charlotte couldn't stand being in a giant manor estate alone, it felt jarring. grabbing her bag, she left the estate and walked down the streets of redwood hollow. before she knew it she had stopped outside enchanted rose café. entering the store, she made her order and paid, and found a free table for her to take a seat at. after taking a seat, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and took to scrolling through her socials to pass the time.

"lottie! lottie! my favourite person in the land" she beamed and skipped over to her best friend "i was going to get us coffee and treats and stop by your place but it seems that great minds think alike" she smiled, sitting down next to charlotte "soooo.....are we just going to ignore the massive elephant in the room of hans kissing you in the middle of the ball?"

"Hey, are you a magician? 'Cause when I'm looking at you, you make everyone else disappear-," Rita grinned at them before poorly suppressing a laugh. "I'm sorry, I've had way too much pink wine." @happieststarters

"damn rita, you smooth little minx" she grinned and laughed along with her "oh pink wine is the most dangerous wine of all. that's the wine of confidence and no inhibitions"

"sorry, i didn't mean to. it just, uh, kinda came out-- i mean, i follow your stuff so this is kinda weird. not bad weird! good weird and i am going to strive to stop talking any minute now. peep...nelope," she concluded nervously with an added smile. lilo nodded as she spoke, clinging to each word for reassurance. she grinned at the 'lovely' (definitely didn't blush, okay!!)- "thank you for saying that and getting it. maybe change is good, right? i don't know."

"it's okay, don't worry about it. i'm not used to people in my day to day life using my full name." penelope let out a laugh at lilo's awkwardness. "you do? that's sweet of you, thank you. i don't think i'll ever get used to the idea of people seeing me as an influencer" she was just peep. "change is always good, it's a sign of growing and feeling like new beginnings"

“oooooh, you cut your own bangs. très chic!” penelope complimented, slipping her phone into her handbag “i love a choppy bang, it looks much better than a clean cut. what made you decide to cut some bangs? was it a breakup? it’s usually a breakup”

“ooh my god, penelope deery! i mean thank you, i totally knew you’d say that. i mean-- you know chic and you do chic so--,” her tongue was probably gonna fall out of her mouth any second now. lilo managed to chill long enough to reform her thoughts, grinning the whole time. “love that, yes. it wasn’t a break up but totally fair assumption. i haven’t really gone through any break ups, it was more like... i don’t know. i just woke up, looked in the mirror and just knew what had to be done. i feel better. lighter. if- if any of that makes sense.”

"did you just full name me?" she asked, amused "please call me penelope or peep, using my full name has me feeling like i'm back in school." she offered the younger girl "thank you, that's kind of you to say, and that makes complete sense. you felt like revamping your hairstyle a bit, there's no harm in that. and for the record, i think tehy look lovely on you"

Lottie LaBouff really knew how to throw a party. He’d been at some shindigs in his lifetime- mostly uninvited, mind you- but that had truly been the crème de la crème. Of course, every great party came with great consequences the day after. For Travis, it was a headache that only leftover pizza had been able to soothe. Once he’d felt brave enough, fresh air and coffee were next on the list. When he heard Penelope say what they were all thinking, he turned in his seat to hold his cup up to her in solidarity.

“Cheers to surviving the happy new year, huh?”

penelope reached for his arm in a bleak attempt of finding solidarity “trav, i love lottie dearly, but she’s getting the full blame for how bad my hangover is. my head is thumping” she whined, returning to her coffee and lifting up the cup “not going to lie though, it was worth it. that was one hell of a party”

unlike her sister, anita didn’t have the luxury of partying her pants off. she could’ve if she wanted to, but she wasn’t much fun when her far more fun baby sister was around. when peep was around, anita faded into the background for people. they were more focused on the famous deery sister. 

anita had messaged peep about meeting up for coffee and to run over some photos for the article she was writing. however complicated her feelings were towards her sister, she couldn’t deny that the girl knew how to pick great photos. 

“how are you still this exhausted?”

“the party went on for what felt like forever” she admitted, taking another drink of her glass of water. “i couldn’t tell you what time i ended up going home. i stayed the night at lottie’s and then we hung out over the long weekend” 

she knew anita didn’t care what she did. she was past the point of trying to figure out what anita wanted. she felt like she tried everything she could to win her sister over but she was no further forward, it would be less painful if she knew what the problem actually was “what photos did you take at the party?”

“I’m not sure if my coffee has that ability.” Adam said with a smile. But he enjoyed her face because she showered him with gratitude for the coffee and not often people did. Most often people just took the coffee for granted, were rude individuals that had no regard for his café or in the worst case ended on the banned list.

“adam, your coffee absolutely has that ability” she smiled in return. “if anything is going to save me from this hangover, it’ll be your coffee” penelope gulped down the hot drink and had to fight the urge of doing a little dance in her seat at the taste of the drink “ohmygod! wait! i heard you got engaged! congratulations!”

charlotte had barely seen penelope at the party. peep was too busy holding court and partying away while charlotte was off having emotional conversations with a certain person whom she was trying to not let consume her thoughts. 

she was thankful when she had received a text from penelope about meeting for a catch-up, she missed her friend being around. 

“peep!” she squealed back to match an octave that only animals could hear and hugging the other blonde back tightly “you too! i missed you! i barely saw you at new years and the next thing i know you were off jet-setting again.” she smiled, returning to her seat “where were you this time?”

“I know, I know. I had a job lined up in Aruba, and it was the only time they had available since they had a deadline” she explained as she took a seat. “Not that you missed me at the party. You throw one hell of a party, it took me days to recover after it.” she laughed. 

“What time did the party finish up?” The place was still jumping when she had taken her leave to go get some rest before her flight. Honestly, Penelope was gutted she had to leave early. “Tell me everything. What did I miss?”

She was sure that town was still nursing their hangovers and recovering from New Year, herself included. The town has been out on full force, partying like their lives depended on it at the La Bouff estate. Penelope dragged herself to the Enchanted Rose Café for some coffee that she desperately needed. By the time she eventually got her coffee and took a sip when she had sat down at a nearby table, she was near tears at how thankful she was for coffee.

Penelope and Charlotte had grown up together, they’d entered the spotlight together and they stuck together through the whole model and influencing mania they seemed to attract. 

She hadn’t seen Charlotte since her history-making New Year party. She’d been called away on a job straight after and was now more than ready to catch up with one of her nearest and dearest 

“Lottie!” she squealed happily when she entered the café and dashed over to give her a hug “It’s so good to see you!”
