Elrond Peredhel (dead wife montage edition)
1/2 of my offerings for @celrondweek is this fanwork-of-a-fanwork, a portrait of elrond as i picture him in the years start coming and they don't stop coming by @i-am-a-lonely-visitor ie the celrond of all celronds, which had the exact same foundational and formative impact on mid-twenties me as realising my favourite barbie was but a pumice stone session away from fitting into my favourite ken's clothes (i named them ben) was on 6-year-old me. anyway you know when you read a fic and you see someone write a character so remarkably and you're just like YOU GET IT. YOU GET THIS FUCKER. that is visitor's series for me. both elrond and celebhîr, but this one is elrond's moment. my little princess man, the dead wife in his husband's dead wife montage (yes i know elrond is technically alive but does elrond-in-late-third-age really count as alive the man would flap off the terrace in his slutty grief corset if even 0.005 more teaspoons of sorrow entered him), as imagined by celebhîr in aman.

The four most interesting parts of time loop are when the person kills themselves for the first time, when they kill someone else for the first time (in a fuck around kind of way, this doesn't count if they already were killing people outside of the loop), how they break the loop, and the weeks afterward where they loose their fucking minds in an entirely different, significantly more damaging to the world around them way. And yet I rarely see anything done with that last one. People leave time loops and are all happy go lucky 'oh boy'. Where's the grappling with people you know who will never know you? Where's the knowledge that the safety of the loop is gone, and you can't fix any mistakes you make? That's the good angst I want

I like to keep my Tumblr Silmarillion-focused, but enough people have read or seen an adaptation of Pride & Prejudice that I don't feel bad reccing take all my loves, my love, yea, take them all by @helloquotemyfoot. 26.5k, Teen, AU where Christian English marriages are triads. Elizabeth/Darcy/Charlotte Lucas.
Marriage in England has always been made up of three spouses, in a mirror to the Holy Trinity. When Fitzwilliam Darcy comes to Hertfordshire and finds the enchanting Elizabeth Bennet, there's no real reason he should not offer for her—but, typically, no one accounted for Charlotte Lucas, and things unfold rather differently than anyone at first imagined.
The worldbuilding is a romp! Each chapter begins with an in-universe epigraph. For example, the first chapter's is excerpted from On the Bill for the Formal Partnership of Two Persons, In Anticipation of a Full Marriage, lately introduced to Parliament, which--*swoons*. The prose is also excellent, the characters--especially Charlotte Lucas--are wonderful, and the addition of a third spouse is a fun shake-up that keeps you wondering throughout (What is Darcy's living parent like? Who will be the third spouse of Jane and Bingley? How will the deal with Mr. Collins play out in this universe?).
Seriously, if it sounds up your alley, give it a shot.
spring 2026 in review, silm Tolkien fandom edition
Every three months, I like to create a little round-up of my fandom experiences from the past season: fics I've written, great fics I've read, events I've participated in, and other milestones and notes. It's been a nice way to keep track of the highlights and raise awareness for some great fanworks that people are creating around the world.
Favorite fic I wrote this season: This might be the recency bias talking, but I'm extremely proud of The Sting of Salt and Pity, the fic I wrote as a fill for the May 2026 prompts in Leaf & Lore and LTC, and MerMay. Original female Elf character (a Bad Mom of Arda), Mature, 1.1k, horror themes, creator chose not to use archive warnings, see fic on ao3 for detailed tags and warnings.
Favorite fic I read this season: The Swan-Road by @glitterlessgold, Amrod-centric, General, 8.5k. A post-Losgar fic, not crispy Amrod, not toasted Amrod, but a new kind of Amrod we're calling BLANCHED AMROD!! I loved this fic so much. The imaginativeness, the grief, the inevitability & the Adventure of it all! Amrod talks to his boat much as Tom Hanks talks to Wilson the volleyball in Cast Away, and it's fantastic. (Btw, the author's Glorthelion WIP is also excellent!)
