“why isn’t everyone talking about xyz event!”
maybe because you’re on a social media platform and not a news outlet, and not everyone wants to spend every hour of their day focused on every disaster that happens on this planet. maybe because not making a tweet or post of acknowledgement doesn’t mean they don’t care or they’re not aware or they’re not worried. maybe because people want to just come and reblog some jokes and indulge in meaningless celeb gossip for a hot minute because not everyone has the mental capacity to spend all their time focused on everything bad that is happening in the world. maybe because someone posting a photo of their new haircut or a gifset of harry styles doesn’t mean they’re ignoring the serious issues, it just means they’re also indulging in stuff that makes them happy because if we didn’t, the entire planet would sink into a depressive state. maybe because most people understand that posting a text post on tumblr.com or a 140 character tweet on twitter.com, actually does fuck all to help the people of the caribbean islands, or the syrian refugees, or the starving children and is actually only posted because OP wants woke points for letting people know they know what’s happening in the world.
stop policing what people post, stop attacking people because you don’t see them speaking about whatever you deem to be the most important issue right now, if you actually want to help, donate money, donate aid and donate your time to the cause.
