★ — For once, Clay is quiet. The only sounds coming from his vicinity are the gentle melody he hums under his breath and the careful plucking of ivory keys. Perhaps that’s the problem: the ebony keys remain a mystery as he has no idea what key he should be in, or how one would play in a particular key on this (or any) instrument. It might improve his playing if he knew at least that much—
Oh?
Both his train of thought and his playing are interrupted by an unexpectedly loud voice. At once he turns, leaving the piano barren as his hands recoil. He can’t very well play without looking, after all, and it’d be terribly rude to continue while talking even if he could. Besides! He’d like to give this and any conversation his full attention - or as much of it as he could manage.
The simple fact that he’s been approached by someone friendly has him smiling right off the bat - a smile which only grows when it’s mentioned that he’s familiar with the tune. Cheerily, Clay offers a response: “It’s the Steel Samurai theme song! It was pretty popular a few years ago.” He pauses for a moment, clearly thinking, before speaking up again. “Actually, I think it’s been longer than that. Ten years, maybe? I dunno - I’ve never been great at estimating things like that.”
Apollo was not one to realize exactly what he had done. This could either go extremely well or sour. However, that was not the case now! He could feel in his bones this was not going to end up a completely disaster. Apollo did kind of interrupt the poor guy to begin with... And startled him. Oops. That was not his intention. But he didn't seem to bothered - Happy from his expression almost.
Steel Samurai? Apollo knew what that was! It was obviously one of the coolest shows ever but he kept this information to himself. He didn't think anyone else liked it... Well, it did have some sort of freaky cult following to begin with which is why he often disassociated himself from it. Or maybe it was just the fear he'd be lumped in with a bunch of weird old men who still liked the series. But someone around his age with a similar interest? Now, he couldn't pass this up for a million years. Especially in this little place. He might as well get acquainted.
He kept a friendly smile as he spoke, but nothing too exaggerated this guy piqued his interest after all! Apollo was slightly satisfied with his interruption but nonetheless he blurted an apology, "Oh, hell, sorry. I wasn't thinking I interrupted you. But, Steel Samurai? I haven't heard of that in a while! You're pretty good, I could recognize it after all this time. I wish I could play something half decent you have my kudos!"

“Nice weather…isn’t it?”
It was a regular old day. Once again, without a single case in sight he couldn't feel one creeping in on him either. Apollo rolled his eyes probably for the hundredth time in about a span of a week. It was kind of grating to say the least. He always had this problem he wasn't sure why he still got a little upset over it. Probably the weather, yeah that's probably it. His hair was getting messed up due to the wind in Paralia. Another thing that added to his menial stressors. It was never ending tiny annoyances that caused creases in his forehead every single day. He touched is forefinger to his forehead and sighed deeply.
A miracle could happen today, anything but he was running on slivers of hope. He should find a better profession one that actually you know, makes him work. Wishful thinking, as usual from our Apollo. Whatever. He'll just make the best of today. It'd be funny if it started raining money.
And the 'weather' did just that. Apollo was confused, alarmed. He would have quickly snatched it up if he didn't have some sense of dignity. He looked up to see where it came from, unsurprisingly, it was someone clad in green. He furrowed his brows. Was he annoyed? Probably. That was until the guy spoke to him, "Nice weather... isn't it?"
Apollo was sure he was speaking to him. Collecting himself he replied, "Are you sane? Are you sick? I don't think anyone does this without an ulterior motive." What a creep.

★ — There’s a restaurant on the far end of Kairos that claims to serve the best coffee in town. In reality, it’s second best if you’re generous and third or fourth if you’re honest. There are people who go there for the coffee, sure, and more who go for the food, but Clay is none of those people. He goes because of the small piano towards the back corner, which the staff will let him mess around with when it isn’t too busy if he keeps ordering drinks.
He doesn’t know how to play the piano - that’s why they won’t let him play when the restaurant is full. No one wants to hear someone plucking keys as they learn an instrument, but there haven’t been any complaints in the hours just after opening. If there were, that’d be the end of it, plain and simple. It’s putting pressure on him to improve quickly, and to be frank, he doesn’t exactly mind. This way, it’s kind of like a race, and he’s determined to win.
That’s why he finds himself in that back corner a couple of days a week, trying to recreate melodies from the top of his head. It’s unfortunate that he doesn’t quite have an ear for musical notes or perfect pitch, but he works with what he has. Today it’s the theme song for an anime that was highly popular several years ago and has become something of a cult classic since (Steel Samurai, anyone?).
Or it would be if he could figure out the right notes.
Money was tight. And by tight, Apollo Justice was broke. He had not received any clients as of recent which was nothing short of unusual for the poor young man. Many of his acquaintances told him it was the devil horns on his head, that was funny. He thought they were attractive he was rather fond of his hair. Apollo woke up thirty minutes early every morning to style it. He was not afraid to let anyone know this information either since he did tend to comment on it every time he was put in front of something reflective. -- However, on a different train of thought he was on his way to Kairos by train. It was a normal thing, he hailed from Paralia and lived there but he worked at a firm in Kairos.
Yet today was an off day, he had nothing to do and was not assigned any tasks by his boss so he decided to go to the cheapest place he could possible think of. It was a small coffee joint, restaurant if you were kind enough to call it that. The coffee wasn't too bad he thought it was better than the high end stuff you could buy with probably a tiny fortune. Apollo situated himself close to a window, he did like watching the people outside while he drank his coffee and read any material the place had to offer. He wasn't going to mind the time either, he had all day and his cell phone if they needed him. That was unlikely so he relaxed.

Music began to play, to be specific... The piano that was placed in the back was being played. He'd never heard this before or even seen it been used when he came around. Maybe it was the timing or he wasn't particularly paying any attention. The tune seemed familiar? Apollo being a little inquisitive and curious took himself to the piano leaving his belongings behind (minus his wallet he couldn't afford to lose that now, could he?) toward the young man playing the piano. He wasn't a professional but it something. Apollo's loud voice rang as he spoke, "Hey! What's that you're playing? It sounds pretty familiar like from stuff I watched when I was a kid." He probably startled the guy and hadn't realized how loud his voice actually was. Oops.
