ROOM THREE: QUEEN'S TALE.

Constantine is the first to pick up one of the stones to inspect. "Looks like some sort of puzzle." There are quite a few pieces. Each one is colored vibrantly. He takes another look at the piece. A woman lies in bed with a golden chalice on the floor. There is a man who stands nearby with two people behind him.

"Damn..." He looks to Phiore and Lighter. "Looks like these puzzles might be telling a story. We just have to do them correctly."

Lighter looks around the long hallway, but there's nothing of note except the painting at the end. It's rather dramatic looking, the woman laying (presumably dead, or wasted) on her bed with some red drink spilled on the floor. Some guys in the background too. Lighter isn't much for puzzles, but he's not dumb either.

"Well I guess it can't be too hard. Even if we mess up there's only a handful of possible combos, so..." He gives a shrug, looking over the pictures. "How hard can it be?"

❝ oh... ❞ phiore steps out from behind lighter to give the painting a curious peek. their first thought upon seeing it is rather grim, that perhaps the woman's wine was poisoned by the strange man in the scene's background. and so they frown somewhat, feeling a strange sympathy for her. ❝ are we uncovering a message? or... a picture? ❞ to hopefully answer their own question, they try to get closer to the pieces constantine has in his hands.

❝ and there's one, two... ten pieces? ❞ softly, they gasp! ❝ you're right! there's only a handful of possible answers. i know we can solve it! ❞ @uwps001 -> @rideonredscarf

"Phiore. A gorgeous name. You remind me of a plant that blooms beautiful flowers during the winter. They are called Everestie Lillies. The only kind of plant that thrives in the coldest of seasons."

Seeing Phiore makes him feel right at home. Perhaps it shows in the way he's relaxed from the feeling of overwhelm!

oh, they don't know how to handle such praise! their torso lightly swings back and forth, fingers knit behind their back as they giggle a, ❝ thank you very much! ❞ as the man speaks, phiore finds themself drawn in by how knowledgeable he is. truth is, even though they're somewhat of a plant themself, they don't know very much about them! ❝ everestie lillies? ❞ asks phiore, curiosity bright in their eyes. ❝ they sound lovely... flowers that bloom in the winter face the most adversity. it inspires me that they can still bloom despite the challenges! ❞ they could learn a lesson or two from such flowers. phiore hopes they can possess such perseverance, no matter what odds may rise against them.

❝ are you a botanist? ❞ perhaps a druid or something like that, they think?

Sephiroth looked at all the instruments carefully. He had never seen most of these before in his life. He placed his fingers against the glass as he stared at a particular instrument.

"Huh?" He moved his hand away when he heard a voice and looked downward. A child? No. Their stature was small, but Sephiroth could tell they were much older and mature than him. They were also strange looking.

"I don't know, I suppose I am," He replied and looked back at the instruments. He had never really played anything besides a piano, and that was a rarity in itself. Sephiroth couldn't relate to this being's wish to perform. His ability to perform was only as useful as Hojo deemed it to be. A night of Hojo showing how obedient he was and entertaining the higher ups in one go.

"It doesn't really matter." yet, his reflection posed an expression of longing.

phiore blinks, a tilt to their head. his words may dismiss the idea, but they know that look in his eyes—of longing, from the heart. ❝ but it does matter! ❞ the genasi objects. they smile, brighter, gentler. they've encouraged tevryn like this, too. ❝ your heart has a wish. and a wish is all you need for it to matter. ❞ after all, it was a wish that had brought them into this world. they think of all the wonderful things they would have missed without one to summon them. how tevryn might have never regained his light had his spirit wavered. and phiore knows this stranger, too, has a light in him. it's important to them now that it doesn't fade out. ❝ won't you come look at the instruments with me? just a look? ❞ they giggle, straightening with their arms behind their back. ❝ you'll see them better from inside instead of through the glass. ❞

❝ i'm so excited! i'll get to perform again~ ❞ giggling, their fingers pluck a lighthearted tune from their lyre. ❝ i'll play something for himmel and ethos right now! ❞

❝ please! oh, might i hear another verse? ❞ phiore's even waited for the rest of the crowd to dwindle, just for a chance to speak with this magnificent word-weaver! ❝ you were amazing up there! i could only dream of being such a great bard. ❞

❝ the instruments are beautiful, aren't they? ❞ with fingers knit gently behind their back, phiore skips up to stand beside the boy looking through the glass display of zithers, lutes, and lyres. they, too, share his sense of longing. they have been without their own instrument since coming here, and their hands sorely miss having strings to pluck tunes from. ❝ oh, i so badly wish to play again... ❞ a sigh, then a smile. they tip their weight forward as they give the youth a glance, balancing on their toes.

❝ are you hoping to buy one? ❞

phiore's smile has always been infectious, how it blooms and blossoms and reveals something precious. he can't help but mimic it.

“ do you have your swimwear? what're we waiting for? ”

oh, gosh! how could they forget the most important part? ❝  swimwear!  ❞  phiore's fist connects with their palm in sudden recollection, a soft smack. ❝  ethoooos,  ❞ the name carries as the most rueful tune.  ❝  i completely forgot!  ❞ but their playful sorrow lasts only a moment, for an idea springs into their head right after.

❝  ah, wait! have you picked one yet? we should pick out our swimsuits together! it'd be fun!  ❞  though any outing with ethos always is.

"Oh I see. Yes I see now. I was meant to have a roommate. My first roommate..." Promosis clasped her hands together and looked down at Phiore. "I am most apologetic for suspecting you of malice or anything negative. I am not startled any longer."

She would have smiled, if she was capable of the expression in this form.

"My name is Promosis. I am most delighted to meet you Phiore, I hope we can become close friends and work together in times of hardship."

❝ I'm your first roommate? ❞ The reveal of this pivots me from nerves to excitement because, well, almost all my lived experience is being a roommate! To reassure her that she's in good hands, I vow my palm against my chest how I've seen more serious oaths sworn and giggle. ❝ Then I'll do my very best to be a good housemate! ❞ Working together starts at the first meeting. I glance at her bag of groceries resting patiently on the table, wondering where we might put those away before her apology briefly begs my attention. ❝ Oh, please—it's all okay! Nothing bad came of it, so why don't we settle in? ❞ After flagging my hand back and forth in good nature, I give her groceries a point.

❝ We can put those away together, if you'd like. ❞

[🪴] In her arms, Promosis was carrying a basket of fruits and vegetables. It was evident that she had done a bit of shopping. This world wasn't so difficult to navigate once she understood the basics of "dust" and "stars". As she opened the door, she had to bend down slightly so she wouldn't hit her head on the doorframe as she entered.

"Ah." She was just as surprised to see someone else in the dwelling. As when she had left, there was most certainly no one here besides herself!

"Hello. ... Who are you, and why have you come into my house?" She set the basket of fruits and veggies down on the coffee table that was in the middle of the room. "...You didn't break in, right? That would be most worrisome."

'Break in'?! The very thought prompts my hands to fly up and frantically wave to attest to my innocence. ❝ N- No, never! I—I live here! ❞ But for a moment, I rethink it. Do I live here? The door did say 407, didn't it? Luckily, a shake of my head puts it back on straight, and I explain myself. ❝ We're roommates! I arrived during that awful battle... I've only just now found my residence. ❞ She sets down groceries on the short table in front of that big squishy chair I was wallowing in a moment ago. I assume she's lived here longer than me if she's already done some shopping. Was it alone? Maybe that's why she's so surprised to see me. ❝ My name is Phiore. It's nice to meet you! Even if I've startled you... ❞ I try for a smile. I've never had to tilt one so high up before! ❝ What's yours? ❞

"I'm not very experienced with musical instruments, but could it be the strings may need tightening? The Stars tend to confiscate weaponry or objects associated with our powers, then leave us with standard issue replacements.

When I was first summoned, my shield was taken and a garbage can lid left instead". She imagined the Knights would have been livid with those in charge for substituting a fragment of the Round Table with... a step away from actual garbage.

❝ Tighten them? Mm... I don't see where that'd be possible... ❞ Inspecting the little lyre a second time gets me nowhere. ( Or was it a third now? I don't remember. ) The strings look like fishing line, fixed in place, which I suppose makes sense—the name on the instrument isn't my own, but a Mr. Fisher instead. I wonder what his price is! ❝ A garbage can lid?! Oh, dear... ❞

❝ That seems like a really mean practical joke! And the stars do this? The ones up there, at night? ❞ A point to the skies above.

But then I wave my hands back and forth, a little flustered. ❝ No, I can make a cot and sleep on the floor. It'll be like a sleepover! ❞
