.....
You had lived in small towns your whole life, moving from school to school, and never staying in the same place for too long, but for some reason you can't quite figure out, Forks felt different. It was gray yet vivid, quiet yet loud, and most of all it was small just like you were used to, but there was something larger than life about the place.
You had only lived here for about a week now, and today would finally be your first day at school, and at work for that matter. You had moved here with your mom and immediately hunted for a job at the local diner; she claimed to need distance from your dad, even though it had been years since the divorce, but naturally you couldn't blame her. "Y/n? Are you almost ready babe?" Her voice called from downstairs waking your from your trance as you stared at yourself in the mirror.
"Yeah ma, just about!" You called back down sighing in relief. It sounded like she was going to be in a better mood today. That's the thing about your mom; she was just about as psycho as your dad. Every good day for her was accompanied by a bad month. On a good note however, being raised in a toxic household taught you how to raise yourself to be a better person than the ones who raised you, so who were you to complain really?
After grabbing your bookbag and a warm jacket you tumbled downstairs trying desperately to not be late on your first day at a new school. "Ready." You declared with wide eyes and a half-hearted smile as the two of you made your way to the car.
Oh yeah, another perk of having parents who chronically mistrust you not matter what you do; you're not allowed to drive yourself.

As you pulled into the school parking lot you hurriedly grabbed your bag and opened the door in a rush with a quick bye to your mom.
The school was tiny and covered in a shiny fresh coat of rain. Though you never got to experience too much growing up except for the occasional thunderstorm here and there, you couldn't help but to love the rain. Everything about it drew you in; the feeling, the smell, the freshness of it all. It always felt like a new beginning and that was something that you longed for always.
The first few classes droned by dully with the exception of a teenager every now and then welcoming you to Forks with a myriad of questions. It wasn't anything your weren't used to, but despite loving being alone, you hated the feeling of being lonely, so you took the chance to make any new acquaintance you could.
Starting with a soft spoken girl named Angela and her boyfriend Eric. They were both super friendly and invited you to lunch with them rather quickly which is where you met the rest of their group.
Angela introduced you to everyone making sure you were included in the conversation. First there was Jessica. She was a bit snarky and quite honestly you could already tell she wasn't your type of person. Though beautiful she made it perfectly clear she was jealous of anything that breathed.
Then there was Mike, he was sweet and goofy like a golden retriever and you couldn't help but like him instantly, but you could already tell he was the type to fall fast, so you'd have to make it perfectly clear you didn't do 'dating.'
The last in the group was Bella. She was incredibly stunning, and extraordinarily awkward, but you didn't mind, she seemed to be perfectly kind and for that you were immediately grateful.
"So, why'd you move here of all places? I mean there's nothing here really unless you count school as a 'fun' activity." Jessica scoffed out with a sarcastic laugh.
You laughed with her, because really, she wasn't entirely wrong. "Well my mom just kind of needed a change of scenery, and Forks definitely has that going for it." You stated, noting the plentiful forestry and gorgeous mountains, "Besides, I'm more of the homebody type anyhow."
"Yeah, same here." Bella chimed in with a playful huff.
Mike snorted looking at her as he spoke to you, "Don't listen to her, trust me she's out plenty with her two boyfriends keeping her company."
You raised your eyebrows incredulously.
Angela huffed and you noticed that Eric had wrapped his arm around her shoulder. Well, that's adorable. "Mike shut it. Don't listen to him Y/n, he's just jealous." She rolled her eyes at him, "Bella only has one boyfriend, Jacob is just a friend. Not that it's anyone's business Mike." She looked at him pointedly and he jokingly rolled his eyes back at her.
As the conversation continued I looked across the table at Bella and noticed she was nervously chewing her bottom lip between her teeth. A habit you had as well.

After the final bell had rung you spotted Bella outside heading in the direction of what you assumed was her truck and decided to catch up with her.
"Hey Swan, wait up." You lightly jogged up to her from behind putting a hand on her shoulder as you finally made your way to her.
"Oh hey, what's up?" She questioned awkwardly as per usual, but you didn't let it bother you.
"Hi, sorry, I was just wondering if there was any chance you could give me a ride home? My ma's still at work, and I know it's super last minute but I think it's about an hour long walk and I'd totally get in trouble if I tried to forage that by myself." You cringed slightly feeling like an inconvenience.
She sighed almost relieved and gave you a small crooked smile. "Yeah of course, hopefully you don't mind the noise. My trucks not exactly new." She chuckled and you laughed with her feeling a weight off your chest at what could potentially be an easy friendship.
You were about halfway to your house when she finally started talking. Not that the silence was uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry about lunch. I hope Mike didn't make you too weirded out by me. I don't actually have two boyfriends." She huffed out.
"Oh, no not at all, don't even worry about it." You shrugged it off. "But if you don't mind, I am a bit curious." A smirk lit up your face as you glanced as the chocolate haired girl.
She got one good look at your face and cracked a small smile of her own before it quickly turned into a frown. "Well, my uh boyfriends name is Edward. Him and his family⌠moved.. away about 6 months ago, and we sorta broke up I guess. Pretty harshly actually."
You listened to her talk as she winded down the roads, fully invested in her story.
"While he was gone, I kind of broke down I suppose." She looked over at you scrunching her eyebrows, "I know that sounds dramatic, but we have this bond I guess and it just hurt you know? Anyways, while he was gone I started to spend a lot of time with my friend Jake. Jacob. I blocked everyone else out, he was the only person I could really stand to be around, and I know it's selfish of me, but I knew he liked me and I guess I took advantage of that so he would stay with me a bit longer. Flash forward a couple of months and I get this call from Edward, he's in Italy⌠and he wants me to come down and see him. Well, as you can guess Jacob didn't like that very much, but I had to go. It's different with Edward. Anyways Edward told me that his family was moving back, and when we got home Jacob wouldn't talk to me anymore."
You took in every detail of her story as she fumbled around her words. "So, you haven't spoken since then?"
She looked tragic now, "That's the worst part I suppose. He showed up at my house a couple of weeks ago, and Edward was there. They got in this fight and I told Jacob that if he made me choose I would choose Edward every time. And that was the last time we spoke." This time she glanced at your face sheepish as if looking for judgement.
Instead you just smiled softly at her. "Your life sounds like something straight out of a novel." I grinned laughing a little, "We're gonna have so much fun together trust me."
She smiled back at you. A real smile, the first wide one you've seen on her face since you met her.
