The internet is a fun place. In researching Victorian era newspaper agony columns, I found this article that has a link to a dataset for actual London Times agony column postings from 1860-1879.
I thought it would be fun to write a little Holmes fic using secret coded messages from real agony column postings... and then I wrote a 15-chapter fic about the Hiatus. If you're into epistolary sad/angst with a happy ending, want to read stuff Victorians put in the newspaper, love when Mycroft makes an appearance in a fic, or are just a sucker for a Hiatus story, then enjoy.
A huge thank you to @julienbakerstreet for reading this and cheering me on!
Captain Wiggins of the Baker Street Irregulars follows Holmes to the Reichenbach Falls and tells the real adventures of the lost years...

Vampire’s exist! (Ain’t that crazy?)
Lurking in spots where it’s hazy
Dr Watson might pout
Since he sits this one out
Will he ever forgive them? Well maybe…
Lovely to finally be about to hold the physical copy of @very-sincerely-yours-zine, a wonderful Holmes & Watson anthology organised by @haedraulics and @inevitablies, with half the proceeds going to The Palestine Children's Relief Fund. I contributed some illustrations for a story by @mistyzeo (with whom it is always a delight to work), a short retirement comic vaguely about transness, and a couple other merch bits. Thanks for having me!
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born on May 22, 1859. The physician/writer is best known for creating the brilliant detecting duo, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. #botd
Still waiting with baited breath in hopes that you may have SOME books able to sell for those who missed out on the kickstarter, or even another publishing round for the books. *begs on knees*
Yes, we have a decent number of physical books which will be sold in our Leftovers sale in June. As for a re-print, it will depend on a few things in our moderators' lives (as in, if they get accepted to grad school abroad this autumn!) Otherwise, we will keep you updated on both fronts.
It may be that you are not yourself luminous, but that you are a conductor of light. Some people without possessing genius have a remarkable power of stimulating it.
[ID: Digital painting, a recreation of one of Leyendecker's Interwoven Socks ads, of a gentleman sitting in a wooden chair before a wooden desk, clutching some envelopes in hand. Instead, it's Dr Watson as played by David Burke, and there's an assortment of chemistry vials on the desk as well as a microscope.
Watson's in a light suit and has a yellow flower pinned to his lapel. The chair he sits in is a swivel one. He sits before a solid coral background. /end ID]
(details and some rambling under the cut!)
While I mostly find that quote up there like a big backhanded compliment, there's a part of me that finds it really endearing.
I think, the question is, can pure sunshine be a conductor of light? Because that's what Watson, especially David Burke's, is to me.
I started this study on the day Mr Burke's passing was shared publicly without knowing if I'd finish it, but I ended up chipping away at it light by little these past few days. I hope I have managed to do him even the slightest bit of justice 💛
Anyway, deets!

Hello all! Just a small shipping update for you today: On April 27th, Kickstarter sent us the funds currently collected for shipping, and since then we've sent out 277/818 rewards, or about 1/3rd of all rewards! All the Early Bird rewards have been shipped, and tomorrow we will finish shipping out CONSTANT COMPANION: Book Only rewards.
If you filled in your Pledge Manager after April 27th, do anticipate that your package may be sent a bit later, as shipping has only proceeded for those who submitted their forms before then.
If you haven't received a tracking link, that means your order has not yet been shipped. Please refrain from messaging us for shipping updates unless you're certain there is an issue, thank you!
Importantly, the only exception is orders for countries that our shipping service does not serve. These countries include Chile, Argentina, Ukraine, Lebanon, and Belarus. In this case, packages have been sent with Canada Post instead, which does not offer a tracking link, and so you may notice that your pledge status has changed to 'Shipped', but no tracking information is available. These packages take around 4 - 12 weeks to arrive, and if you suspect that your package may have been lost after that time period, please contact us and we can arrange a replacement service!
If you're among the lucky few who have already received their packages, feel free to share with us on social media--we love to see books and merchandise arriving! Tag us @very-sincerely-yours-zine on Tumblr, or @verysincerelyyours on Bluesky!
Much love to you all, and we hope to see you receive your rewards soon! 📦
