done much but would love to experiment more with.
. I'll write just about anything, just no extreme gore or smut.
. Again, X reader only for now.
. Please be specific with your requests! As much as I appreciate every request it can be tricky to come up with a unique scenario for the hundredth time without help. I very much appreciate specific requests since they make my job a lot easier a writer and will make your idea much more likely to be chosen. Even just giving me a rough idea helps a lot!
. I am still slightly new to this fandom as of writing this so I might make some mistakes in my writing. If I do please politely correct me so I can change it!
That's all for now! If you have any requests please do send them my way and I'll do my best to do them justice. Thank you for reading!
Also I hope to put a masterlist of all my works here someday.
Hi hi! Since he’s your number one, mind if I request some best friend headcanon for Espresso cookie please? :>
Ahhh this is such a fun idea, thank you! I love Espresso so much and will always take any chance to write about him.
Warnings: No warnings, only fluff.
Author note: I wrote this while very tired right before bed so it's not that long but hopefully you still enjoy! Wordcount 376
Best Friends: Espresso X Reader
Befriending Espresso is certainly no easy task since he tends to put work over his social life, but one way or another you managed it. He definitely doesn’t have many friends, or perhaps even none other than you, but that makes him treasure your friendship all the more.
You don’t get to see him much because of his busy schedule, maybe once or twice a month, but on the days where you do have meetups planned he makes sure that they happen, cancelling all of his plans for the day if needed.
Espresso loves to explain all of his recent experiments to you over lunch, going into all the details for hours at a time. Some might find it annoying and repetitive, but you certainly don’t. You find his passion for his work endearing and happily nod along as he talks whether or not you fully understand what he’s saying.
Since he’s a professor, Espresso has lots of stories from the classes that he teaches about his students doing funny or dumb things. Sharing those stories is one of your favourite pastimes together, him sharing the juiciest tales from the academy and you bringing your own gossip to share as well.
Due to having mastered coffee magic and knowing all the ins and outs of making a perfect brew, Espresso has become quite picky about the coffee shops you go to together. This makes organizing cafe meetups a nightmare. However, he’ll often invite you over to try out his latest invention and that’s far better than any coffee shop.
Takes gift giving extremely seriously. If it’s your birthday he’ll spend days trying to find the perfect gift. He also seems to remember everything you mention wanting. Should you passively mention needing a replacement of something that broke, it’s pretty much guaranteed that he’ll be giving you one soon.
Despite being an expert at giving gifts, Espresso always becomes a flustered mess whenever you give him anything. He’s never had a friend who just gives random gifts before and has no idea how to react. And although he’ll never admit it, he greatly treasures all the gifts you give him no matter how small.

Hello 🐦⬛ anon! Thank you for the ask and yes I would be very happy to write that for you. Enjoy!

Author note: Combined with wanting a Shadow Milk x Reader and using 🐦⬛ as their sign off I'm like 90% sure I know who this is lol, no worries though, I won't expose you. 1.1k wordcount.
Talk About It After: Shadow Milk x Reader
You let out a long, tired sigh as you looked at the massive pile of papers that Candy Apple had just dropped onto your desk, turning to your shorter colleague with a look of pure misery. She simply shrugged in response, though she did look somewhat sympathetic, which was rare for her. “Hey, don’t look at me like that! I know it’s a lot but it’s not my fault. Besides, Master Shadow Milk will be mad at all of us if these don’t get sorted so can’t you just do it so we don’t get in trouble?” However, before you could retort, Candy Apple was already walking out the door of your room. “Easy for you to say, you never end up doing any of the paperwork…” you muttered to yourself, already looking over the first paper in the stack.
There were at least five hundred pages in the pile, a collection of all the rumours that had been spread in the past month. It contained information such as time it started, who it was about, how quickly it caught on, and, of course, what the rumour itself was. You had never understood why these things needed to be documented. After all, once a rumour had spread, why did the details matter anyways? It would soon get twisted into something completely different solely by word of mouth. You did however know that it needed to be done or else you, Candy Apple and Black Sapphire would all face the wrath of your master.
As you sorted through the papers in a sort of sleep deprived trance, the door to your room suddenly flew open and in walked the master of the spire himself. Without so much as looking at you, he made his way straight over to your bed where he proceeded to fall forwards and faceplant onto the blankets.
You blinked several times, shaking your head slightly as if this were simply a hallucination that you were trying to shake off. After a few seconds, you opened your mouth to speak, unsure if he even knew you were there. “...Master Shadow Milk? Are you alright…?” Your question received only a soft groan in response.
Still sitting in your desk chair, you looked around the room as if it might somehow offer an answer to what was going on. Your eyes landed on Black Sapphire who was standing in the doorway, looking both amused and concerned simultaneously. “Sorry, I tried to handle the situation but he was asking for you. Good luck!” he whispered to you, holding his hand up to direct the words towards you. Black Sapphire had warned you of this when you first arrived at the spire seeing as he had been working for Shadow Milk long before you had arrived, but in the years that you had spent here you had never been the unfortunate soul to have to look after the spire’s master while he was drunk.
Before you could ask Black Sapphire how in the world one was meant to handle a drunk person who was essentially a god, he was gone, having disappeared as suddenly as he had appeared.
Cautiously you stood up and walked over to your bed where Shadow Milk still lay face first, sitting down at the very edge about as far away from him as possible. Before you could think of anything to say, he quickly got up when he felt the slight shift of the covers that happened when you sat down. Without missing a beat, the master of deceit dramatically threw himself onto your lap, hand to his forehead as if he were about to faint.
“Y/N, I’m dizzy…! Woah, am I falling?! …Wait, no. Just dizzy.” Shadow Milk continued his nonsensical ramblings, head still in your lap. You looked down at him with a mix of shock and horror, entirely unsure what to make of the situation. “Master Shadow Milk? How much have you had to drink…?” That was the only thing you could think to ask at that moment. He remained silent for a long moment, seeming to actually make proper eye contact for the first time tonight. Then, in a dead serious voice, he proceeded to ask “...How’d you know I’m drunk?” The sheer ridiculousness of the question nearly caused you to laugh aloud and you nearly choked repressing your laughter.
“Ah, no reason, just a guess… But really, how much did you have to drink?” He sat up slightly and shrugged before reaching up to playfully poke your nose with one finger. “No idea! Lost track a while ago!” Oh, great. Absolutely delightful.
As you processed this, the jester managed to fully sit up, though he was mostly just leaning against you. One of his arms was wrapped around your shoulder and you could smell a strong scent of alcohol in his breath as he continued to ramble about meaningless topics.
As you nodded along with Shadow Milk’s rambling while pretending to have any idea what he was talking about, he gradually became more and more clingy. What had started with him laying dramatically on your lap had since turned into him wrapping his arms around your neck and pressing his body against your chest like some kind of parasite. You still sat at the edge of your bed, remaining as still as possible apart from occasionally patting Shadow Milk on the back since you truly had no idea what else to do.
“Ohhh, Y/N! You’ve always been my favourite, y’know that?” He spoke in an almost singsong tone, looking up at you with that trademark smile, just slightly lopsided due to his current state. You tensed up when he said this, heart nearly skipping a beat. The master of deceit laughed to himself at your reaction. “What, it’s true! You know I wouldn’t lie to you! No, that couldn’t possibly be me. Really though, how can you not be my favourite? This whole place would fall apart without ya, dear. Sure, you might not have been here the longest but that doesn’t change anything! That and you’re lots of fun. Who else here can keep up with me as well as you?”
Shadow Milk’s words of praise shocked you, essentially short circuiting your brain. He was never this open with anyone. The entire time you’d been at the spire, he’d hardly shown any kind of affection towards, well, anyone. Of course there was the usual teasing and games, but nothing like this. Despite your shock however, you couldn’t help but smile. To receive actual genuine words from the master of deceit was not something you could have ever anticipated, and yet you couldn’t say you minded it.
With a smile on your face, you looked down at the jester clinging to you and tucked a loose strand of hair behind his ear so that you could see both his eyes. “Ha, you really think so? Well, I’m glad you think so highly of me. And I’ve gotta say you’re pretty great as well.”
This was certainly going to be awkward tomorrow, but none of that mattered right now.
Post canon Silksong fix it fic anyone? I know I’m currently writing only Crk content and still do have something in the works right now for it. But what if bugs that have seen the horrors being happy.
Thank you, ☆anon! It is my OC, yes! Her name is Pastel, she's my sona. Also I'll be honest I've been meaning to do some proper art of her for a while because right now my pfp is just part of her reference sheet.
welcom here friend !! As my mission is to support newh writers, I ask for a Ancients Cookies x child reader that was the six holder of the soul jam of Innocent, basically, as we got away from the tree, 'cause the witches purified us, we wonder around the Earthbread for a long time and every monsters and enemy are protective of us and doesn't attack us in any way !! It was the Ancients that found us in the Vanilla kingdom for a meeting, they decided to protect us too and take care of us, as we are immortal and can't really grow up. Thanks if you can do it !!
Ooh, I love that idea, lots of interesting stuff that could happen with that! And thank you for the welcome and the ask! I may have gone a bit overboard with this one but hopefully you like it.
Warnings: None really, reader was an orphan but not really in a traumatic way.
Author note: Sorry this took so long, I have come down with a very serious condition called "playing silksong obsessively" so I haven't had much time to write. 2.2k wordcount.
Light if Innocence: Parental Figure Ancients + Child Reader
The five ancients sat around a grand meeting table, none of them wanting to make the first move. This was supposed to be impossible. There were five soul jams wielded by the five ancients. That’s how it always was. And yet, sitting in the corner of the meeting hall and happily laughing as they played with a cake hound, was a child who had a sixth souljam clutched in their tiny hands.
After several minutes of silence as the five of them processed what was going on, Hollyberry was the one to break the heavy silence upon the room. “...They’re just a child… How is this possible? Pure Vanilla, you said that you found them living in the ruins of one of the old houses, correct?” Pure Vanilla nodded, shaking slightly as he began to speak. “...Correct. I heard a child’s laughter from the ruins so I went in to investigate only to find, well… this. They were sitting on the ground, surrounded by cake hounds, but they weren’t being attacked. The cake hounds were happily playing with them and even growled and got protective when I tried to approach.”
Dark Cacao was the next to chime in, shaking his head in disbelief. “Impossible. Never before have I seen someone so easily tame monsters, let alone someone so young.” The proof was right in front of them, however. There you were, oblivious to the discussion currently taking place, happily petting a cake hound that was fully allowing it.
“It must be due to the power of their soul jam. They grant some unusual powers and I suppose that is simply what this little one’s does.” Golden Cheese said, though she was also looking at you as if she didn’t entirely believe what she was seeing. “I do wonder if that’s the full extent of the soul jam’s ability, however. It took some time for ours to show their full potential.” White Lily shuddered slightly at those words, looking nervous. “It is unlikely that this is the full extent of the soul jam’s power. While it doesn’t seem dangerous right now, I worry that it might become more destructive as they grow older since it took time for the more intense powers to begin appearing for us.”
The other three nodded in agreement apart from Pure Vanilla who shook his head slightly at White Lily’s words, looking tired. “About that… I managed to get them to speak to me a little and when I asked how old they were they seemed to have no concept of age. All they know about how old they are is that they remember the dark flour war. This means that the child most likely doesn’t age. I don’t know if this means that their soul jam simply won’t reach full power or all of that power will be controlled by an infant, but it could be very bad either way.”
There was a long moment of silence after this as the five ancients considered what this might mean. They all knew that if you were to become as powerful as them but never age a day it would be a disaster.
White Lily was the one to break the silence, looking down at her hands on her lap as she spoke, her voice ever so slightly shaky. “...If… If there are six soul jams… that means that there is most likely a sixth beast.” Hollyberry let out a gasp at those words, obviously horrified at the idea. “What? No! They are a child, they can’t fight a beast cookie, even if that beast is stuck as a child similar to them! We’re all adults and hardly managed to win the fights against our own soul jam’s previous bearers.”
Dark Cacao was also horrified by the idea of there being a sixth beast but managed to keep his tone calm despite the situation. “Hollyberry is right, we can’t let the child fight. They need to be protected, as all children do.” Golden Cheese nodded in agreement, her golden wings flicking behind her for a brief moment. “Correct, we cannot allow any farm to befall this little one. If it comes down to it, we will fight the sixth beast to protect them.”
Reassured by the fact that everyone was in agreement, Pure Vanilla’s expression softened and a slight smile crept onto his face for the first time since the initial discovery of the sixth soul jam. “Good, it brings me comfort to know we are all willing to do whatever is needed in order to keep them safe. Whatever challenges this may bring, we shall face them as a team.”
And now that the introduction is over, how about some headcanons on what all of them are like as caretakers!
Pure Vanilla
He is extremely patient with you, never getting mad if you or one of the monsters that follow you around break something and instead reassuring you that everyone makes mistakes and you don’t need to be sorry.
He is great at comforting you when you cry, always being quick to wrap you up in a warm hug and hum gentle tunes to you until you calm down.
He introduces you to Strawberry Crepe fairly quickly after first finding you, knowing that children need friends to socialize with, even if Strawberry Crepe is older than you. They didn’t know what to think of you at first but are now okay with you spending time in their workshop and playing with the wafflebots as long as Pure Vanilla doesn’t let you stay too long.
Pure Vanilla frequently goes for walks around the Vanilla Kingdom, that’s when he first found you after all. He often encourages you to join him on these walks and loves to tell you about all the places you two pass by as you listen eagerly.
Despite being extremely soft with how he cares for you, he does try to gently explain the situation of being a bearer of great power to you so that you can understand any unexpected things that may happen around you. His attempts so far have been fruitless however, all of his words holding no meaning to you as you are far more interested in playing with your monster friends.
You probably stay with Pure Vanilla the most out of all the ancients with him being your main caretaker out of them.
Dark Cacao
The way Dark Cacao treats you is practically the opposite of Pure Vanilla, being much more direct with you about your situation. He takes any chance he can get to try and explain your powers to you, though it never really works.
Cannot comfort you even if his life depended on it. If you start crying he’ll awkwardly pick you up in his arms, most likely holding you wrong, and try to reason with you as if you were an adult. He quickly learned that this would not work and instead has those who know how to handle children do that part.
Even though the goal is for you to never see a day of combat in your entire immortal existence, Dark Cacao insists on teaching you basic self defence just in case. Of course it has not turned you into some kind of champion, but you at least know how to direct your usual tantrum kicks and punches into semi-effective attacks.
He still feels horrible about failing to raise Dark Choco with enough love so he really does his best to be as affectionate towards you as possible, even if it doesn’t come naturally to him. He already put his son down a horrible path by how he raised him and is determined to not let the same happen to you.
He is definitely wary of the various monsters that follow you around and doesn’t let you spend time with any more dangerous ones unsupervised. He knows deep down that they won’t attack you or anyone else as long as you’re around, and yet he still can’t shake that protective feeling.
Hollyberry
Hollyberry is a mother who has raised a child before so she knows just what to do when she takes care of you. Hungry? No problem, she knows what food kids usually like. Tired? Don’t worry about it, she’s done enough bedtimes to know just how to handle that. Bored? She’s had plenty of years to learn what games children find fun and entertaining.
Definitely the most balanced caretaker. She’s fun and outgoing but won’t hesitate to send you off for a nap if you misbehave too much. After all, she’s parented not only her own son but also her grandchildren so she’s had plenty of time to learn what works best.
When Hollyberry introduced you to Princess Cookie, she was absolutely ecstatic. It’s just like having a little sibling to her! Since she still has all of her old toys, she passed them down to you. She especially loves playing dolls with you as the two of you pretend that the small figurines are going on wild adventures. Hollyberry does sometimes have to remind Princess Cookie not to let the imaginary adventures get too intense though since she doesn’t want you having nightmares.
Anytime Hollyberry goes to the kingdom’s market, she always insists that you come with her to get some fresh air. Every week you go with her happily since she always buys you a tasty treat from one of the vendors, though you always end up getting more than one treat since the vendors absolutely adore you and always sneak you extra. Hollyberry pretends not to notice but finds it adorable how much everyone loves you and just wants to spoil you.
Golden Cheese
You don’t get to see her much, but when you do it’s practically any child’s dream. She’s less like a parent than the others and more like that one fun aunt who you only get to see at family gatherings but is so awesome that it more than makes up for it.
You aren’t able to stay with Golden Cheese very often and never for more than a few days since she’s so busy trying to rebuild her kingdom and find another way to revive her subjects, but she still manages to always make some time for you.
She doesn’t know how to say no to you. If you want something when you’re staying with her, consider it yours. With her ability to form items out of sand, anything and everything you could possibly want is easy for her to conjure up for you.
Golden Cheese loves to tell you stories about her kingdom but especially about her subjects. The way she speaks of them in such detail makes you almost feel like you knew them too. She hopes that someday soon her research will come to an end and she’ll finally be able to revive them all and looks forward to you getting to meet all of them for real instead of just through stories.
Loves to let you wear fancy outfits. Normally you wear simple clothes you’d usually see on a child but whenever you stay with Golden Cheese she lets you raid her personal wardrobe of clothes and jewellery to play dress up. Watching you walk around acting all high and mighty wearing clothes far too large for you and so much jewellery that it’s a wonder it’s not just weighing you down has got to be the most adorable thing in the world to her.
White Lily
She is another one that definitely doesn’t know how to care for children, but she’s trying her best. She’s okay at taking care of you by keeping you fed and getting you to bed on time, but if you start crying she’ll probably just join you.
Since White Lily is currently living in the Faerie Kingdom, that's where you live too whenever you stay with her. The faerie cookies were wary of you at first since you were an outsider but quickly accepted you as long as you don’t bring any of your monster friends within their walls.
She tries to keep you away from what remains of the silver tree when she can for fear that being so close to where the previous bearer of your soul jam was sealed for so long might break the delicate balance that they had been maintaining.
Despite not being very good at playing games with you, one thing she can do is read you stories. She set up a small bookshelf of picture books in her home filled with all of your favourite stories that she reads to you every day. You especially like it when she does funny voices for the characters.
Since she does a lot of her own work and can’t always watch over you, she often lets you go outside to play with the other faerie children. Now that the beasts are out of the tree and nowhere nearby, there are no dangers within the kingdom’s walls so it’s more than safe to allow you to go play with the other resident’s children. She just makes you promise to return before dark or else she gets worried that you might have wandered off and gotten lost and will go out to find you, picking you up in a tight hug when she finally finds you to bring you home.
Hello! Since you gotten into crk, do you have any cookies that you taken a liking too like favorites?
Ooh, It's hard to choose since there are very few characters in this game that I don't love but these guys have to be my favourites in no particular order.
Espresso, Snapdragon, Strawberry Crepe, Stormbringer, any of the golden city characters, Shadow Milk, Doughael and Silent Salt have to be my favourites (I know Silent Salt isn't out yet, I just think he's neat)
But my number one is Espresso. Love that guy so much.
I would absolutely love to get writing requests about any of these characters, they're all just so awesome.
This was requested by no one but I had it sitting around in my google docs. It was originally written for my friend who absolutely loves Eternal Sugar but I thought perhaps the crk x reader community might also enjoy it.
Warnings: fluff so sweet it will give you cavities just by reading it
Eternal Sugar x Reader Headcanons
- Eternal Sugar loves to braid your hair if it's long enough. If not, she instead just brushes it. She hums soft melodies to you as she does so, the relaxation often ending in you falling asleep on her lap.
- On the topic of hair, she also loves putting flowers in your hair and making matching flower crowns for the two of you. If you have favourite flowers, she makes sure that plenty of them are always growing in the garden for you.
- Calls you classic pet names such as 'angel', 'darling', 'my dearest' and 'sweetheart', though she finds it cute when you come up with creative names for her.
- Despite the forests surrounding her garden being infested with monsters, Eternal Sugar makes no attempt to teach you self defence. After all, what use would it be if you never have need to leave her paradise?
- Eternal Sugar enjoys tea parties, whether it be with a larger group filled with chatter and laughter or just the two of you with nothing to distract you from each other. She definitely has your preferences for how you like your tea made completely memorized for these moments.
- She has no plan for what she would do if you were ever to attempt to escape her garden because she trusts you fully to never try to leave. And she's right. You care deeply for one another and cannot imagine life apart.
- Eternal Sugar is a very good singer, having the most sweet and heavenly voice imaginable. She frequently sings songs for you, specifically ones that remind her of you. She also absolutely adores it when you sing, no matter how horrible you sound.
- She loves taking long, lazy naps with you on top of clouds as you drift above the garden. During these cuddles, she wraps her wings around you like a soft, feathery blanket of comfort.
- She is extremely protective of you, worrying that you may get hurt doing even basic tasks such as climbing a tree to get a better view of the gardens. You constantly reassure her that you're perfectly fine but that won't stop her from fretting over you constantly. Not that you mind, of course.
- Pavlova definitely ships you two, constantly setting you up for surprise dates together, once even leading you to a field with a picnic already set up and then leaving before you can say anything.
- She loves to listen to you talk about your day more than anything else in the entire world. If she's ever having a hard time falling asleep, she asks you to tell her about what you did that day. The sound of your voice always lulls her to sleep in no time.
- Eternal Sugar would grant you a pair of wings the moment you stepped into her garden, and if you accepted the offer the two of you would often go for long, lazy flights among the clouds as one of your main passtimes. If you do not want to have wings but still want to enjoy these flights together, she is more than happy to carry you in her arms as she flies.
Hm, can I request a Dark Cacao Cookie x Bird reader! Where reader is shape shifting bird cookie.
Please take your time on this, and have a good day/night :D
Aww, thank you for the warm welcome, it means a lot to me! And also thank you for being the first to leave a request, and such a fun idea too! I had lots of fun writing this, hope you enjoy <3
Warnings: No real warnings for this one, mainly just fluff. The reader does almost die of cold at one point though and does break their wing, but it is not graphic at all.
Author note: my entire town lost power while planning this one out and I had to take notes on paper like some kind of pre-technology caveman. 1.1K wordcount
Little Bird: Dark Cacao x Bird Reader
The freezing lands of the Dark Cacao Kingdom were no place for a bird, let alone one with a broken wing. Much of the year felt like winter in these lands, the cold only relenting for a few months before returning to glacial temperatures. However, these few warm months brought with them many creatures coming through the lands during migration. Among those who frequented these lands was a small group of cookies who could shapeshift into avians, arms capable of turning to wings and hands and feet into talons. They were an elusive group, only spoken of in occasional myths that no one truly believed. But they were very real. You would know this after all, being one of them.
You and your flock had come to the Dark Cacao kingdom as usual that spring, making the most of the warmth to find food and shelter. However, it did not take long for the cold to return. You had been exploring while looking for food when the first snowstorm of the season had hit, the strong winds blowing you out of the tree you had been perched in and throwing you to the ground, shattering one of your wings with a sickening crack. It hadn’t taken long for the snow to come after that. You lay on the ground beneath that tree, half buried in snow and wrapping your un-injured wing around yourself in a desperate attempt for warmth. The instant the first snow hit your flock left, no matter who was left behind. You knew this all too well.
You were alone now. Not one of them was coming to save you.
Instead, someone else found you.
As you lay face down in the snow, hardly shivering anymore since you no longer had the energy, something fluffy had begun to nudge you. Soon after came voices, talking about something you couldn’t make out in your delirious state. “...Cream wolves found…” “...No, can’t be…” “...Must bring to the king…” were all you could comprehend of what they said. You then felt the fluffy thing that had been prodding you, that you had worked out from piecing their words together was likely a cream wolf, picking you up by the scruff of your neck like a wildcat would carry its young. That was the last thing you remembered before passing out due to the cold.
You had been brought back to the Dark Cacao Kingdom by the group of cookies who had found you and the cream wolves. They had been unable to truly believe that they had found one of the bird cookies of legend and of course had to present you to their king as proof that the legend was true. During the long trudge through the snow back to the kingdom your body had begun shapeshifting back to a regular cookie in order to save what little energy it had left, leaving the group who had saved you even more confused. Despite this, they still decided to bring you to their king.
They must have looked quite silly standing before Dark Cacao’s throne, holding a very regular looking snow covered cookie with a broken arm who they swore up and down was one of the bird cookies of legend. He most certainly gave them some odd looks but quickly dismissed them, probably believing that they had lost their minds. Dark Cacao wasn’t heartless however. He had you brought to one of the palace’s rooms where you could recover from your injuries. You were clearly far too weak at the moment to be a threat and he wasn’t going to throw an injured innocent back out into the blizzard.
He wasn’t quite sure what to expect of you, but it certainly wasn’t what he found the next day. Overnight you had woken up and begun attempting to turn your bedding into a sort of makeshift nest out of pure instinct and fully transformed back into your bird form. It had been quite a shock to him when he had opened the door to your room in the morning to see if you had awoken and were ready to be questioned yet only to be met with the sight of someone who looked at least half bird ransacking the room to make a nest of pillows and blankets, feathers all over the place from attempting to fly despite your broken wing.
Dark Cacao had simply stood in the doorway for a long moment, processing what he was seeing as you stared at him with those wide eyes in both terror and fascination. It took some time but you finally agreed to talk, but you didn’t allow him anywhere near you and only spoke if allowed to perch atop a tall closet where he couldn’t reach you. You explained that you broke your wing just as the snow arrived and that your flock was likely long gone for the year by now. He listened intently, still shocked that your kind were ever real.
Over the next weeks, Dark Cacao spent much of his free time with you, asking about the places you had been or sometimes even just sitting in silence. At first he found your various birdlike quirks interesting, but it didn’t take long for him to begin to see them as endearing instead. The way you would tilt your head when confused and make slight chirping noises when you were content. He didn’t even mind that you would sing to yourself in the morning, even though the sounds drifting down the halls had woken him from sleep more than once.
As the two of you grew closer, you began following him around and observing everything he did with curiosity in your eyes. For once, the stoic king didn’t mind having someone constantly attached to him and began opening up to you slowly, telling you many of his most closely guarded secrets. You were the only one to know about the fact that he still thought frequently of his son who had left years ago and that he regretted not showing him more love when he had the chance. You never judged, never pressed for more information. Just listened.
