(this is a DM positive post i promise) since their first interaction in ep4 the dm subplot has felt extremely telenovela and almost soap opera surface level romance (it’s a univision night!) and the ep5 park scene really drove that home for me in a way where it actually feels intentional if we’re viewing that plot thread through daniel’s pov, where he’s so suspicious and reticent to believe a word coming out of armand’s mouth the soft lighting and the music feels very over the top, and not to mention armand’s borderline soap opera fanfiction dialogue

and the reason i think this is all intentional and why daniel is barely paying attention to what he’s saying (while also still clearly feeling SOMETHING) is because i think they’re going to smash the Gremlin Armand subplot into the DM subplot at 5 gees of acceleration and daniel is going to have this moment of “oh, there you are” there’s the great giant devouring insect that he loves

like i don’t dislike what we’ve seen of DM interactions so far, there’s just Something about them that feels so off from what we’ve seen of their dynamic in s1 and s2 and i do think the show is going to marry those two tones together in an insane way in ep6 and 7 (plus the whole thing about how armand is fully seen and understood for the first time)

he sees an AA meeting and his eyes light up with a kaching noise like in a cartoon. he’s like oh great, rules given to me by a higher power? an opportunity for self-flagellation? set steps i have to follow to cleanse me of my sins?

of COURSE he’s signing up instantly and attending 3 meetings a day
