I often hear the argument that having major characters die is more realistic than having them always come through unscathed. Of course it is. But I personally donât want my fiction to necessarily be ârealisticâ â I want my fiction to be entertaining. For me, that means watching engaging characters I care about get into and out of dangerous predicaments, working and thinking together in order to defeat the bad guys. While some authors (and readers) like the tension of wondering who will live and who will die, I prefer the tension of seeing how the heroes are going to think or work their ways out of each difficult or impossible situation they find themselves in. If I want realism and the deaths of people I care about, I can turn on the news.

An upbeat boy who fails to sit still. Though heâs playful and friendly in nature, he can be ruthless in spiteâ operating heavily on tit-for-tat. Hedji is someone who can hold grudges easily and once youâre on his radar as a âjerkâ, itâs hard to get off. Nonetheless you have a friend for life if youâre in his good graces, which is just being nice.

Background:
Hedji comes from a mountainous village in Pyroxene, quite rural compared to Fleur City. He has a knack for learning things quickly, allowing him to easily fill any roles. He doesnât know who his biological parents are, but thatâs fine. Heâs content to make his village proud.
For a Good Samaritan whoâs often found volunteering around Fleur City, Hedji is quite the rebel at NBC. Too bad his stellar grades donât excuse his lax attitude at school.

The MET Gala is a fundraiser for The Met. Putting on the fashion exhibition is VERY costly. Has the politics, inflation, and bullshit gotten out of hand? Yeah. To give you an idea of how much this can cost, the collection I work for has 2 gowns from 1798 & 1809 currently being conserved and had mounts made for them so displaying them wouldnât cause further damage. They were already in a solid B shape and cost more than 50k to conserve so the public can view them for 5 months each. They will then be reboxed (archival tissue and box) for a minimum of 10 years before theyâre considered to be seen again. Oh, and archival material only lasts 10 years before it has to be replaced, whether or not itâs being considered for display.
Donât like the gala? Support local museums with a textile or fashion collection, they get fractions of the revenue or publicity, and still aim to achieve a solid fraction of what the MET does. More collections are deaccessioning their textiles because theyâre costly to maintain, large and need space. However, after big names artists like Van Gogh, Botticelli or da Vinci they get the most interest in from the public. The study of clothing is an opportunity to shine light on women & minority stories as well. Donât let the fact that some of the guests suck and have more money than any of them need take away the importance of museums and dress study.
