Consuming endless streams of image of surgically altered body, homogenized “beauty” / trendbody is diff than having this presented in ads, in magazines, in editorials or on runways. This overlaps now but unlimited access to screen and internet creates a threshold for these Frankenstein forms to exist like, permanently , so whoever accesses these images it’s like a livestream because these people are being surgically altered to look like Snapchat filters n kardashian-y (which in itself is completely unnatural looking) . It’s damaging people’s brains, people are living in hyperprisons of physical performance of self and beauty and it makes me really scared and sad. And I think this is all psychotic, I have to continually clean out my explore page on Instagram because everyone participates In consuming these images and following these models n people who live in front of lens, and I have to block pages so I don’t actually lose my mind looking at this body trends . They are sick
Even “natural” look is now part of this kind of neo-fetish , it’s a trend as well. It’s a hollow movement etc. so I’m not dumb I don’t think these like “natural” looks are the response to what I’ve described I think it’s all part of body as commodity and people deluding themselves into believing they have room to perform themselves authentically when this is what they consume or aspire to or absorb into identity etc

Updates from my current big project, The Pocket Field Guide to Root People! It’s been quite a journey on the design, but it’s finally looking good!

“Above all, avoid falsehood, every kind of falsehood, especially falseness to yourself. Watch over your own deceitfulness and look into it every hour, every minute.”
— Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov (tr. by Constance Garnett)
I have no creative use for guilt, yours or my own. Guilt is only another way of avoiding informed action, of buying time out of the pressing need to make clear choices, out of the approaching storm that feed the earth as well as bend the trees.

Those who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made, or by dark images you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused
