if u are ever stuck in a story u need to remembr that a piece of paper is quite generously proportioned in the x and y directions. so if you tryto escape a story by living it youll keep going and going a long time and never make it out. but in the z direction it is tightly limkted. so you simply need to stack stories on stories on stories until the page bursts and you r free. scheherazade knew this

Here's another snippet from the t4t high school reunion au I'm working on for Dead Storage:

Ariadne finally steps out of the doorway and joins Claire in leaning against the wall. The parking lot hasn’t changed. Same harsh white lights, same chipping lines of road paint. Same potholes, by the looks of things. “God, has it really been 10 years?” Claire laughs, more genuinely this time. She nudges an elbow into Ariadne’s ribs, and for a second it feels like old times. “That’s the whole point, Ariadne,” she teases. “That’s why we’re here.” “You know what I mean.” “I do.” Claire breathes out a sigh. “It’s weird being back.”

Ariadne is glad she chose the name she did. Daphne wouldn’t sound the same, whispered like this, and neither would Jessica. Claire makes music out of Ariadne, tongue pressing delicately against the back of her teeth like a musician’s against a reed as she rounds out the unfamiliar dn sound.
