Here's a refsheet for the redesign of Kaèl ! One of the three main characters in the comic I'm working on.
He is calm and mature, but can easily get annoyed. He knows his way around the world and loves to cook for others ! But he easily gets nervous and can prove to be a bit of a coward sometimes.
A bit of lore...
Born in the Radiant City of Laifir, Kaèl used to be an adventurer. He has always been fascinated by the myriad of plants that thrives through the different ecosystems of Kŏnŏgaia. As a result of this passion, Kaèl spent most of his life travelling through the world, in the hopes of discovering and cataloguing as many plants as he could.
During his travels, Kaèl learned a lot about the different cultures and people living in Kŏnŏgaia. He learned languages, cooking recepies, dances, and many other traditions.
But one day, as he was exploring the deep jungles of Èptikrion, Kaèl encountered a terrible entity. As he tried to escape, he got hit by a forbidden spell capable of turning flesh to stone. In the world of Va'Gaia, petrification is the ultimate death : irreversible, it completly destroys the victim's soul, breaking the great cycle of resurrection. Fortunatly for him, Kaèl managed to flee far enough to stop the spell's influencethe, and the petrification stopped at his shoulder. But now, he has one arm completely turned to stone. He would never be able to fly again.
After the incident, Kaèl decided to head back to Laifir. He abandonned his dream of travelling the world to setup an herb and spice shop : "The Traveller's Essential". Even if he had to abandon adventure, he could at least continue his passion for plants. Some years passed, and with the developpement of the city's Great Harbour, Kaèl's shop started to have less and less clients. Why would anyone come to his boutique where he sold local produce, when the harbour's market had what seemed like anything from all around the world ?
When Kaèl met Milø and Siwèn, two young Aviès that decided to travel to the Isles of Jaèton, he decided to help them in their quest. Some say the Isles are home to the greatest and most powerful mages of Kŏnŏgaia. Maybe someone there would be able to revert the petrification of his arm ? Oh, and also, these two young birds will need his help and expertise if they hope to survive their journey...
