The Boys of Dungeon Lane
"Lost Horizon"
The call of a train whistle cutting through the night, I still remember that sound. The pairing of a car engine waiting at the light, laughter from a children’s playground. That sound can lift me up, that sound can do my head in, that sound can take me back To the lost horizon. Where every memory we shared brought us closer together, And every day we spent there was the start of the first day of forever. Day breaks along the lost horizon, time makes every moment count, The chimes of a clock ticking on the tabletop, will I remember that sound? The breaking of a bus driver coming to a stop, music from a distant fairground, That sound can shake me up, That sound can lift my spirits That sound can take me back To the lost horizon Where every memory we shared brought us closer together And every day we spent there Was the start of the first day of forever
"We Too"
One, two, three I want to live for love So many people do Over, over again My thoughts return to you You give me what I want You show me how it's done Always, always, my friend You'll be my only one Last night, I dreamed of you And all that we could do Together, side-by-side We two can do [...] We want to live for love Like other people do Over, over again I'll be in love with you
"Never Know"
I want to be the one That's rooting for you Lying in the sun again I want to feel your touch The things that you do Have always meant so much to me I want some love and peace We need it right now Your wonders never cease to be I love you but you know My heart is breaking Over you, well, you got me on the run My body’s shaking Oh, oh, oh, my mind is black and blue I love you but I never know
Fuck a duck.
How more blatant does this man have to get
Seeing this in Man On The Run made me so happy 🥰
Normalizing George and Paul as besties.
The gasp I gasped when this came up.
Paul McCartney unreleased songs link compilation
So basically I made a google doc with the links to almost all (like 99%) of Paul's unreleased songs written by him alone that are available on youtube.
I'll share the link to the doc. I wrote it with the "mclennon files" google account. You can edit it if I forgot some songs, please don't remove things or something like that, I trust you. I hope you'll appreciate it and will find it useful, this took me a lot of time.
Paul McCartney unreleased songs link compilation Author: st-johns-wood A while ago I listened to all the unreleased songs written by Paul
They're listed in alphabetical order. I also want to add the recording year in the future. You can help me with that if you want.
im still not over "too many people" by Paul McCartney. He quite literally said you'll never make it without me, your wife is a bitch, you're a coke whore, you have an eating disorder, no one cares about what you're saying, my wife loves me and I don't give a fuck about you anymore
this was genuinely the faggiest he had ever looked. twink with a moustache was revolutionary. changed the scene. bisexuality was invented

I'm sorry if it's been discussed before but why do people think "run for your life" is about paul? Or is it just a joke?
I don't think it's a joke nonny, though maybe it is for some folks?
To be honest, I think you could probably take any song John ever wrote and find someone who thinks it's about Paul.
For me Rubber Soul reads (possibly more than any other Beatles album) as a conversation between John and Paul about their relationship.
Some relevant dates:
March 1965 - dentist assaults John and George by spiking their drinks with LSD August 1965 - Ringo joins John and George in voluntarily taking LSD, Paul refuses October 1965 - Rubber Soul recording sessions begin December 1965 - Paul tries LSD with Tara Browne
So Rubber Soul was written and recorded between the time when John and George really started putting the pressure on Paul to try LSD, and the time he found a way to try it without it feeling too much like giving in.
Here are my interpretations of the songs on Rubber Soul:
Drive My Car: a fun song about the formation of the Beatles. "She" is John, the car is the Beatles, and the protagonist is Paul. John had an unformed plan, and meeting Paul was the start of getting things moving.
Norwegian Wood: I vacillate on this one, but one version I have in my mind is that Paul is the girl and there was some incident where he "led John on" and then backed out in a charming but frustrating way. (Possibly tying into "I never give you my pillow", 4 years later) .
You Won't See Me: Paul was living in Jane's house, this doesn't make any sense to be about Jane. I think it's about Paul struggling to get John's attention after the whole LSD thing started. "I wouldn't mind if I knew what I was missing".
Nowhere Man: One of John's songs where he's talking about Paul, but he's also talking about himself. "You don't know what you're missing".
Think For Yourself: George telling Paul to get with the program, he and John are moving (and now Ringo) on without him (Paul).
The Word: Not totally about Paul, but not *not* about wanting Paul to join him in his new understanding.
Michelle: Paul saying "hey John, remember when we were just having a laugh. I still need you though, even if we're not communicating very well"
What Goes On: John saying he's having trouble understanding Paul. I think the "tides of time" line is about when they first met, and John was waiting for everything to start.
Girl: Paul is the girl.
I'm Looking Through You: I mean, just read the lyrics with their differences over LSD in mind.
In My Life: I do like the reading that this is about Julian, but I think it's also about Paul.
Wait: Don't give up on me. We can work it out (so to speak). Paul references this song in Hey Diddle after the breakup ("my heart isn't strong, don't be long").
If I Needed Someone: (not relevant, but I often wonder if George is talking to Bob Dylan here)
and so we finally get to Run For Your Life. In the context of all these interpretations I don't think it's a stretch at all that RFYL is about Paul. I don't like the sentiment (whether or not it's about Paul), but it's consistent with John's self-descriptions. He was a Jealous Guy.
I'm not sure you bargained for this much detail anon, but I hope you enjoyed it.
The Boys of Dungeon Lane - gatefold LP
The Boys of Dungeon Lane features a screen‑printed collage made from over 100 archive images, including previously unseen photography from Paul’s personal archive.
Is that an early John with Paul (“I was a fat schoolboy when I met him”) photo??
the inside of this exclusive boys of dungeon lane LP 🥺🥺
Still making collages for each other.
John is listening and he likes it. You did a good job Paul. And my effing playlist shuffles to Forever Young by Alphaville. 💔
It was the morning that we recorded 'Arrow Through Me'. The night before had been a particularly long one, it was the only time he ever spoke about it, nothing about his relationship, it was just more of a feeling that I had than anything, that he just missed that closeness... just a perception. My God, he misses John - that it was a huge hole in his life.
- Steve Holley [Wings' drummer from 1978 to 1981].
I’d love to have a conversation or hear someone else have that conversation with Glyn Johns. He was perceptive, as evidenced by his Demon Klein take.
Bold, as evidenced by telling John his perceptions and also telling John that he was being a bit naive.
He couldn’t take his own eyes off Paul. He is very much not hiding it in Get Back. That scene where he uses John’s lyrics over the mic as an excuse to whisper in Paul’s ear is as unsubtle as his endearing inability not to giggle around Paul. Plus his increasing effort with his outfits.
So, I think he would have been both extra vigilant about, and extremely sensitive to, noticing that John and Paul business.
I still can't believe these quotes are real: Part II
Paul: I would often sketch John when we worked together, often without him knowing it. It was so easy doing John because he had glasses, those sideboards...and that long...aquiline nose.
John: Paul looked like Elvis. I dug him.
Paul: I can still see John now: checked shirt, slightly curly hair…I remember thinking, ‘He looks good - I wouldn’t mind being in a group with him.
John: I'm like everyone else, Harry. I fell for Paul's looks.
Paul: I just thought, ‘Well, he looks good, he’s singing well and he seems like a great lead singer to me.’ Of course he had his glasses off, so he looked really suave…
John: I know Paul, you're so well-built.
Paul: I still remember his beery old breath when I first met him that day. But I soon came to love that beery old breath. And I loved John.
John: When we sang together, Paul and I would share the same microphone. I’d be close enough to kiss him.
Paul: When I painted him recently, I found myself saying, ‘How did his lips go?"
Johh: We’d be playing these concerts, in front of thousands of people, but the only thing I could see was Paul’s face. I could always feel his presence. It’s what I remember most about those concerts.
Paul: [While playing live] John was to the left or to the right of me, so I never got to see him perform so much. Except in [Get Back]. And there he is in massive closeup. I can study everything about him.
John: Oh, I've had [Paul]. He's no good.
Paul: John was a wild and woolly genius who it was my pleasure to work with, walk with, talk with and occasionally sleep with.
John: Nobody ever said anything about Paul's having a spell on me or my having one on Paul! They never thought that was abnormal in those days, two guys together! Why didn't they ever say, "How come those guys don't split up? What's going on backstage? What is this Paul and John business?
Paul: Please Please Me was John's idea. He liked the double meaning of “please”. Yeah, “please” is, you know, pretty please. “Please have intercourse with me. I beg you to have intercourse with me.” He liked that, and I liked that he liked that.
Paul: I will be overpowering this time. John: Oh, good. I like it when you're brutal.
Not everyone thinks that the Beatles are the 20th century’s greatest romance.
But I believe they are, and I’m not alone.
