So metaknight and Marx already have some similarities and differences. One is stoic and tries to be intimidating. A true warrior. When in reality he hides a softer side and softer features. The other is a funny guy, a little fellow. A fun loving jester. When in reality he’s got a more hideous tricker side with horrifying features. Both actively hide these for different reasons. Both have tried to take over dreamland in some way. However if we add in a meta personality fan favorite- a man who hides his monster like forms in order to not have those believe he is a monster. Then we have something interesting.

So the idea is Marx who fucks with everyone finding out about not just Meta knights softer self but his monster features which Marx immediately teases him with by pretending that he’d leak this info to everyone. Marx secretly is now more interested in Metaknight. Someone who he kinda can empathize with in a very particular way.

Meta knight is very annoyed, somewhat suspicious, and even a little afraid of Marx. The moment Marx finds out about the secrets he’s tried hiding for so long he immediately becomes afraid and his metaphorical mask breaks. He basically beg threatens Marx until he comes to see Marx has no interest in spreading gossip but just pseudo threatening him to get a reaction.

Meta knight thinks that it. Marx had his fun and he’ll go away now. But weirdly enough Marx has now been showing up more and more. Annoying Meta and his knights.

At first Meta thinks Marx is trying to get him to spill more secrets. Especially due to Marx constantly asking about his monster abilities and how he deals with them. At some point he realizes Marx is actually intrigued by Meta, even admitting he has a genuine excitement for find out someone else in dreamland has strange abilities and forms like him.

They become pretty chummy (though meta stays on edge secretly in case Marx is playing the long game) exchanging secrets and gossip. Marx even becomes a bit of a better person by being around Meta and Meta learns to loosen up. I don’t know who’d catch feelings first. Or if they’d both figure out at the same time due to some incident. Maybe Marx or Meta gets in real trouble and the other risks their health to save them, causing the other to help them back to heath and being alone and tender constantly causes some convos that cause an admission in attraction.

They both deny it, meta being serious over it and refusing to believe he’d fall for a lying jester thief and Marx in laughing denial over romantic feeling to begin with until they both say “fuck it” and start seeing each other in secret.
