hi! really love the work you're doing, i struggle with motivating myself to draw to the point of month-year long gaps between sketch attempts and your work+the way you post critically about art has been really insightful to me and helped me start up again :) here are some questions i have been bouncing around that you may enjoy answering

-is there any influence you want to discuss that affected your current direction? these can be historical artists/movements and people you consider peers (preferably both, the cross between these is something im really interested in myself)

-do you have any suggestions or resources for people who are more used to the fandom art framework that are interested in exploring & engaging with other types of art?

my current direction is influenced by paul peng, yoshitomo nara, the surrealists (max ernst in particular), and like. following the directions my art was already pointing me if that makes sense... other influences include my friend chatty, scribblechicken, focus, all are pushing furry into artsier places tho these are less direct visual influences and more like. ppl who made me wanna get more weird with it. spiritual influences. i guess my mom is an influence too? she is a ceramicist and painter and its

for ppl more interested in getting out of the fandom art framework my number one suggestion is develop ur art literacy. study art history, go to museums. learn what u like but also learn to appreciate all kinds of art. spend some time with works, look beyond whats depicted to *why* its depicted and what the artist is saying about it. learn how to appreciate art u dont *like*, art that u find "ugly" or "sloppy" or "simple" often has surprising depth whether thats conscious conceptual work, or the artists emotional baggage unconsciously spewed onto a canvas. both are interesting in their own way. art history will help with this too, adding back in the context stripped by many museums' and galleries' presentation - remember art is a conversation. w physical media pay close attention to the physicality of the art - the 3-dimensionality of brushstrokes, the texture of charcoal on paper or of cast bronze, and what it does for the overall piece. and most importantly, keep the conversation going! get ur friends talking abt art w u, write about art, make ur own!

f-list, if you are not aware, has made a recent decision that they'd like to store all your chat logs on their servers in the notoriously porn friendly state of... Arizona? unencrypted and in plaintext. when people pushed back against this, they said "okay we'll walk it back. here are five options we can do instead" but none of those options were "don't store our shit".

as the sort of paranoiac who has a gun ready to shoot my printer if it makes a funny sound without my permission (this is a joke), this was unacceptable.

so, over the past three weeks i made carrion. it is a chat platform for adult roleplay. we store absolutely nothing outside of profile data. everything is all in ram and we use clever programming tricks to get around several of the obvious limitations this would cause. we are being serviced by a privacy-focused hosting provider in iceland. god forbid we ever get subpoenad because simpsons porn becomes illegal, there is literally nothing on our servers for them to grab.

there are also some cool features beyond just the privacy angle. cherubplay style ephemeral chat ads instead of spamming the chatroom with "please roleplay with me"s. flexible character profiles (with optional myspace level of customization should you have the gumption to master html) with flexible kinks. chat that should in theory Just Work.

also, because this is a solo project i rule over with an iron fist i can guarantee zero enshittification. i will make a platform that works functionally, has all the features it needs, and then stop adding more shit and just host it until it stops being used. aren't you tired of constant discord updates? don't you miss usable, functional, peer to peer websites?
