Actually I will make a post about this. Please spell hawai‘i properly, with the ‘okina, which is a glottal stop that changes the pronunciation of a word! The ‘okina looks like a backwards apostrophe and sounds like a hiccup. There are other hawaiian words that are commonly spelled without the ‘okina, like the name of the island lāna‘i, but retaining the proper spelling and making an effort to pronounce hawaiian words properly helps preserve the hawaiian ‘ōlelo :)

Hey, friendly PSA from an Australian: please for the love of fuck do not buy UGG™ boots.

Ugg boots (generic term, not trademarked) are a traditional sheepskin slipper and are usually made by small family owned businesses using local artisans and Australian sheepskin. They are not a fashion item. They are the warmest and comfiest slippers you'll own, and the sort of thing so daggy I'd get embarrassed if my parents wore them out further than the driveway.

Then Deckers, an American footwear brand, decided to step in and trademark the term ugg. There was a protracted legal battle, and they lost the trademark in Australia but kept it everywhere else in the world. This means that Australian bootmakers can only use the word "ugg" in Australian markets. You'd better believe Deckers are suing any small business that dares try to sell ugg boots outside Australia, for copyright infringement and some bullshit about "damaging their brand".

On top of which, instead of high quality locally made boots where workers are getting paid fairly, they've outsourced production to China.

So fuck UGG™, fuck Deckers, and please support small businesses (if you can do so without getting them sued).

I'm rewatching Season 1 of Stranger Things for the first time in years (remember when I used to ship Stancy 👀 haha) and noticing how frequently Nancy says,

"You're an idiot Steve Harrington"

and I have two thoughts...

1) In Volume 2 Nancy says "You're an idiot Steve Harrington" and Steve is just like... Nancy, what are you doing. Communicate with Jonathan, don't sabotage things by trying to get back with me, the same way you sabotaged things with me by getting with Jonathan.

2) Eddie and Robin are confused as to why Nancy calling him an idiot makes Steve think she's flirting with him, and learn that their original relationship involved her saying that to him a lot. Even though Nancy intended it to be endearing and light hearted they both realise that it actually had a lasting impact on Steve's opinion of himself and make a mental note not to call him stupid/dumb/an idiot in the future.

Bonus: Eddie sidles up to him and nudges his arm again like in Episode 7 and says "for the record Harrington, I don't think you're an idiot"
