Additional info: I will be in fact just making shit up as I go and would like to warn readers that a perfect photographic memory does not exist. According to Wikipedia, there have been no cases of a perfect photographic memory, and some scientists are beginning to believe that it does not exist perfectly with the help of memorization techniques. Like the mind palace technique that is talked about BBC's Sherlock. It is a real memorization method that has helped people memorize books and other kinds of information.

Additionally, according to Wikipedia, an eidetic memory actually refers to someone who can remember something in extreme visual detail for a short period of time, which is found more often in children than in adults.

Since Criminal Minds claims that Spencer has an eidetic memory, I am going to claim that the Reader has a photographic memory that is beyond what has been documented as humanly possible for the sake of the story.

Emily noticing that something was wrong with Spencer, and he opens up about his headaches, and then he notices that she was starting to pick her nails, but she won't tell him what is going on?

Especially since this happens right before Emily has to fake her death, and Spencer grieves her so hard. He feels that pain so deeply, and oh I am going to be thinking about this for awhile. That scene when Spencer confronts JJ about keeping Emily being alive a secret for all of that time is going to hurt even more now that I am remembering all of these things together.

I wish I could be fluent in every language. I wish that I was better at learning languages. There are so many songs that I don't understand, books to read, movies to watch, and yet I am limited to English originals, translations, and other people's interpretations. I don't want to miss out on all of the content that I can get my hands on, but there are also so many people who want to make the content so quickly that it's hard to know you can trust the captions on the screen. I can hardly get the English captions on a tv or my computer to tell me what is going on accurately.

That video of Alex Hirsch reading S&P notes for Gravity Falls conveys a few things to me:

1) the U.S. entertainment industry (especially animation) is run by older conservative types who make up offensive terms and get really mad about them.

2) the people who run Disney would be the first to fall in line with a fascist regime.

3) most of the media we consume is tailor-made and watered-down to appeal to the tastes of older, deeply religious conservative audiences.

4) conservatism, not the left, is and always has been the biggest voice of censorship in American culture.

J. Michael Straczynski, creator of Babylon 5, was before that a producer and writer for a number of cartoons in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s (The Real Ghostbusters and the original She-Ra, most notably). After a few years of dealing with the censors and their obsession with finding Satanism (or at least looking for Satanism to further political agendas) he wrote an article about the whole corrupt and bullshit system.

Every time something like this comes up, I remember two stories about making media. The first is about movies, and comes from Quentin “Feet Man” Tarantino.

When he was making Pulp Fiction, he was worried that the MPAA would object to the high level of violence in the film, so he shot a bunch of extra-gory stuff that he didn’t actually want in the film, and added it in before submitting it to the MPAA. Predictibly, they asked him to cut most of it (without even commenting on some of the things that had him worried, like the bits of Marvin’s skull that lodge in Samuel L. Jackson’s hairpiece). The resultant cuts were actually more permissive than he’d expected, so he cut a little more and submitted it, and it got passed with an R.

The second story is about that artist on Morrowind whose name escapes me (I’m not a big ES fan tbh) who figured out that if he made two creature designs, one weird and what he wanted, and one even weirder, he could get Todd Howard to agree to just about anything by showing him the whopper first, then going back and “working” for another few hours on a second, “toned-down” version, and it worked every time.

The reason I bring these up is that the thing that drives censors isn’t some extant physical rubrick of what is and isn’t acceptable, it’s the idea that they can have absolute power over someone else’s creative work. It’s about the social dominance of the interaction.

There is nothing so innocent, so clean, that a censor will not find some fault with it. Because they must find something wrong with it to justify their existence, and because it makes them feel powerful.

This is true of all censorship.

Bro finds out that oxygen, which is considered to be necessary for humans to breathe also oxidizes and is basically our bodies and cells up and then decides that he is going to make a new version of oxygen that won't increase the cell death rate.

Also, get this. There was a deep sea scientist that was doing research on deep see organisms, and when he came back from living in a submarine, and it was believed that the ends of his chromosomes had actually regenerated and made the scientist appear younger. Scientists did more research on this, and it appears that there are some methods that scientists are looking into to further protect the ends of our chromosomes from degenerating, essentially continuing to extend our life span.

Rocky and his scientist friends are most definitely going to find a way to increase the human life span, one way or another.

I seriously cannot stop thinking about a Criminal Minds and Supernatural crossover, and the thing that I have in mind right now is a post COVID, Emily Prentiss and Sam Winchester stuck in the woods together while hunting a wendigo. Because of the pandemic, there have been less people out and about, and we see this from more animals becoming more confident in moving into neighborhoods. That was for most animals. So the monsters that usually live in the deepest parts of the woods and make up for most hikers going missing had to move into more public spots. They started hunting in the more populated and open hiking trails, trying to get something. Anything.

Obviously I would be fucking with the timelines a bit, but I am imagining like a season 10 Sam and Dean Winchester. They are used to being chased and evading the government, so the BAU gets put to making a profile on them, but they never thought they would have an encounter with them. They were following up on a possible cannibalism case that had they had lost track of when the pandemic hit, and when Prentiss tries to check out the scene again after finding some new clues, she runs into Sam Winchester. The two of them get stuck in the woods together, trying to figure out how to survive this while trying to reunite with their own people.

I have a lot more details that I am ruminating about, and honestly, I think that I could make a very short series about this. This has been plaguing my mind for the last couple of days.
