An intro to functional programming in JS. Pretty decent.

Are you a Ruby fan? Crystal is a relatively new super fast language that compiles to native code, is strongly typed, but looks and feels almost exactly like Ruby.

I'd be interested in seeing the adoption rate and performance of this thing. Pretty happy to see that .NET's getting some OSS love.

This is a really good overview of how Go handles and optimizes concurrent applications. I would debate his point that “callback hell” is a result of an event-loop based system such as Node. The new async keyword, promises, or generators all solve the callback hell problem pretty well.

Still, no question that Go has concurrency benefits that Node can’t touch, such as being able to run expensive computations without necessarily blocking all other incoming requests.

I never actually bothered to sit down and read the Backbone docs before... Probably the best documentation I've seen for any JavaScript library or framework. Well played.

WFH To Raise Productivity

A recent analysis of the effects of working from home has found that productivity and worker satisfaction increased. Importantly, not all workers found the experience to be positive, so the study concludes that it is probably best to let employees self-select whether to work in the office or remotely. source

This is a good, quick read/watch. The answer is pretty obvious, really. (Hint: it has to do with our corporate overlords.)

Sepp Holzer's son explains the ways of Austrian permaculture. I love the fact that his son is so passionate about this. Talk about leaving a legacy!

Organic, somewhat sustainable agriculture in Europe. Not all of it is permaculture. And it's not as pretty as Sepp Holzer's place, but still really enviable. I loved the last business (a seed bank that hopes to someday put itself out of business by teaching people to save their own seed.)
