My version of 'Buck is still Tommy's emergency contact':

The first thing Tommy notices waking up, apart from the pain, is Evan pacing in the room and ranting about "how he could dare to do something like that" and "how he hopes to never get a call like that again".

So Tommy dejectedly tells Buck that he will delete him as his emergency contact, only to be met by an outraged look and a "And find out through the LAPD grapevines?! Don't you dare Thomas Kinard. I might be terrified of getting calls of you in the hospital but I will come running every single time."

There's a few seconds of silence until Tommy answers with

"You better make me yours as well then."

"You still are."

"Good."

"Good."

Then they smile their Tommy/Evan smiles at each other and because they're allergic to communication they don't get back together at that moment but Buck can't stop fussing over Tommy since he's injured.

Somehow that results in Buck moving in and never leaving again.

It would be kinda funny if they would just hard launch bucktommy in 9x01 by not mentioning Buck's living situation until the end of the episode:

When everyone gets to reunite with their family. Buck does the same. He goes home - it looks homey - and cautiously opens the bedroom door, which reveals a sleeping Tommy.

Buck tries to get into bed without waking him, but Tommy sleepily opens his eyes, smiles his Evan smile and says "I love waking up next to you".

Buck replies with "good thing I moved in then, right?" while laying down.

The only response he gets is Tommy pulling him in and falling asleep again.

Guess Tommy loves to fall asleep next to his Evan too.

My current top three contestants for if they decide to reconcile Bucktommy by only mentioning Tommy:

1. "You haven't been baking in a while" "Eh... y-yeah, I don't have to fight the urge anymore... Tommy and I have been talking again"

2. Buck watches others being happy, picks up his phone, dials a number and asks "Hi... So what are you doing on Saturday?"

3. Buck is asked about where he'll live with Eddie being back and he answers "Oh, I'm staying with Tommy, he offered me his guest room" "Judging from your face you aren't using the guest bed, are you?"

All of those options are obviously followed with Buck's Tommy smile

Ok but now thinking about it... It's such a good sign, that there was no bucktommy interaction... Like Tommy was so unbelievably unnecessary to the plot in this episode but they still chose to put him in it

This probably reassured me for him being endgame/long term way more than any interaction with Buck could have

Athena calling Tommy Buck's boyfriend makes sense because who in their right mind would call their ex to help them with commiting domestic terrorism and who in their right mind would come to help their ex with domestic terrorism?

They literally are 'You came?' 'You called?'

I can't stop imagining Tommy anxiously watching the monitors even before Buck calls Athena. He's a pessimist after all.

Exactly like Athena, Tommy wants to see everyone coming out.

Unlike Athena, he feels like he has to do that hidden away.

And then he realizes that Buck and Bobby won't come out but Athena's going in.

Something is clearly wrong right now and Evan is still in there.

Then he sees Buck coming out the door. He's relieved to see him until Buck's breaking down.

Before the official news have reached him or anyone on the outside, Tommy knows what happened.

Tommy can't stop himself from watching the love of his life break down through a screen, he feels hopeless and powerless.

He himself has suffered these past few months, especially since the hook up. But he never wants Evan to feel like he looks right now. He would do anything to comfort Evan...

But it isn't his place to go and comfort Evan anymore, is it?

Honestly, 'commiting domestic terrorism for an ex he still has feelings for' kind of tracks with his record of

i.e. 'flying into a hurricane (and "probably going to die anyway" or at least losing their jobs) for an old coworker's hunch'

Tommy is just that crazy (and Buck loves him for it)

As far as we know, Buck never told Tommy about him also wanting to reach out or the baking.

As far as we know, Tommy made himself vulnerable by telling Buck about wanting to call and driving past his house without it being reciprocated by Buck.

As far as we know, Tommy thinks that he has been hung up on Buck for months but Buck doesn't even have feeling for him anymore.

So you're telling me that Tommy still kisses Buck's boil covered body face?

That man is GONE.

The fact that Tommy can still look at Buck's boil covered face with that lovestruck impression kills me.

I mean look at his face while his boyfriend spouts on about this curse.

I love how Buck's adhd was actively portrayed as something good in this episode.

He knew how to handle the bees in both calls, understood Tommy's niche joke AND saved Gerrard from the blade.

Honestly, what a step up from head canoning that Tommy listens to Buck's info dumping to him not only him listening to Buck's story (where he info dumped his bee facts for sure) but also making a dorky science joke...

I mean "you're a vision in a cone". What a niche joke, I'm dead.

And look at how happy they are, they found in each other someone who listens to ramblings and understands dorky references that most people probably don't get.

I'm sorry but the man that you are Tommy Kinard.

"Are we still talking about cake?", "I'm wearing a medal", the LOOK HE GAVE THEM WHILE WALKING AWAY

I know that his humor isn't for everyone but it definitely works for me... The sass???

Even his deleted scenes are IMPECCABLE.

For me, Tommy's response was perfect. Look at how cautious and worried he looked at Buck...

He gave Buck the opportunity to talk about it or deflect, and when Buck did the latter Tommy eased up, laughed over Buck's deadpan "exactly" and also opened up about his experience.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: that man knows how to handle his Evan

I LOVE the bucktommy scene, it's so intimate...

Tommy notices how Buck seems down and asks about it. Buck opens up about trauma and Tommy reciprocates (which btw is a great set up for Gerrard being back as captain... Like the potential for Tommy season 8 stuff???)

And then when Buck decides to turn the conversation into flirting, Tommy matches his energy again.

That man's ability to read Buck is impeccable.
