"I died, I don't have to do that anymore!"
Happy anniversary to the Scary Go Round comics, by John Allison!!!🎉
The webcomic series was first uploaded in 2002 and ran until 2009, BUT the town of Tackleford lives on with his recent works taking place in the same setting! The Tackleford Cinematic Universe, the TCU, if you will.
🐟 You can find the 6th, 7th, & 8th published collections along with many other amazing works from John over at Topa.to/johnallison! 🥳
Wacky Packages stickers - Topps (1979 reissue)
Wow, I hadn't heard of these!
"Known affectionately among collectors as Wacky Packs, the Topps stickers that parodied well-known consumer brands were a phenomenon in the 1970s―even outselling the Topps Company’s baseball cards for a while. But few know that the genius behind it all was none other than Art Spiegelman―the Pulitzer Prize–winning graphic novelist who created Maus." -this book

私たちは時として
かわいくなくて不快なものも見なくてはならない。
「よく分からないから」
「自分に関係ないから」
「なんか不快だから」
そうして何も見えなくなっていけば
そのうちかわいいモノも無くなってしまう。
Sometimes we have to see things that are not cute and are unpleasant.
If we turn a blind eye because
"I don't understand it,"
"It doesn't concern me,"
"It's somehow unpleasant,"
and become unable to see anything,
eventually even the cute things will disappear.
Happy world bicycle day to our baddies on bikes 🔥😎

A Horse power being only 735 watt is honestly so weird like that's not even enough to run a modern game on decent seatings
You wanna know what's fucked?
Your brain is a 25-watt computer.
Brain is 25% of your energy consumption, you burn about 100 watts of power (about 100 joules per second). You're a 25-watt computer.
I don't like that fact
No but for real. Your brain is one of the most advanced machines known to exist. It's a computer capable of running a sapient intelligence on - and I cannot stress this enough - 25 watts of broccoli and stew. What the fuck.
It's a cool fact it just makes me uncomfortable
so an average toaster runs at about 1200 watts, say it takes 5 min to toast bread thats 0.1Kwh. itd take 4 hours of brain power to toast it
Just connect multiple humans together matrix style
in the woods amongst my coven, 48 all in total, linking hands deep in concentration. our collective will united on our task of great importance for what feels like days but in reality scarce but a few minutes. in the centre of us lays a single slice of toast cooked to perfection

I am obsessed with this.
So because parkour is such a ridiculously male dominated sport, the "correct technique" for a lot of these movements that you're taught when you become an instructor plays to a male body's strengths: upper body strength, higher center of gravity, etc.
She demolishes this course by moving in ways that make sense for her body. She doesn't muscle her way up to her over a wall, she just throws a leg up over the wall. She doesn't use upper body strength to do the salmon ladder, she uses her hips!!! And it's fucking incredible.
So many girls and young women walk away from parkour because every movement caters to the strengths of men, because doing what makes sense for their bodies is seen as "bad technique" to be trained away.
If pre-transition me had seen this I would have cried tears of joy.
Adagio of Life and Death
"Adagio of Life and Death" (from the soundtrack of the same name by Joe Hisaishi) 240x420 pixel, 32 colors This may be quite different from the usual "pocket" style you might expect from yours truly, but it's always such a great pleasure to go with the flow of pixel art as a medium, rather than style: a bigger canvas, a wider palette - the joy of detail and the challenge of it! Very excited to finally share some pictures of my Dread Pirate Frogerts build! I've been thinking about making this outfit for my Kermit for a while now, but the proper motivation to actually get this done was hearing that Cary Elwes was announced as a guest for my local comic convention! So with any luck Dread Pirate Frogerts will be getting to meet the real Westley very soon.
A shocking amount of work went into making this little outfit... I completely underestimated the amount of time I would need to put all this together. Though a good chunk of that was me getting way too wrapped up in perfectionism... ask me how many times I re-did the smocking on the sleeves (On second thought, don't, it's embarrassing). Here I thought I had been con-crunching with Piggy last year... technically, I only just finished Kermit today, and the convention starts Thursday. Lots of internal (and external) screaming was had with this build. I did film the majority of it, with plans to turn it into a full video and reel in the future... maybe once I've had a chance to recoup from aforementioned con-crunch.
You seem to be well versed in heresies. Which one is "Jesus isn't special for agreeing to sacrifice himself for human sins, nobody else just got an offer"?
Christian theologies that deny the doctrine of the Virgin Birth and hold that Jesus was an ordinary man who was adopted as God's son during his life – often at his baptism, though some strands place the event elsewhere – are broadly grouped under the heading of "adoptionism". We'd need to get a lot more specific about the particular theological claims being made to narrow it down any more than that.
As is always the case with Christian heresies, it's tough to pin down exactly how commonly adoptionism has actually been practised, as most surviving descriptions of it come to us via its critics, and early Church authorities were notorious for making up guys to get mad at. However, in the case of adoptionism in particular, we have pretty solid evidence of widespread practice prior to the First Council of Nicaea, and the argument can be made that it was the majority view in at least some Christian communities as late as the 5th Century.
(Interestingly, some contemporary Mormons also hold adoptionist views, though their version is distinct from what you're describing, as it involves Jesus being adopted as God's son at birth, not later in life.)
tagging @apocrypals if for no other reason than it's a fun fact they'll enjoy
Just to add — there is an argument to be made that the Gospel of Mark presents an adoptionist view of the divinity of Christ, i.e., that Jesus was just a dude until his baptism when God announced him as his son
If baking is science for hungry people then does that mean cooking is geometry for tired people? Exercise is theater for limber people? Dogs are friends for lonely people? 🤔 The possibilities are endless…
