“maybe you’re thinking of a different peter parker,” he let out a huff of air, a crude semblance of a laugh to accompany his shell of a joke, “i’ve just got a lot on my mind right now, you know? can’t –– sorta - formulate thoughts.”

“no,” peter answered, a bit too quickly. offering up a semi-sincere smile ( one that didn’t quite reach his eyes ), peter shrugged, “she doesn’t. got that from her mom, thankfully.”

he let himself get lost in thought for a moment, one thumb gently stroking the back of mj’s hand. “i don’t know if you can,” he finally admitted, tone utterly defeated – unsure of how much to divulge and how much his wife already knew.

Felicia gave a close lipped smile before she glanced back down to the diamond she was inspecting. “I’ve got a lot of adjectives ascribed to me, but I’m not sure admirable comes up often.” At least she wasn’t a thief anymore. Her tenure had been incredibly short before she realized it just wasn’t for her.

peter returned the smile. he’d heard about this felicia’s life–– it was admirable how she’d turned everything around. “hey, i’m sure that’s not true. you seem like a lovely person.”

“alright yeah, that’s fair––” peter followed as kamala lead the way. it was strange, seeing her like this - grown up, wary, cynical. everything was strange in this world. “thanks,” he replied once they were in a safer area. the last thing he needed was to be imprisoned before dinner.

peter softened a bit at jane’s words, “that sounds...difficult.” he wasn’t entirely sure how to respond to the situation, but he figured jane needed a listening ear the most right now, and he was perfectly willing to be just that - despite his own current life crisis.

“Hi.” Crystal managed to get out before she sneezed. She had felt it coming but hadn’t wanted to drop the baby. “Thank you. Thank god Pietro isn’t here. He hates it when I pass Luna off to strangers.”

peter began to bounce the baby on his hip, the motion almost instinctual. he had been raising a child for several years. some version of him at least. “oh, no you’re all good –– totally understand,” he offered the baby back to crystal, the words tumbling out before his brain could process what he was saying, “i’ve got a little one of my own.”
