A/N: Alright, first Norse demigods and what better way to start with then the Allfather himself! I tried my best with him and hopefully the format with this one will be good and stays consistent for the rest of the Norse demigod hcs. Hope you enjoy it and thank you for reading! Being the demigod of Odin is both the most awesome thing but also the worst thing. You have a lot to live up to and when people find out youāre the child of Odin, they expect you to live up to being his kid. Especially since heās been more or less been AWOL for a while so any appearance of his kids are expected to represent him symbolically.
They expect you to be wise, powerful, and strong just like Odin, again adding to the whole bit of ārepresenting him symbolicallyā bit but try as you might, youāre still half-god of Odin and your experiences are only measurable so there will be times you always feel (made) short.
Waiting in Valhalla for Ragnarok leaves plenty of time for you to spend, alongside all the battle combat training to keep yourself sharp. If you have the desiring burn to pursue knowledge, congrats! That is a trait from Odin, who is a seeker of knowledge; though youāre probably not going to be hanging yourself from the World Tree for 9 Days and Nights to discover the secret of the Runes.
However, if you have the equivalent experience of Odin standing in a blizzard for 6 days to learn how to use a smartphone, then thatās pretty much it.
Your pursuit and seeking of knowledge feeds you insistently and good thing youāre half-god because once youāre interested in learning something, youāre going to be spending literal consecutive days to learn as much as you can.
Though thatās probably not unheard of for neurodivergent individuals.
As Odinās child, there is a higher chance of you being able to learn and use Magic, as Odin is the God of Magic. This is greatly helped by the use of Runes, however, despite Odinās greatest achievement of discovery of the Runes, that part isnāt passed onto you so you must learn how to use the power of the Runes in your pursuit of Magic.
The Rune for Odin, AnsuzĀ įØĀ is either one of the first Runes you learn about or feel drawn to as it calls out to you. It mightāve been a hit or miss a few times as Ansuz means God as it refers to Odinās breath; as a gift to humanity for live and being able to understand one another.
As your rune, especially as a child of Odin, it symbolizes and helps you communicate and you have good speaking skills, as it is the rune of communication and of spoken word as you carefully piece together what you say before you speak it out loud. This is also supported further that Odin is a god of poetry, being able to not only speak beautifully and persuasively, but also write it in such a manner too.Ā
The Runes are also useful and are powerful enough in your hands, that you can use divination through it. If you also inherited the power of prophecy and foresight like Odin, you can become a Vala - a seer- to see the future with runes, alongside cast spells if you have magical talent.
You might have a higher chance or likely know a second language at minimum. Paired with Odinās connection with communication and seeker of knowledge, learning another language comes more easily to you; though still filled with challenges as you learn to understand the words and sounds behind the language, as well as how it is written, and the culture and history behind it all.
Though there is also a chance you could just see past, present, and future but that power is probably rare for how powerful it is and you might not be able to access other talents as easily; whether it's because youāre spending your time to refining and understanding this power, or because this is a very great and powerful gift.
You have the penchant for being sneaky and being basically a trickster, youāre either fueled because you know something people donāt and like to use it to your advantage, or for the sheer fun of it all.
Considering Alex Ferro is able to shiftshape because of their godly parent Loki, and Odin is able to shapeshift himself (which he uses to his full advantage), I can imagine that this is also a trait possible to children of Odin. There is however a difference as Odinās shapeshifting has always leaned itself to disguising himself as different people.
So if you do inherit the power of shapeshifting, it's only limited to people. Maybe you can shapeshift yourself into someone else but it comes with much more difficulty, maybe requiring deep knowledge about that face youāre donning, or maybe because that seems more to fall onto Lokiās aspect than Odin who shapeshifts to mask himself then trick others.
As a god of War, being able to wield weapons comes almost like instinct to you. Although you may have a preferred weapon that is true to your soul, you have the talent in using what you have to fight and you are able to understand its potential to properly fight and protect. If you find yourself being drawn to the spear, youāre definitely Odinās kid but he would approve any weapon you choose. Just if you use a spear, donāt stab yourself in the side with it.
Have you ever fed a murder of crows before and a few times? Thatās a part of being Odinās kid. You have a love for Corvids, but particularly Ravens and they are particularly drawn to you. While it is best to have a Raven much like Father Odin, other corvids are also drawn to you like Crows as a second, followed by bluejays or magpies.
Others included rooks, jawdaws, other kinds of kays, treepies, choughs, and nutcrackers.Ā You may be very successful in training and befriending the corvids who drop by for snackies and return with shinies.
The song āPasserineā by The Oh Hellos, seems fitting given the connection with the Ravens.
You have definitely used or have no problem using Bluetooth functions because of Odinās connection with the Runes and the logo for Bluetooth is based on the Norse Runes āHagallā į¼ Ā and āBjarkanā į.
Funny enough, you manage to make a rune with the Bluetooth logo and it works like a Bluetooth hotspot. Now how will you use it further? Who knows! Maybe you can figure it out, Iām not the one who is Odinās kid.
Though if you figure that out, be prepared for some spending time with Odin because heāll want to know all the mysteries and sorcery behind it and thatāll last for days; much like trying to teach an adult who isnāt as adept at technology.
If Corvids arenāt your biggest thing, then surely itās the wolves, and by extension dogs, and further down Canines. Youāre definitely a dog lover and you canāt help patting every dog you meet and give them all the love and pets for being the best doggos in the world.
If you had a wolf phase at some point in your life, or still are, congrats, Odin would be very proud that you appreciate these wonderful doggos. You definitely carry around dog and bone treats for these canines as a result.
(And going back to corvids, the dog treats are also very good for them too so double bonus!)
Odin can be considered a Death God and considering the Einherjar are under Odinās eternal army, which are composed of those who have died with bravery during a challenge or fight where theyāve saved others,Ā it's sufficient to say necromancy may appear as one of your abilities.
While you cannot command an army of ghosts immediately to your will, or revive the dead (both also include the Einherjar), you probably can see ghosts and communicate with them better than most. If youāre part of the living, this ability also extends to being able to pick out Einherjar that are walking around in the Nine Realms, particularly with their golden aura.
Me when I'm transported to the riordanverse, but instead of being a Greek demigod with plot armor I'm a Norse demigod who dies immediately because there are deadass no safe havens for me and I go to hotel Valhala where I'm forced to train aka participate in simulated warfare, quotes on "simulated" because I experience getting maimed and murdered/watch my peers get maimed and murdered and actually live through every second of it, just to do it the next day so I can be prepared to fight in the end of the world that could happen in a 1000 years or tomorrow, slowly getting desensitized to blood gore and violence
Speaking of things that RR is underutilizig about Annabeth-the Chase family and the whole drama surounding it. Rick truly just dropped that:
A) Annabeth has connection to Norse myths
B) Gods are attracted to her family
C) Chase family has drama comparing to game of thrones
And then just dipped. There is no way it only affect Magnus and also not Annabeth. I think that was my biggest pet peeve about Magnus Chase series. Making Annabeth a cousin basically had no effect on both of their stories. There is so much wasted potential.

Do we even know why theyāre attracted to the Chase bloodline?? I refuse to believe that Fredrick has hella game in the godly world naturally
Also we donāt get any more information (from what I can find) on the argument that led to the falling out between their other uncle and parents?? Annabeth doesnāt even get to react to his death?? That shit couldāve been juicy as fuck. Especially since Annabeth ran away and Magnus became estranged with the rest soon after?? Hell past gossip is probably juicy as fuck since itās clear that multiple pantheons are involved in this family. Imagine coming to a family gathering only to find out that the gods of a different pantheon is real
And are they (plus Matthew and Bobby) the last of their generation in the Chase bloodline?? We donāt hear about more cousins or aunts/uncles, so like is it just them? Oh gods is Annabeth gonna have to deal with gods hitting on her mortal half brothers?? Does Percy and Alex have to deal with gods of other pantheons hitting on Annabeth and Magnus??
