She feels calluses on his fingers through the thin material of her dress. She wonders what he does with his fingers that caused them and that thought leads her to how potentially talented he is with said fingers. Her body heats up in response to the mental image, her chest flushing red. He takes her hand and squeezes, a warning that he’s about to spin her out again.

He does and she’s laughing loud and from the heart. When he pulls her back and she gets a close up look of his face. Cute was not the right word, he is gorgeous . She can just make out a light scattering of freckles over the bridge of his nose and across his cheeks. She wants to trace them, connect them, to see if they make up any constellations she’s familiar with.

THE FIRST JULIE AND THE PHANTOMS BIG BANG IS HAPPENING!

If this is the first time you have heard of this sort of event, here’s a quick summary: A Big Bang is an event that brings together artists & writers from he fandom in order to create more content for us all to enjoy. 

Authors will be writing fic with at least 5000 words and artists will create some accompanying art to it. This can be classic fan art, but also gif sets, edits, moodboards or playlists. 

Each team will also have a cheerleader, who will be someone to help with beta work or even motiviating the team. 

The event will span several weeks, so the teams will have the chance to work together to make something great, before posting happens. 

This is a first post in order to find out if people would be interested in this. Please feel free to reblog this post, if you’re interested, so other people can find out about us as well! Or maybe even send us an ask, if you have any questions.

Sometimes, when Julie's mind is spinning to fast for the still darkness of her room to keep up with, she looks at the article.

It's truly her only remaining piece of Luke's existence in 1995, one that simultaneously stirs up feelings of grief and love. His photo, so intense and beautiful and adorable -- taken when he was a living, breathing person.

She had him. She knew that. He was real, to her at least, and she had all of his clothes from his life to prove it.

But it didn't stop her from mourning the life he never got to live for himself -- wanting a connection, a little reassurance, of his life before the after.

It was funny, too, looking at the photo. Even in the still frame, his edges seemed sharper. His eyes were darker. The chip on his shoulder was fresh and big and bold, and he wanted you to see it. The Luke that she had, that she knew, was warmer. Scarred, yes, but he rounded out the edges and used that chip to learn and grow. His eyes sparkled and reflected sunlight and his body was soft and inviting.

The contrast often made her think about if they had met each other in '95. Or, alternatively, if he was a living teenager in 2021.

If she knew him then, would she have tried to fill the gaps and scare away the darkness? Or would she be the quiet, kind girl who didn't want to give such a brash boy the time of day?

If he was alive now, would he be the brooding character in this image? Or would he be lighter; a guardian angel who would spend time chasing a grieving Julie in the halls and pine to know her?

One night, she's laying on Luke's chest, and she confesses that she looks at the photo. That she looks at it most nights, actually; because it is not only a piece of him from the life she never will know him from, but it's a photo of him that she can have wherever she goes. It's not a doodle in her sketchbook or a screenshot recorded from one of their gigs. It's a photo, a real and raw photo, of Luke Patterson.

He concedes that it's a good picture. But he can tell she's still not telling him something.

So she breaks down in gibberish about timelines and past lives and personality types and Luke barely catches most of it, but her concern is clear.

Would they have still wanted each other if things were different? Or would they be ignorantly living their lives without ever knowing the love, the joy, that the other gave them?

"I would miss you even if we never met, Julie. I could have lived my whole life, but you would have been missing, and I would have felt that."

"How do you know?"

"Because when I met you, I had literally just died, but meeting you still gave me the feeling that my life was just beginning."

I mean, I was part of it before with a different show that Netflix cancelled. It took... I think it was 5 months of harassment from fans to get Netflix to agree to a 2 1/2 hour finale episode to tie up all the loose ends.

Moral of the story: sometimes bullying works.
