they should make a version of socializing that doesn’t make you feel like you’re still the weird 12 year old kid that doesn’t know why she’s not normal like the other kids
found this three year old draft buried in my files. is it funny? I don't remember
Hey hey, as a librarian, can I just say don’t pace yourself at the library. I get a lot of customers saying “oh I shouldn’t get too many books out at once” but like you should!!!! Max out your card, take everything we have on a subject you’re interested in, make a book fort in your home. We love that shit! It doesn’t matter if you read them or not; just take them for an adventure and bring them back whenever they’re due!
For public libraries, one of the ways we secure funding year to year is lending. Governments don’t want to fund more books if they’re not being used and the way we measure use is by issues. Regardless of whether you read it or not, whether you have it for a day or a month, if you issue it to your library card, we get the stats! It makes the library look good!
Help your local library; get books out even if you know you can’t read them all!
Use that library card like you are on a shopping spree with unlimited funds baby
Books
Movies
Random games, music, equipment, online learning services your library offers
Have fun!
If someone else wants the book you checked out you will be notified! You cannot renew items that there's a hold on! So you're not depriving anyone else, either!
at least sisyphus only had one never-ending task. i have like 50 and all of them cost money

Well obviously I can’t have chronic fatigue, that’s a real problem for real disabled people that’s diagnosed by doctors probably. Clearly I just have some sort of perpetual exhaustion issue, that is also almost certainly my fault somehow
why is this the hottest thing i've ever seen
HE SHOWED UP WITH A DUEL DISK TODAY?????
AND ALL FIVE EXODIA PIECES
I need everyone to know that I looked it up, and Noah Lyles is doing this as part of an ongoing bet he has with shotput competitor Chase Jackson. She's wearing Naruto accessories every day, and if Lyles whips out Yugioh cards at every race, then for the shotput finals Jackson will re-enact the scene of Rock Lee dropping his weights.
This is now the only part of the Olympics that I care about.
edit: this is not the olympics. I'm an idiot. it's the USA qualifiers for the olympics, but our boy Lyles has won every race so he's definitely going to be taking Exodia to the Olympics, and i for one cannot wait
being anticapitalist with a strong work ethic is so fucking embarrassing like my managers don't deserve this
shaking my head while working overtime to clarify I disapprove of the situation
Anyway this girl is so out of my league it hurts but holy fucking shit she likes me
Sometimes I hate it here. Feel stuck, feels like it’s impossible to go anywhere. All that happens is my shit gets stolen from my car, my favorite shit.
I maintain. I don’t experiment, I don’t try new, I maintain and my shit gets stolen. The things I wear day in and day out, my grounding things, they just disappear. What will I be when there’s none of it left? Aloof and having spent the last few years in someone’s shadow. Never great in my own right I guess.
Ugh.
“We did not have the data to understand the scale of the issue in New York State until the ProPublica and Documented series came out last ye
New York lawmakers proposed three new bills last week that would make it difficult for wage theft violators to conduct business in the state. The legislation would bolster the power of state agencies to crack down on wage theft by stripping violators of their liquor licenses or business licenses, as well as issuing stop-work orders against them. The legislation was prompted by reports of rampant wage theft against New York workers, including two investigations published by Documented and ProPublica. The stories revealed that more than 127,000 New Yorkers have been victims of wage theft during a recent five-year period, but that the New York State Department of Labor was unable to recover $79 million in back wages owed to the workers. The stories were based on an analysis of two databases of wage theft violations obtained from the U.S. and New York Labor departments. The databases provided previously unreported details on how much money had been stolen from workers and also shed light on which businesses had committed wage theft. “We knew from our conversations with labor and from our constituent service caseload that wage theft is a chronic problem,” said Sen. Jessica Ramos, a Democrat who sponsored the legislation. “We did not have the data to understand the scale of the issue in New York state until the ProPublica and Documented series came out last year. Having this reporting as a tool set us up to put this package together and focused our attention on” the capacity of the Department of Labor. The legislation — dubbed the “wage theft deterrence package” by lawmakers — includes three bills, which are co-sponsored in the State Assembly by Assembly members Kenny Burgos, Harvey Epstein and Linda Rosenthal.
Okay, so, to be clear.
In case anyone thinks voting doesn't matter and that both parties are the same.
In Republican dominated states? They're making it legal for CHILDREN UNDER 16 to work in unsafe conditions!
In Democrat hotbed New York? They want to make it so that if you commit Wage Theft? Your business can't operate in the state.
I just want to make it CLEAR why voting matters.
I just want to make it CLEAR why both parties are not the same.
You need to vote blue no matter who if ONLY for labor law.
A lot of Americans have been tired for a long time of our country trying to be the military and political and cultural center of the universe but does anyone at the top of the food chain listen to any of that? No.
It’s tiring knowing that over half of your tax dollars are going towards buying new airplanes to threaten other countries with when there’s hungry and disenfranchised people at home. That’s money that could be going towards feeding people both at home and abroad, giving what soldiers we do have better wages, getting us better healthcare, giving startup loans to small businesses, enforcing laws meant to dissuade unethical business practices.
But instead? Big tanks. Interfering in yet another war we shouldn’t have any say in. We’ve been tired of this for decades now but will the people at the top do anything about it? Nope.
We could be helping out of work coal miners and truck drivers enter new industries, giving stipends for food and educational materials to parents, making state colleges free, making more rail lines, housing the homeless, funding even more drug research, giving more grants to budding artists, writers, and filmmakers.
But instead? Big gun boats. And blowing up villages. Again.
